So does everyone think/expect the Eagles to win the division next year to put an end to that silly trope that no NFCE team can win back to back division titles?

Is it a trope, or is it just history?  No team has repeated since the Eagles in 2002, 2003, 2004.  No trope, as I see it... just relating facts.  But, I do see the Eagles as poised to break that trend.

In addition to that i see a qb with limitations. Not one that elevates players around him. He is elevated by them.

Yeah Minshew proved this.

Trope might have been a poor choice of word. Stereotype maybe? It’s history, but many act like it means it’s bound to happen season to season or that means something more than just an unusual pattern.

I don’t think Minshew really proved anything.  I think a better game plan would’ve lead to victories in those games.

Don’t get me wrong, the team is much better with Hurts obviously.  But the quarterback wasn’t the only thing that was different about those games.  It’s almost like Nick wanted to stop showing people stuff.

Many of the pundits have nothing of value to add to the conversation... so they reach for low hanging fruit.

Reading blitzes? Arm strength? Genuine concerns. Teams know how to limit him now. Will be curious to see how things go over the next two seasons. Let’s see how he can do when he has to elevate his team mates instead of vice versa.

i get people enjoyed the ride. We had a weak schedule and he did get hurt despite tons of talent around him on offense. recency bias is a thing. I prefer to evaluate on a 2-4 yr data set when i rank players.

After the Tampa Bay playoffs loss, the words "Teams know how to limit him now” were frequently uttered.  As it turns out he progressed enough that it turned out that teams did NOT know how to limit him.  It will be interesting to see what his next incremental improvement will be.

And that would be terrible, no where good enough.

Driscoll as a Guard is far superior to Driscoll as a Tackle.

Not so sure.  Next season they’ll face the following QBs:

ARI — who knows

SEA — Geno

SF — Purdy or Lance

LAR — broken down Stafford

NE — Mac Jones on regress thanks to Patricia and Judge

MIA — who knows

Jets — who knows

BUF — Josh Allen

KC — Mahomes

Tampa — who knows

NFC East — Dak, Danny Dimes, who knows

Other than Mahomes and Allen there are an awful lot of pedestrian QBs and question marks

Well that can be the excuse next year if they win 11-14 games.  Didn't play any good QBs.

Alot of people were blowing the 49ers during their winning streak where most of the teams they played had losing records, I think 7 of the 11 games.  2 more were against Seattle that was barely over .500.  Yet all we heard was how great they are.

I expect the NFCE win totals to be down about 2 games from this season.  I think 12-5 will be a really good season, but likely not enough to get the #1 seed.

We learned this year that you can win a SB with Hurts as your QB. That's worth the contract even if he falls off at age 30. Give me peak QB play for 3-5 years over 10 years of Kirk Cousins.

Who said they want him as a guard? He's a back up regardless of position, you can't start Jurgens and Driscoll. That is such a major drop off, it would not be good.

Get out of town. He's been in the hater train sipping haterade for years when it comes to Hurts.

You need to have a bit less tunnel vision.  Toast abhors the whole concept of the running QB.  Hurts is simply one specific example of that particular style of QB.  It isn’t personal.  It’s generic.

The history isn’t the cliche’ … the way the history is talked about by the talking heads is the cliche’.

EDIT you just said the same thing.  If I sounded critical of you, please accept my apology.

I forget how the franchise tag works.  You can still tag and trade a player correct?  Would you trade 30 for Payne?  Would they do Payne for 30?

You can trade for a player on the franchise tag but it costs you draft capital + cap hit.   A metaphorical kick in both huevos for a football team up against the cap.

The point you are making about Driscoll was made about Wiz.  Learn from history.   That is your destiny.

You can't have that much of a drop off and expect to maintain the level of play we currently have. You could put these two in and save money however don't complain when our line begins to slip back into the top ten rather than being # 1. It's not destiny it's common sense.

I tend to think in either the 2nd or 3rd round (possibly 1st depending on who falls to us) we take a tackle that can also play guard. So you have him as the starting RG until lane retires. I would say they could do it in the first round. If Stoutland strongly identifies a guy in the first round, he’s sitting there when we pick and he believes he can be like a lane Johnson but play guard for a few years I think the Eagles listen to stoutland and go and get him.

i like Driscoll but the issue with Driscoll is he he’s had injuries when asked to play extensive snaps. His play isn’t seumalo but i do think he could be a solid starting guard but it’s a crapshoot whether you get him for 17 games or close to that.

Eagles win the NFC again next year as long as...

*They can effectively replace CB2

*They either draft the right successor to Semaulo or bring Kelce back and move Jurgens to RG for a year or two

* That OL can stay healthy

*Rookies from 2022 Class make progression to be effective starters in Year 2 (Davis, Dean, Blakenship)

The rest will sort itself out.

DE is a concern if Graham isn’t brought back. DT same thing but with Hargrave.

Hoping we go DE & CB in round 1 - same as my hopes last year.

If the top DE prospects are off the board at 10, where are you going?

I'm leaning more towards Broderick Jones if he available over a CB.  Although the argument can be made that the Eagles can draft OL later with Stoutland, I really like the idea of drafting another stud on the OL that can learn under Stoutland at OG and move out to OT later.

Looking at the projected options, though, I could also see a trade down with similarly rated prospects at a variety of valuable positions.

Absolutely, the board looks good to go CB  RD1 Pick 10 and DE/DT with the other pick in RD1.
