Ameer Speed, CB, Michigan State

After playing at Georgia for four years, the appropriately-named Ameer Speed transferred to Michigan State, where he started nearly every game. Despite playing corner, Speed was one of the most effective tacklers the program had. His coverage was a bit spotty, but there is either an opportunity to transition him to safety — at 6’3”, 210 pounds, that might make sense — or work with the ball of clay he is.

There simply are not many corners who are 6’3” with over 32-inch arms, and even fewer who can run a 4.34-second 40-yard dash. With average agility scores for his size and good explosion scores, there’s a lot to work with. Speed is the pre-eminent skill a cornerback needs, and it’s good that someone named Speed has it.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Smith and Carter are violent players too. We are going from a pretty darn good defense with a historic pass rush, to a team whos pass rush should be as good or better, but is now going to wear you out, and probably injure you and make you lose the following week because youre still feeling the effects of our game. Like the 49ers were last year. Like our offense was in 2017. Teams that played those teams lost the following week.

We are going from being scary good last year, to downright scary.

Texans got it right.  They got the best QB prospect in this class at #2 and the best impact defensive player at #3.  Really well done by Caserio.

Panthers got it wrong.  Shame on Frank for trading up from #9 to 1, giving up a bunch of draft capital, and taking a short, small QB prospect.  If Young wasn’t dictated by Tepper then folks are going to lose their jobs within 2-3 years there.

Colts gonna Colts.  Ballard has to be pretty much done there.  Messed up at the QB position for the last 5 years running, and betting it all on Anthony Richardson.  It will truly be miraculous if that franchise isn’t at rock bottom in a couple of years.

Eagles made two solid picks.  Giants made a good pick with Banks.  Turds made a meh pick with Mazi Smith.  Commanders made a horrid reach with Forbes.  DeVonta Smith will be able to muscle him around.  Awful reach taking Forbes at #16.

Except Stroud sucks

I don’t see them taking another dlineman unless it’s a R7 flyer.

I’d love to see Sydney Brown and then trade back down in the 3rd from 66 and pick up a 4th or 5th.

DE and CB are in the same boat. Its not a this year need, but its a very soon need. Brandon Graham isnt forever. And it would be great to knock Barnett out of the rotation. If theres a good DE there they shouldnt pass. Unless you think Nolan Smith is going to be a DE. But I suspect theyre going to go more with 2 stand up rushers now like a pure 3-4 to have Reddick and Smith both rushing off the edge.

Both Eagles picks headline the steals

can he punt and play slot while corner? I mean, that fits your mold...

None of them are franchise QBs.  This was a bad year to need one, just like last year was.  But HOU had to take a QB after punting last season.  Stroud has a slim chance; he’s a more talented and better prospect than Fields was.

Falcons should be sending the Lions a fruit basket tonight

Players I’m targeting for tomorrow that are realistically possible in the 62-66 range:

Sydney Brown

Cody Mauch

Kelee Ringo

Julius Brents

Rashee Rice

Matt Bergeron

Tank Bigsby

Jaylon Jones

Marvin Mims

Darius Rush

Blake Freeland

Nick was pissed at Ruben for his question

Why reach for a QB when 2 good ones next year. They won't be good next year

The lions by far had the worst first round. Besides the Eagles, the Cardinals actually had a really good first round when you consider the fact they got the player they wanted in Paris Johnson by really only moving back three spots in the end. They got a 2024 1st and 3rd from the Texans and lost their 34th overall pick but gained 33rd overall.

Now they’re also dopes for tampering to get Jonathan Gannon, and having to move back 28 slots because of it.

I’m still debating between two other guys for my last slot.

It’s like the Lions got their magical powers zapped somewhere this off-season. From throwing away Okudah to this draft draft, idk who they think they are.

Something asking the lines of "when asked about the incident he didn’t seem to take accountability” etc. from a zoom call on draft night. Just very poor taste.

Roob said they asked Carter about accident on zoom and it didn't sound like he held himself accountable.  Howie & Nick were mad because he was concluding that from a zoom interview.  It wasn't about his right to ask the question just what he said

F that! lump those pick together and trade up for Torrence!

He can also leverage the four Comp picks the way he did in the Bears trade.

I think Stroud will be top 10 before his first contract is over. The talent Houston puts around him will be the difference though.
