We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

So really we probably broke even at worst?

Look at his game logs. A lot of those games he played in weren’t for long.

He had some of the same issues that Sanders had for a while. Where he would miss weeks and he would leave some games early and not return. So it looks like he missed 4 games but really he also left 2-3 games early and didn’t return

Bizarre right? The Lions probably didn’t gain anything by trading him but at least they don’t have to cut him and actually lose potential assets.

Wow.. this is my favorite draft of all time.

Swift and Penny are the best RB combo in the league...

When healthy*

A 4th round comp pick for Swift seems pretty unlikely.  But if he has a nice year, any comp pick is a bonus and clever add to the trade for us.

If he has a big year as our starter we might even get a higher pick

More likely as a rotational player we get a 5th or 6th back for him.

Adding two injury prone RBs to take carries and chances away from each getting hurt is a fine strategy.

And I think both of them when healthy are better than Sanders.

Howie obviously feels like we’ve got another legit shot at the Super Bowl this year.

could argue we’ve got the best roster in the nfl . Maybe better than last year?

Yup said that earlier today, Howie swinging for the fences, feels like the window is wide open, and taking his shot - AGAIN

Stetson Bennett was about 2 rounds away from making a lot of sense.

I'm too hung over to be this stiff!

And he does it in a way to not mortgage the future. His drafting philosophy had a major shift about 3 years ago. It's like he figured it out and that was his one weakness.

He is calling someone on the board to say F you

So heading into next year, who are the best UGA and 'Bama players?

So that definitely takes RB off the board today. So WR, LB, P, Jake Witt? Lol

OT- Vorhees, Witt

WR- Hutchinson, Perry, Demus

QB- DTR

LB- To'oTo'o, Sweell, Diabate, Pace

CB- Hodges-Tomlinson, Rush, Trice, Ricks..

S- Jason Taylor, Daniel Scott, Antonio Johnson, Jammie Robinson,

Bunch of pass rushers out there if we can find room. Ramirez, Abdullah, Hampton, Henry, Enechukwu (violence. get him on the practice squad).

TE- Whyle, Kuntz

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! Good call on swift sir

They were never going to just outright release him because he had too much talent and value. And teams were calling.

The thing was always going to be the Lions could’ve just waited until after the preseason. that was their leverage. Didn’t have to rush into the trader if they weren’t going to get compensation they thought was fair value. I think a 4th round pick is decent value for the lions. Because at the end of next year when he left and got a OK contract, they were likely only going to get a 5-6th round compensatory pick in 2025. So if they weren’t going to use him in the offense anymore and they were down on him getting a fourth round pick in 2024 (which is supposedly a good draft) is decent to solid compensation for the lions.

Now the one thing working for the Eagles in terms of draft picks is when he leaves after 2024 (don’t see them giving him a big money second contract) they are likely to get a compensatory pick. Which he has an incentive to play well as it’s a contract year.

my concern about running backs availability week to week is still there. Penny tends to have more serious injuries when he gets hurt and misses time. Whereas Swift tends to have more nagging type of soft tissues along with he also had a concussion that cost him time. He is very similar to what Miles Sanders was dealing with his first couple years here. Good when he’s on the field. But he would get banged up with a nagging injury (outside of concussion) and miss a couple weeks and he would also leave some games early.

If he has a nice year, he's only 24.  I'd love to keep a good RB around if it's possible.  What would be great is if Howie can give him a very inexpensive, incentive based 3-year contract before he plays a down.

Scheduling SB accommodations

Eagles one year contracts could pan out if some of the players succeed by producing more comp picks in 2025.  Interesting strategy.

Players I still want that might be available later in this draft

Jake Witt

Darrell Luter JR.

Bryce Ford Wheaton

Vorhees

Diabate

Roy

There was a tweet a while ago saying DTR could go earlier than expected. Hes pretty much been a very late rounder until more recently. Hes started to move up a little bit.

In addition to that tweet, the fact that teams go nuts for college QBs who are athletic with strong arms, even in the absense of any QB skill- DTR is one of those guys. He had the best MPH at the combine of any QB, which included Richardson and Levis.

As a perfect fit for the eagles, future Mariota replacement as the backup and perfect Hurts backup Id pick him earlier than most teams. Could call it a reach, but for us specifically, I wouldnt have minded 4th round for him. Hes one of the guys I really want to come out of this draft with.

I agree with you on wanting DTR.  62 mph throw.   1.51 10 split.  Last year,  the fastest QBs in the NFL were 1) Fields, 2) Mariota, 3) Hurts, 4) Jackson.  DTR,  with a 4.56 40 and 1.51,  would be up there.
