We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

The rest of the NFCE is having terrible drafts. Cherry on top

The drafting of Reagor and the absolute flogging that came with it really whipped Howie into shape.

He's been an unbelievable drafter since. 1 step back to take multiple steps forward.

Step 1 choose the better player from the better college lol.Ā

The Giants have done well.

Howie has made some horrible picks and some panic moves that would have gotten other GMs fired.Ā  He's not perfect.Ā  But Lurie's undying commitment to Howie has enabled a few things.Ā  One, the lessons he has learned benefit us rather than his next team.Ā  Two, he really can play 3d chess.Ā  He doesn't have to make marginal moves to make the owner happy.Ā  He probably has plans already for managing the inevitable (and ideally distant) decline and implosion of the nucleus of this current roster.Ā  He's been burned by hanging on too long, burned by being too sentimental, burned by spending too much, burned by spending too little, etc etc.Ā Ā

The Eagles have more of an eye on the future than any team in the NFLĀ Ā

I believe at a point in time where you seemed overly negative about him I admitted he has earned some criticism for extending players too long (though I understood the rationale for doing it), but I said, if there is any GM who youd want to dig us back out of this mess, its Howie Roseman.Ā

He is the best there is. Things are cyclical. And with Howie, the lows are never too low.Ā

If I like this comment, is that a criticism of Howie?

Yes, and for the Cowboys I like Mazi and Overshown. Schoonmaker is ok too.Ā

Swift and Penny? That's a nice combo.

I wouldn't mind Michigan WR Ronnie Bell in the 6th.

I like Dennis nice backerĀ

It's always a balance.Ā  JJAW and Barnett were top college players from big time schools who faced good to great competition.Ā  They lacked the athleticism to survive in this league as less productive college players surpassed them in the NFL.

Reagor was an overcorrection.Ā  Jefferson was the great college player with good but unspectacular athleticism, while Reagor was the inferior college player with hyped athleticism.

Now, Jefferson had far more athleticism than JJAW/Barnett and Reagor also wasn't nearly as athletic as the hype (that's why they have the combine).

I think that it's fair to say that this is a Super Bowl or bust season at this point.Ā  Ā It will be interesting to see how the team handles having the target on their back each week.Ā  Ā Very few teams that lose the Super Bowl manage to even be a legit contender the next season.Ā  Of course, the NFCĀ isĀ down.Ā  The best QB in the NFC is... Hurts?Ā  And the next best is... who exactly?Ā  Dak?Ā  Cousins?Ā  Goff?

yeah he is.Ā  Smaller guy but when you watched Pitt, if Kancey wasn't making a play, Dennis was.

Overhyped athleticism.Ā  His combine should have raised more eyebrows than it did.

Hurts gets docked major points for only being elite 1 season.Ā  Even Wentz managed that.Ā  If Hurts keeps it up...

Then it's Hurts, big gap, Dak, huge gap, regular season Cousins, then Goff.  In the playoffs, Goff steps up to #3 if they even make it...maybe even surpasses Dak 🤣

you can’t watch one without the other showing up
Ā

Type of player you move all overĀ

Off topic, but I do think Goff is a bit of an underrated QB.Ā  He's accurate, smart, reliable.Ā  He has won in the playoffs.Ā  And despite the quirky draft, he's got a pretty good team around him.Ā  Mcvay lost patience after one down year and wanted a bigger arm that he could just micromanage and telegraph passes to him over the helmet comm.

In a conference that is embarrassingly bad at QB, Goff is darn close to the top of the list of non-Eagle QBs I'd least want to face in the NFC playoffs.Ā Ā

Eagles just winning all over this weekend

Ā

Best remaining:

Henry To'oTo'o

Jaren Hall

Antonio Johnson

Luke Wypler

Jaelyn Duncan

Did any of the others in the NFC have even 1 elite season?

he must have a major weakness.Ā Ā  He has the size and the speed and he's been predicted all along as like a 7th.

Body catcher

Day 3's coverage of the draft continues to be the best. It was the best last year, same this year.
