Why not go after Swift? Hunt does seem gassed

you are gonna have to give up draft capital and he always gets hurt. Hunt might be gassed but swift misses games and leaves games early. We have penny who always gets hurt. So you’d have 2 guys that miss time and are unreliable to stay healthy. And swift was in a timeshare with Williams and still was getting hurt. With Kareem hunt i literally just have to sign him for peanuts and give up nothing. If he sucks, i can just cut him. I get the lions drafted Gibbs but i don’t think they are just gonna give away swift for nothing.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Penny and Swift are both good. Yes, injury prone but good. Hunt isn't good anymore. It's a waste of time and he is a dbag on top of it. Plus, if I am not mistaken, Swift is Georgia. Not a bad addition to the hui

Literally you’re signing him for nothing. And you can release him if he sucks in camp. What do you have to lose? nothing. because if you get through the preseason and he sucks still then you move on. if he still has something then you get him dirt cheap. I think you guys are missing the point. It’s a potential lottery ticket for the price of nothing. He’s gonna get next to no guaranteed money as he’s been sitting out here so if he hits win and if he doesn’t i move on.

If the lions release him I’d be all for it or if they’d take a 6th or 7th but I’m betting they rather just keep him for a year then take that compensation.

There is the opportunity cost with the decision. They aren’t going to bring in Hint and Swift. Hunt occupies space a "potential” and there are better decisions even if he can easily be discarded

I think I love Nolan Smith. Why did he fall to 30 again? Injuries?

who says you’re even going to get Swift just cause he’s available. Because I’m betting there’s a market for him and you’re not the only team going after him especially if it’s gonna be dirt cheap (which i tend to think they’d want a 4th or a conditional 5th that can become more).

Secondly, lions are taking calls doesn’t mean they deal him this weekend. If they are dumb enough to trade him for pick 188 or a 7th go for it like i said before. However I’m guessing they say we rather just hold onto him for that little and get a comp pick when he leaves or the Lions might hold onto him closer to the trade deadline or training camp/preseason as somebody might have an injury, team gets more desperate and gives them better value then what they are being offered now. it costs them against the cap and dead money the same whenever they deal him prior to the season. Tbh if the Lions were smart, that’s how they should play this out if they are getting just a 6th or 7th rounder. wait until at least the end of the preseason and see if somebody has a running back that gets hurt. Because if I’m gonna get the same less than ideal compensation, then I might as well just wait and see if somebody gets hurt and a team gets desperate

Also on hunt let me just point out in the first 12 games he had 102 Carries and 4.1 yards per carry. 4.1 isn’t great but i don’t know if he’s just washed because browns running game in general wasnt as good the last 8 games in terms of yards per carry. Last 5 games they gave him just 21 carries. So about 4 carries per game average. Some of this is he wanted to be traded at the deadline or given an extension. he got upset cleveland didn’t do either. And then cleveland decided to phase him out and reduce his role even in the pass game as watson returned.  Also Chubb saw big drop offs in yards per carry the last 8 games of the year ( chubb after 9 games had a 5.65 yards per carry average. and then it dropped to 4.3 over the last 8 games). My point is he might be washed however some of this struggles down the stretch might have something to do with the entire team not just hunt

If you don’t run a 3-4 or a specific alignment like ours, he’s kind of a tweener. A first round pick on a guy like that isn’t always favorable.

Lions also just signed David Montgomery for 3/18mil. They could actually just cut Swift

Cutting him or trading him pre or post June 1 cost them the same dead money and saves the same amount cap (per overthecap). I’m guessing there’s a market for him (multiple teams have called already) so i don’t think they will just outright release him.

if they’re not gonna trade him this weekend (because they’re not getting what they perceive is good value), then they should just hold him through the preseason and see if a team has a running back get hurt. They might get more value at that point as the team needs a back and gets desperate. If one doesn’t can still likely trade him for the same lackluster compensation or release him and get the same savings

hypothetically, let’s say the Eagles go to training camp and Penny has a season ending injury. Now eagles down to gainwell, Scott and sermon. At that point swift has more valuable in a trade for the lions. Now if an injury doesn’t occur, i am likely still able to deal him for the same lackluster late round pick compensation but in 2024 draft instead of 2023 (2024 considered a better draft).

I don't necessarily want swift but, they just dumped a bunch of resources into 2 new backs so that suggests that swift is out the door one way or another. With swifts injury issues I can see them ultimately just having to cut him if they don't get at least a 5th for him.

Everyone trying to be like us.  Dallas drafts 2 guys from Michigan, Minnesota drafts 2 guys from USC.

Howie and Siri are bros aren't they?  They start the presser with Sirianni complaining about the picture and it goes from there.

Howie's comment from the presser about seeing Brown at the Senior Bowl play in ways he didn't at Illinois was interesting - clear they had concerns if he was limited or typecasted.  Know little about Steen, but clearly they were comfortable with him in that position.

I will wait for @just relax’s take on Steen. Seems to have decent quickness.

He looks like a swing tackle to start, having played a number of OL positions. Very strong. Good anchor. Hand placement looks pretty good. Those short arms probably make him more suited to guard than tackle. Seems to be pretty quick but I haven't seen any examples of him pulling and blocking in space. Alabama runs a lot of zone but they don't ask their tackles to pull much. Stoutland worked the OL at the Senior Bowl so I'm sure he has a good read on Steen, much much better than I. I'm betting when Jurgens moves to C, he'll be the RG.

Howie has said they hang out in the off-season

The Sydney Brown rankings are all over the place. Jeremiah had him pretty high. Brugler had him much lower. Zierlein had him rated behind several prospects and called him "stiff hips" who's a backup.

Bo Wulf noted safety seems a position the NFL tends to have trouble getting right, so we'll see who's right in the end. Still think they could add a free agent for depth so Brown doesn't have to compete for a starting spot as a rookie.

They already added 2 FA safeties in Edmunds and Evans. Dont see them adding another name safety unless its a camp body or UDFA.

Brown has the speed, agility, play awareness, and ball skills to play single high. You keep classifying him as a box safety. He isn’t.

No thanks on Hunt. He’s washed.

I’m classifying him as a strong safety because that’s essentially what he was at Illinois. He played most of his snaps in the box. Maybe he expands his game as a pro, but it’s a projection on your part.

I really don’t want to belabor the point, because I do like the pick.

Man, the Steelers are having a great draft.

Also, Adetomiwa Adebawore is still available going in to the 4th round.  Everyone's combine champion is still out there.  If Howie truly was in love with him at pick 30, isn't now the perfect time to make a move?

Really, really hope the Eagles find a way to get back in the mix here.  There's really no point in posting the players I'm interested in because there's most likely a 0% chance any of them fall to the end of the 6th round.

I'd be THRILLED if there was a way for the Eagles to get Kelee Ringo, Ivan Pace and Zack Kuntz.  Hell, I'd be happy with any of them or any combo of those guys. Pace has been my draft crush for months.  Adding his intensity with Sydney Brown's to go along with the rest of the UGA defense we have would be incredible.

These are names I expect the Eagles to be all in on in if they hold out until the 6th round.  Not players I want, but players I think they'd be all in on.

ASU RB- Xazavian Valladay

UCLA QB- Dorian Thompson-Robinson

Princeton WR- Andrei Iosivas

San Jose State DE- Viliami Fehoko Jr.

California Safety- Daniel Scott

Northern Michigan Tackle- Jake Witt

Arkansas LB- Bumper Pool

So I’m just now getting to read Roseman’s comments from last night. Interesting that he mentioned Brown’s play at the Senior Bowl showing them that Brown can play in the post. That’s good to see. I know Brown said he could play it but that he’s more comfortable near the LOS.

Peck injury, size, raw and lack of nominal production.

He’s an odd fit in a lot of defensive systems. Way too small for a traditional DE, so 4-3 teams are out. On top of that he didn’t really put up huge numbers. He had 3 sacks and is supposed to be a pass rusher. He’s more of a devastating athlete than a finished product, and a lot of teams want a guy with more refined psd rush moves.

Bret Bielema comping Brown to Bob Sanders warms my heart. He was a lot of fun.

Do we think he’s strictly a Reddick type guy or can he play some true LB-type snaps as well?
