I think Herbert with a real coach is going to be incredible. The dude's talent is flat out off the charts.

He is confusing to me. So many tools results should be more. But team is always hurt is seems and questionable coaching

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Seumalo was a Howie contract steal from a money perspective. But the injuries in 2020 and 2021 negate some of it. He's going to probably make more in the next two years than he did his entire career here.

He without question is.  But the haters like you that were flat out wrong about him will just continue to die on that hill looking like someone with their pants on the ground.

He’s not a hater of the player. He feels the injury risk is a (negative) trump card.

All kidding aside, the Eagles do have a need for a RB who is adept at getting the tough yards without having their $47-50M per year QB doing it.

Agree

but is hurts a good enough passer to beat teams without running? I don’t see that yet. I need to see more before i pay him top dollar.

but thats moot as they will obviously pay him. So we are married to hurts for the next 3 years

The likelihood the eagles have multiple significant signings in free agency is less likely than years past due to hurts extension upcoming and where they are cap wise. So it’s more likely with your best players that are also being some of the best free agents you are banking on their comp picks over lesser guys and unlikely to make multiple significant signings. It’s pretty likely bradberry, hargrave, seumalo and Edwards you are getting the comp picks for at least 3 of the 4 of those guys as you are likely only having one significant signing in FA. Add on I’m guessing the eagles are active in the guys who are cut that don’t get put into the comp pick equation. Like bradberry last year.

i think the eagles one somewhat major target player in free agency and then let the market play itself out and try to get some bargains later in FA that wouldn’t hurt their comp picks. I also think they’ll look at guys who are waived/cut to add as well like bradberry.

All of that is true, but none of it relates to the point I made about the NFL combining the value of multiple players lost into a higher Comp Pick.

In addition to that i see a qb with limitations. Not one that elevates players around him. He is elevated by them.

Huh? He's had 5 games in 2022 where he threw over 300yds and 1 where he almost threw for 400yds

Looks right to me. Even if you move Burrow to 2, the lowest Hurts can go is 3.

I may like Bradley Beal now

On one hand you could argue the Eagles would want an answer from Kelce before Seumalo hits free agency; on the other hand it doesn't really matter because Kelce would very likely only play one more season.  Either Seumalo is in the Eagles long term plans, or he isn't.

It was mentioned by someone on here a day or two ago that the Eagles likely let Seumalo walk, move Jurgens in at center and have Driscoll fight for the RG spot at camp.  I'm inclined to agree with that assessment.

And that would be terrible, no where good enough.

Bummer they missed out on Fangio

Nah

spare me the adolescent debate tactic of casting the opposing view as radical

I was with you at the beginning of this season. I was not a believer.  He changed my mind.  The kid has a relentless attitude to always improve, and improve he has.   I think he actually threw the ball better from the pocket than he did on the run this year.

We don’t have Mahomes or Burrow…and Allen is a bigger version of Hurts who makes more mistakes.  Yes he also has a stronger arm.

You have to look at the intangibles as well. For whatever reason, Wentz rubbed people the wrong way in the locker room.  One could argue that he’s still more talented than Hurts is, but did that really matter?  This locker room loves Hurts.  I get the feeling that any locker room would.

I don’t want them to overpay either, but they have no choice but to lock him up.  They literally lose the locker room if they don’t.

You have to at least admit that he surprised you this year

I’m not sure how comfortable I’d be letting both Edwards and White walk with just expecting Dean to fill one of their spots. They had the best LB play this year in a while and we shouldn’t take that for granted.

I’m also kind of coming back down to reality with the defense this season. They played well but I think a majority of that was due to the opponents they had this year. It is what it is and you can only play who you’re scheduled against, but they’ll never have that light of a schedule again when it comes to the quarterbacks they played this season.

I think you miss the coaching element. The one who surprised me this year is Nick. I think he is a good coach and a good fit for philly. Will be curious to see how much losing Shane matters.

i dont question Hurts work ethic and his team mates seem to love him. They loved wentz too when they were winning…its easier to lead in success.

reading blitzes? Arm strength? Genuine concerns. Teams know how to limit him now. Will be curious to see how things go over the next two seasons. Lets see how he can do when he has to elevate his team mates instead of vice versa.

i get people enjoyed the ride. We had a weak schedule and he did get hurt despite tons of talent around him on offense. recency bias is a thing. I prefer to evaluate on a 2-4 yr data set when i rank players.

Not so sure.  Next season they’ll face the following QBs:

ARI — who knows

SEA — Geno

SF — Purdy or Lance

LAR — broken down Stafford

NE — Mac Jones on regress thanks to Patricia and Judge

MIA — who knows

Jets — who knows

BUF — Josh Allen

KC — Mahomes

Tampa — who knows

NFC East — Dak, Danny Dimes, who knows

Other than Mahomes and Allen there are an awful lot of pedestrian QBs and question marks

Its a weird transition period in the league at qb

I agree about waiting to see more to know for sure.  But contract signings, and the timing of them, don’t always work in your favor.  They have to do a deal now. My gut tells me that he is the kind of player that cares more about winning and his teammates than he does about being the highest paid guy.  I will say it right now that if he proves me wrong on that, I won’t like it.

Also agree on Nick.  He proved himself to me last year when he changed philosophy mid season to be more run heavy.  What I like about him is that he adapts to what he has.  But I think equal credit goes to Jalen for a working on his craft and becoming a better passer. He just has.  It is pretty plain to see. Are there better passers out there? Sure there are.

What I love is the work ethic. It’s what I have to look at because options are limited. If I did not believe that he had a good one, and seen it at work, I’d be saying to make a change now.  He will never have the strongest arm in the league, but it’s good enough.  I also saw signs of him improving against the blitz towards the end of the year.   It’s not about finding perfection. They really have to extend him now.  I don’t think he lasts as long as a Mahomes does in this league, but he’s far better than most for the next 4-5 years

I believe he was the top rated passer from the pocket this year.

Get out of town. He's been in the hater train sipping haterade for years when it comes to Hurts.
