Good time to remind: if you just want act like middle school cliques trolling and insulting each other go to RnR.

  • Just take a moment to realize how easy things look for this offense when the quarterback is right. This team just scored 28 points against a divisional opponent in a half. Just insane where things cou

These last few pages have been enthralling. If you could get paid by arguing over semantics, you'd blow this board right through the salary cap.

Does that even make sense? Can I confuse face emoji myself?

This guy's really gone off the deep end.

There is no way you give a QB not named Mahomes a 10 year deal, especially with his running style. Bodies break down quickly as the hits pile up. That's a great way to end up in dead cap space hell. Proof of that is Wilson or Cam.

I know ego is part of a massive contract, but he is getting 200+ million at least. He and his family will never have to worry about money again for generations. Hopefully, he takes $45 million or so a year and leaves room to put players around him to win the way Brady did. He can make the rest up with endorsements. I won't fault him for wanting $50-$53 million a year, but that will tell me how badly he wants to win.

If a troll is bragging about his intellectual superiority its a sure sign of the Dunning Kruger Effect.

That's a bit unfair because the Brady situation was always clouded in controversy : https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/02/23/ongoing-mystery-of-why-tom-brady-played-for-less

Getting paid market value doesn't mean you don't want to win, it means that is what the market pays.

Market value is different than setting the market value for others by being the highest paid QB. He can get paid and be set for life and still take into account the need to have other people on the team around him.

Brady also had a super model wife who made more than him, and made crazy dollars off endorsements. Heck knowing the cheating Patriots I wouldn’t be surprised if they paid him under the table too. 😂

Jalen has never said he’s trying to be the highest paid quarterback, but I can assure you Burrow and Herbert will eclipse him soon after his contract is signed.

I'm sure they will. Something 47 million a year should be fair and leave 5 or 6 million on the table for one or two other role players.

Why none of this is worth worrying about. The numbers will continue to climb and the Eagles always find a way to handle the cap. How many years going is that cap hell thread been going yet the Eagles still keep it going? Remember when the Eagles gave Vick a 100mil contract (and at the time seemed like major money) and did that cripple them for decades? Nope, because as soon as he was gone Foles was back, Wentz was here, and they won the Super Bowl. Wentz was made one of the highest paid young quarterbacks in football and did that destroy them like some of the EMB prognostications assumed? Nope considering they went to the Bowl two years after they dumped him (edit: two years after he cried his way out of town, because he couldn’t handle competition.) There’s always a plan.

Not worrying, but my hope is he doesn't go for the max $52/54 million. You are right the cap will keep climbing, but every bit will be important to keep them competitive.

Now, the market as a whole is going to have to level off at some point, but that's another discussion because if you look where Wentz was five years ago to where it will be when JB and JH sign it's not sustainable. I'm guessing they will get $53/54 a  year, but I could be wrong. Five years from now I can't see how a team could pay a QB 60-70 million.

Then again Mbappe is going to make like $110 million a year in soccer. I don't see how the NFL can sustain that though since it's mostly a US sport.

He could get $53/$54M and then it jumps up to $60M a week or month later with the Burrow contract. It will keep going up and up like it always does.  Makes it all the more important to get it done first now otherwise you find yourself with a Dak situation where the Cowboys kept kicking the can down the road and paid him $10M more than they could have if they just signed him around the same time Goff and Wentz got their deals.

Anything under 50m AAV is a massive win, by the time Lawrence gets paid, we might be reaching 70m.

You mean like most of us to at work. Like when when we are super successful at the company we work, they want to retain us as an employee and because of this offer us a salary that is pegged to top market conditions because we deliver and we say, please give me 80% of that offer because I want the company to succeed. Like that. Because we all do that.

I would say that the only issue is if he can deliver. If he has an extended career playing at the level he is playing at, then we as fans have lots of great years ahead and he is worth whatever he gets paid. If it turns Tyler Murray then it is a colossal mistake. Also, think of it as an investment in the future as well. Look at what the Seahawks did with Wilson when they were ready to move on.

No, nothing like that or even close.

It took from 1967 until 2018 to hit $35 million, and in the five  years since it's approaching $55 million. That's 57% growth in just five years. New TV deals are helping the cap rise to keep up with that, but at some point soon that level of growth will be unsustainable. Teams are going to be screwed that pay 70 million.

We have a league where WRs are climbing to near 30 mil now. QBs aren’t the only player escalating. Frankly I was more concerned when they gave Sam Bradford as much money as they paid him when he was a legit injury prone player, but also cause he wasn’t good. He wasn’t good and making well over 20 mil. Despite this we still fielded a team. Every team with a quarterback making a ton of money is still fielding a team, but this is why it’s imperative that they get a deal done sooner or later. The longer they wait, the more it will cost.
