We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

At first I thought it was a super obscure reference to Vick's "my two best weapons" quote. But figured it was more likely just a pre-coffee brainfart.

I started coming up with more problems as I was typing haha

1. Looking at the team's record without Johnson over his career... that's nothing new.

2. I am not as worried about that.  Smith can get deep, so can Brown.  Watkins can go away.  You overvalue speed a bit.  Watkins might have cost the team a Super Bowl.

3. They have some really nice ingredients, undoubtedly... the DC needs to be a good chef.

4. Yup, especially CB.

5. I thought that was what Gainwell was brought in to be... 🤷‍♂️

BTW... you might want to work on your counting.

It’s possible we’ve all been underestimating eagles70 for a while.

That was a BS question by Reub.  All he had to ask if they thought Carter had been accountable.  Instead, he framed it like an attack based on a zoom call

Witt?

Too slow (me, not Witt).

Glad to see you popping in.

Hi.  😊

Quick question, and something you mentioned earlier, why the many calls (pre-draft) for the type of RB that is mostly redundant to Gainwell?    For example, I get the desire (pre-draft) to mock Jahmyr Gibbs to the Eagles, great player, but that always seemed sort of like a poor use of resources to me?    It would be one thing if the Eagles didn't have any RB on the roster to provide what Gibbs provides, but with Gainwell on the roster it seemed like a bad use of resources to project a Top 35 pick on a RB that just basically sends Gainwell to the bench.

If the Eagles go RB at all in the next couple of picks I'd rather see a RB capable of being the potential bell cow (Sanders or Penny type) or a larger more physical RB when they want to pound the ball.

Having said that, I think OL and S would be my preference with the next couple of picks (assuming the value of the player matches the pick slot).  But as long as it really is the highest rated player on their board, the positions don't matter much to me, they could add at almost any position and easily find an open roster spot for that player, except QB and maybe now DL.

I'd expect interest in the injury value of Vorhees too.

For me,  tonight is about continuing the theme of physical domination,  but on offense this time.  Zavala and charbonnet.

Mix in a trade down for more mid round picks and that's a perfect night.

Didn’t watch the draft live for many reasons, but I’ve seen the picks the eagles made and I hear good things from the manor about who we picked. If the eagles had won the superbowl it would’ve been a perfect twelve months.

I saw someone say with the drafts from last night coupled with what is already there, that the eagles defence is gong to feast for 17 games next season which I like to hear.

Wishlist tonight:

Sydney Brown at 62

Trade down at 66

Is there an Isiah Pachecho type RB in this draft?  Somebody that can be had in later rounds who can make a difference

Bergeron definitely feels like someone the Eagles would love.

In Stout we Trust when it comes to OL.

I'd love for him to get his hands on Jake Witt. He's not ready to start. Ideally he'd sit. But my god, put him in a weight room and in Stout University for a year.

Siri was shooting hate daggers by the end of that conversation.  Reub's comment is not wrong, but he should not have pushed it.  It is what it is, we drafted a guy with 'character concerns', but like bpac55 said ...

The Eagles are giving Jalen Carter everything he needs to be a successful player in the NFL.  You have unquestionably one of, if not best leaders in the NFL with Jalen Hurts.  You have some of the best veteran leaders the Eagles have ever had in Kelce, BG, Lane Johnson, Fletcher Cox, Darius Slay.  You have an organization that goes above and beyond to support their players and finally, you have 3 elite players who were all teammates of Carter along for the ride.

All Jalen Carter has to do is commit himself to the game.  His path is 100% in his hands and that path can follow the likes of Warren Sapp or it can lead to Leonard Renfro.

Well said.  Sometimes I forget about the Jalen Hurts angle on a guy like Carter, but you're right.  Lots of leaders on this team, we just need Carter to buy into the system and commit himself.  With the talent around him, I think he could be DROY.

I was also listening to the sports junkies on DC sports talk radio.  Fans are frothing at the mouth over the Eagles getting Carter and Smith.  Calling for the Commanders to draft offensive lineman to battle these guys.  LOL.

Carter made a stupid mistake. but now he gets an opportunity to prove himself as a decent dude who did something dumb.  Glad he didn't go up on stage and talk about getting paid immediately after getting picked like that idiot Addison did last night

I see Howie as a guy that knows the odds very well.  You can get outstanding value in the 4th - 6th round for a running back.  We need depth there, but I think we can get someone later.    I want Tank Bigsby, and not because I know anything about him, I just really like having a running back named 'Tank'.

Thanks JR.  Lurker these days mostly.   However, I have to come and read the thoughts of the Blog here on draft night.   Much respect for the thoughts and opinions found here, as has been the case for I think officially 2 decades now (Blog started in 2003-ish).   Man, we are all getting old! 😊

Difference market,  yes.  Paccheco, no.

I agree.   Obviously, I don't know what the Eagles are thinking exactly at RB.  But considering the RB's already on the roster, 4th thru 6th round feels right value wise for the type of RB they could add.
