A challenge for the new DC:

The Eagles might have the most purely talented front 7 in the nfl.  SF and the Commanders also come to mind.  While the commanders have an outstanding front 7, the whole just feels a bit less than the sum of those parts, whereas the SF group is ferocious.

Be more like SF, less like Washington.

It will be a challenge to get the most from all of this young, inexperienced raw talent.  Find a way to get Davis in the backfield, not just plugging running lanes.  Don’t cast aside Milton Williams…he’s immensely talented and really came on last year.  Find a way to make Nolan Smith more than just Reddick insurance.

Would love to see both on the field at the same time.  Imagine a NASCAR package with Reddick, Williams, Carter, Sweat and Smith...

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

3 biggest issues for this team right now:

1. The entire outcome of a season relies on Lane Johnson staying healthy.  That is concerning.

2.  The offense needs a viable burning deep threat.  Watkins gets to try to earn that role again this year, but if he stumbles again, this jumps towards the top of 2024 draft needs

3.  Personnel utilization on defense, as stated above.

4.  (Lack of) youth in secondary.

5.  Elusive RB to better utilize in screen and passing game.

1. Looking at the team's record without Johnson over his career... that's nothing new.

2. I am not as worried about that.  Smith can get deep, so can Brown.  Watkins can go away.  You overvalue speed a bit.  Watkins might have cost the team a Super Bowl.

3. They have some really nice ingredients, undoubtedly... the DC needs to be a good chef.

4. Yup, especially CB.

5. I thought that was what Gainwell was brought in to be... 🤷‍♂️

BTW... you might want to work on your counting.

Looking at the short-term and long-term: LB and S are the 2 best fits. In terms of what the Eagles value, one of the next 2 picks should be a player who can be a swing tackle in 2023.

If the Eagles miss out on OL maybe they'll bring in Isiah Wynn to backup. He went to Georgia.

So I take it everyone is happy with the first picks?

That was actually Mama Kelce.

Ah yes - the coin flipping thing.

I'd settle for a RG/RT swing player.  But a swing tackle would be great too.

So does Levis go to the rams or the raiders?

The talking heads said Levis is a good system fit for the Rams…

Cant complain

carter has risk obviously but worth the gamble

Yes.  Carter is a concern as an immature reckless youth.  Hopefully he will learn from this tragedy.   He also might be a bit of a sloth at times... so hopefully the culture here will motivate him to play with maximum effort and utilize the massive amount of talent he has.

Did Howie ever say how many first round grades we had?

On the subject of Howie trading back from 30 vs. drafting Smith...

I think we owe a great debt of gratitude to Gannon and the Cards.  Howie going into the draft knowing he has #66 instead of #94 had to be looming large in his mind that he didn't have to get cute with #30, because he has the ammunition to trade back later and get some picks in the middle rounds where they are currently void.

I've given Howie crap over the years, and I think deservedly so for the most part (but might have gone overboard here and there), but his handling of this draft so far is nothing short of masterful.  Kudos.  Now let's hope that some of these defensive selections turn into what their potential is supposed to be.  It's been a long time since they've drafted a defensive player that lived up to expectations and went on to be a stud.

In a rare moment of TATEr unity, yeah that seems to be the case

Glad to see you popping in.

Maybe he’s matured.

He fielded calls but stuck with the board.  I do think he avoided his worst tendencies on the first day.  Maybe it was luck but not trading out of 30 showed a lot of patience.

Any way to get an accurate count of how many beers Kelce drank last night?

I wonder how long all the other GMs are gonna let Howie btch-slap them around.  Dude had to have made a deal with the devil.

Not having to take a DL in next year's class frees us up for WR/CB/OL too. Makes decision-making easier down the road. The beauty of drafting premium positions every year.

The board broke favorably too.  Hasn’t happened often for us in recent years.

Can someone jog my memory?   Who is the freakish athlete OT that is supposed to be a Day 3 selection?

At first I thought it was a super obscure reference to Vick's "my two best weapons" quote. But figured it was more likely just a pre-coffee brainfart.
