He played hurt and looked it.... It's fine if he plays that physical style. He'll find himself replaced as quickly as the guy before for not adjusting to the league. It's not a narrative, it's fact. Sad his fans are so damn blind to the fact he won't last very long. Ask Lamar and Kyle how it's working out for them

Murray's injury was non-contact. So "hits" had nothing to do with it. That could happen to any player that moves. Ask Joe Burrow or Alex Smith about standing in the pocket.  Burrow also sprained his MCL in the Super Bowl last season. He also had his pinky dislocated on a strip sack late that season. All of those injuries came in the pocket.

Injuries happen in football to both pocket passers and runners. Saying, "I told you so," after a doom and gloom prediction is like gloating after predicting a traffic like would change from red to green at some point.

Finally, a prediction is not a fact. It never has been and never will be.

Good time to remind: if you just want act like middle school cliques trolling and insulting each other go to RnR.

  • Just take a moment to realize how easy things look for this offense when the quarterback is right. This team just scored 28 points against a divisional opponent in a half. Just insane where things cou

Really ??  There is 5 guys currently having this discussion

Is there a rule that only 2 people are allowed to discuss a topic in a thread at one time.

We have all stated, multiple times, that he has played very well this year.

Does not mean we cant still have doubts about long term success.  Every Raven and Panthers fan who doubted the long term success of Lamar ( after an MVP award ) and Cam Newton ( after an MVP award and Super Bowl appearance ) are looking pretty smart right now.

Never said you couldn't. I said why can't others have less concerns than you and the posse? Do you see what I mean about the ganging up and berating if someone has a different opinion than you yet? I have less concerns about Hurts' longevity. That's it. Do you see that I can't even say that without you and your other girlfriends here jumping on me?? Calm down ladies.

But, it was a designed run, 20 yards down the field.

Mike has the stat that proves injuries double outside the pocket....that's a fact. I'm not gloating about his injury. I'm discussing how to extend this kids career and getting him paid. It's odd how few of you are on board with that notion

Running QBs get hurt running lol

Think Wilson got hurt that way too right during the preseason

So, because you reply with "I am less concerned than you", does that mean I am no longer allowed to respond.

We have all made a compelling case, based on similar QB's, that the long term success and availability of that style of play does not look promising.

But, you will have a playoff game in 10 days to strengthen your argument, you will have next year to do it again and stay healthy to strengthen your argument.

Good luck with that, I really do hope it works out.  Not for you and your need for personal vindication, but for the good of the Philadelphia Eagles.

I myself, have doubts, and have the history of Cam and Lamar to back up those doubts.  I have the 2022 missed games of Hurts, Lamar, Murray, Fields and Lance to back up those doubts.

"Outside the pocket" often results from poor pass protection and not necessarily because a QB is a runner. Also, the stat doesn't mention the severity of injuries.  How many games did Cunningham miss because of injuries sustained while running compared to standing in the pocket?

Stats are interesting, but even more so with context.

Agreed.  But I am sure, the reasonable poster you are, that if he just stood in the pocket on that play and threw the ball, he would not have sustained a non contact injury.

This post reads like you want him to play poorly in the playoffs. Very rtk of you.

That is a bold assumption.  I am an Eagles fan, and I want them to win every game.  All that post shows is factually, what happened to Lamar and Cam after a very successful season.

In the @LeanMeanGM weekly pick em, I picked the Eagles 17 times out of 17.  Ironically, rtk, the biggest Hurts fan boy, picked against the Eagles on multiple occasions.

Stats are interesting because they can be a snapshot of a season. Of all the major QB injuries this year, I can only think of one inside the pocket.

Could be wrong though. First year with a kid so didn't get to watch every game like I used to

And I am sure you will also agree, the safest place for a QB is in the pocket, and to get the ball out of his hands to his playmakers.

I've seen a lot of non-contact injuries and there's no reason that can't happen in the pocket on a drop back.  They are unlikely to happen, but they do happen.

Here is Hurts' injury:

Here is Tony Romo breaking his collarbone.

Aaron Rodgers out of the pocket but as a passer two different times:

Nick Foles 1

Nick Foles 2

Nick Foles 3

Because they aren’t Eagles QBs?

Don’t recall any crying about the previous Eagles quarterback. Only chants of MVP when he wasn’t.

Kinda making my point. I have said plenty of times in my recent post that he is the guy and the team needs to protect him as such.  An ankle injury here, a shoulder injury there, and before you know it he is wearing silly clothes trying to stay relevant because everything on the field has regressed.

Okay so we are in the complain about Jalen mode fine. Please tell me what is the better option? What available quarterbacks from this off-season has the Eagles where they are right now? What’s the move we take from here? Carr? (Benched) Jimmy G? (Hurt worse than Jalen) Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, or Daniel Jones? (Same basic hack) Who is this quarterback we have to have that will get this done better than Jalen?

After reading 6 pages of complaints about Hurts, and something bad can happen. .. I can't see the object to get involved in an argument with Perpetual Casandras. Instead of Enjoying  a magic of the magnificent season, TATErs seek fantasy perfection. I am loving this season. End of story.

Offensively and defensively one of the greatest seasons in franchise history and it’s kind of sad these people can’t enjoy it, because they hate the quarterback so much. Jalen’s taking them all kicking and screaming into the playoffs. 😂

Eagles fans are like Thanos in the comics. Even if we get all this success we feel like we are not worthy of it.

You didn’t look hard enough. There was definite complaining when "he who shall not be named” would use himself as a battering ram.

The way I look at it: We played 15 regular season games with Hurts, won 14 of them and got a first round bye.
That‘s what matters.

I'm not complaining about Jalen lol how does that keep getting missed? I'm discussing about him protecting himself through progressing in the pocket versus out of the pocket so he remains a top ten QB.  I keep saying pay the kid. How are you guys this f'ing dense?

Unless you’re on your knees taking Jalen in throat deep, it’s not good enough

I even said I think he could of hit 30tds in the air aka he is a top 6ish QB if he didn't default to a runner while discussing extending his career and paying the man and they still are fighting. This is why people hate Philly fans. They wanna fight for the sake of fighting and do this fake underdog crap when clearly we have been dominant most of the season. Hurts has had a great year as a whole and should develop in the pocket going further. That's not crapping on his year! It was a top 5 performance, but the style has 100% failure rate at protecting the QB from himself and the career running short. He won't be worth a damn by 28 at this rate.  I'm the bad guy for wanting to pay the young man and wanting him to distribute the ball more instead of taking off. I get it only takes one hit for any player, but the statistics prove outside the pocket is twice as dangerous. Murray and z. Wilson were hurt outside the pocket without even taking a hit! It's not where qbs should operate.
