really glad they didnt.

I thought it was him or a RB. I would have been ok taking a DT with that amount of upside.

How did the Eagles acquire that pick?  Did I miss something?

Traded their 2024 3rd

Their 2024 3rd will most likely be 90 or so.  They traded for pick 105 this year so it's not that huge a gamble.

It's not, but they clearly made this deal overnight targeting Ringo.  Saints said no, Raiders said no.  Texans said yes.  Smart move for the Texans, as well, to push some resources to next year as well after the move up to #3.

Any update on what we have for 2024 picks?

Round  How acquired
Eagles' own pick
Eagles' own pick
From Saints
Projected compensatory pick
From Vikings (can become fourth-round pick if conditions are met)
Projected compensatory pick
Projected compensatory pick
Projected compensatory pick
Eagles' own pick, or the Titans' sixth-round pick, whichever is better

The funny thing is this draft fits Howie's MO. He usually gets obsessed with a "theme" and runs with it.

It got him into trouble in the past because the theme was arbitrary and led to him taking lesser talented guys. Like the one "speed draft" a handful of years ago.

At least this time the theme has them taking talented guys on an all-time great college team.

When do we hire Kirby Smart as the next HC of the Eagles?

Got to say, howie appears to have nailed this draft.

The real test.

He has some rare traits. Not too many 6’2” 210 pound corners run a 4.36 forty and are known for clutch play on the best defense in the history of college football.

I wondered if Ringo might get a look at safety. DJ also mentioned this as a possibility.

This is wild

I'm fine with the Steen pick.  I know everyone assumes every OL drafted is a perfect decision and future pro-bowler thanks to Stoutland, but that's not the etiology of this pick.

Steen was a need pick.  After swinging for the fences with the first 2 picks, that's fine too.  He's a red shirt senior from the best offense factory in the country.  Despite that semi-bogus RAS score, he does not project as a top-notch long-term OT starter.  He also needs to work on lowering his base and is not a prototypical OG.  What he is, however, is instant insurance on an OL that has minimal depth and a few injury prone players...and a likely upgrade over Driscoll.  After a trade down out of round 2, that's a need pick to bunt the runner over.

And that's OK, smart drafting.  You can't swing for the fences on every pick.  They did that beautifully on Thursday night.  But we also don't need to romanticize the pick as something it's not.

What are you missing on his RAS as far as G/T are concerned, 40 ???  5.20   40  63rd percentile, looks like just 4 yrs in school not 5

In 2021, the second biggest issue (behind Gannon) with the defense was lack of speed. How times have changed.

Give me Derius Davis (punt returns to replace Covey) and a punter and this draft is a home run.
