Why?  Because one opening has been filled?

Because team's aren't falling over each other to interview a guy who has an active lawsuit against the NFL.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Any chance we can have someone use one of those awkward butthole/egg pics that RTK posted and insert Koy Detmers face in it?   Like he’s being hatched?   I don’t know.  Just spitballing here.

Someday, perhaps, an alien culture will unearth this and spend a lot of time trying to understand WTH this all means.

People are acting like Steve Wilks went undefeated and took the team to a SB. "He did an amazing job, it's a disgrace he wasn't hired." Really? He did ok. Talk about a reach, my god.

People are starting with the narrative and just inventing things to fit their agenda.

The lawsuit isn't about being fired because he's black, it's for NYG already deciding to hire Daboll before interviewing him, so his interview was a sham to get around the Rooney Rule.

Talk about counter productive, Florio suggests Broncos should get retaliation claims if Flores or Wilkes aren't hired. Meanwhile DeMeco Ryans is the reported favorite for the job.

To me, that's what the Rooney Rule encourages and what a lot of these types of policies encourage. I've been a part of hiring processes where we've already settled on a candidate, but becasue of policy we have to keep the job opened a certain amount of days have have to interview a certain number of people.

Did Wilks even have an interview with any other team? Maybe Carolina is just hiring the best person for the job and not hiring because of someones skin color. Imagine that.

He made Sam Darnold look like an OK starter after he took over. That's pretty impressive.

Not saying he deserved the job over Reich but he did well for himself in the interim gig. At the very least he put himself on the HC watch list over the next few years.

Florio is a dingleberry

Is he even allowed to? He's been in Carolina for just one year, I'd assume he's still under contract.

He's a defensive coach, not sure how much he had to do with Darnold. Regardless, I think Wilks did a decent job. He certainly wasn't bad. But people saying he should've earned the job for what he did is a little much. He got the interview, apparently was a finalist. I see no discrimination here.

I know they can't block coordinators from HC interviews, not sure if they can block an interim HC from another HC position.

The recent rules adjustments are starting to work. The SF 49ers are swimming in 3rd round picks from having a strong minority coaching and executive pipeline. In a copycat league this will catch on. You can't fix this issue by hiring 2 or 3 bad black head coaching candidates as the Texans just did. They get fired the next year and the numbers don't change. The clueless backlash at their well deserved firings actually make the problem worse. Why expose your franchise to this?

The carrot works. The stick never will.

Florio is a hypocrite. He loved railing about Kaep and freedom of speech as his censors blocked posts describing every vile thing Kaep and Krew did.

His 2nd in command is literally a talentless white male nepotism case (Chis Simms) and yet he cries about equality in hiring.

He's probably written 10k words on the tragedy of Bieniemy without digging into his miles long rap sheet.

Now he's calling the Texans racist for hiring a black GM in the last 10 years and 2 straight black head coaches because they did not hire slip-and-fall Flores who is a radioactive litigation prone person.

Don’t forget about your buddy Jack Easterby!

I disagree - in that it falls on Hurts because the only area Niners are better is the LB- and Hurts SHOULD be much better than Purdy. So Hurts will NEED to play like he is MUCH BETTER than Purdy.

And I respectfully disagree back.  Hurts doesn’t play against Purdy and vice versa.  Hurts can play much better than Purdy does and if the other matchups fall in favor of the Niners …

I hear you- I understand your point.  However

I am saying Our Lines will somewhat neutralize each other- Both teams will have a hard time running the ball, both will need to get rid of the ball quickly.

with all things equal- It comes down to can Purdy or Hurts make the plays needed. And That means it does come down to Hurts VS Purdy. If both are making monster plays, than it's a toss up, But If Purdy outplays Hurts? Bad Omen for the future.

Maybe more addition by subtraction there with Darnold, but yeah overall he has a good second half run there with that team. He definitely deserved an interview.

But discrimination?  Agreed I doubt it. Reich got done dirty too it's not like they brought in Jeff Saturday or Josh McCown instead.

Wilks went .500 after Rhule's firing, and they were only in it because the rest of that division sucked just as much. Flores really thought suing would OPEN more doors?

Waiting to bust them out at the Super Bowl.

Isn't the reveal for the kelly green uniforms this year?

All this is going to lead to is teams being bullied into hiring lame duck coaches that they fire a year later(and then get criticized for that too) like Lovie Smith.

There's nothing wrong with inequities as long as they aren't driven by discrimination. Not every company, organization, or institution is going to have evenly divided employees by their ethnicity. Nor should they. It shakes out how it shakes out. The number of applicants per demographic and the quality of candidates per demographic is going to be ever-shifting.

America's obsession over race has broken peoples brains to see race discrimination in any inequity, no matter if there is any actually going on. There are some grifters like Ibram Kendi(who gets hired tens of thousands of dollars to promote toxic rhetoric like anti-capitalism ironically, and other crazy nonsense) that flat out say "Any inequity is proof of racism and if you disagree you're a racist." A kafka trap essentially.

The NFL has been a league where winning trumps all. Teams will sign literal ex-cons and people with questionable character because it helps them win, without any regard for skin color. But somehow people think when it comes to coaches, then all of a sudden organizations start discriminating. If Mike Tomlin was fired, he'd be hired within the hour.
