I think Manu was lured into the NFL due to the strike that year.   He's a big fan of labor negotiations.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Yeah but they’d be stuck in that area that Howie said he actively avoids. What is NYJ with Derek Carr, best case? Keep in mind he just had easily his worst year as a pro. Even if you blame everything on Josh Mcdaniels, Carr added an all pro receiver yet manger to complete only 60% of his passes. In 2022 thats not just bad, for a QB on a top contract that’s terrible.

Maybe they squeeze into the playoff, what then? An away game in Buffalo? Cincinnati? In my opinion it’s better to save the money, be absolutely sure Zach Wilson isn’t the guy, or either move up in this draft for Levis/push for Rodgers. Signing Carr is admitting defeat before the season starts

Rodgers' M.O. is to come up small in the playoffs and throw everyone under the bus but himself.  His price in contract and draft capital would be a horrible waste of resources, for a guy likely to play only one more season.  Add in he might be the worst teammate in all of pro sports.

The Jets cannot draft another QB, much less move up in the draft to draft a QB.  Joe Douglas might as well wear a "Fire Me Now" t-shirt if he tries it.

Not every organization targets a Super Bowl.  The Jets are simply hoping to become relevant again.  2010 was the last time they even made the playoffs; the Giants somehow getting in last year has ramped up the pressure on the Jets even more.

And you don't even acknowledge his time as the 3rd down specialist QB in 86.  😒

He got hurt on the first play. Never saw more info beyond that, but I can't imagine he left the game to get checked out just for funsies.

Miles Sanders to the locker room

The Eagles running back Miles Sanders was apparently injured on the first play of the game. He ran to the outside and lost a yard. He then went into the medical tent, and the locker room. Sanders returned to the sideline with his helmet on for the next possession.

If he returned with his helmet he wasn't injured

My highschool coach would always say are you hurt or are you injured, if you're injured you can't play, if you're hurt get back in there and suck it up.

By the time Superbowl rolls around everybody on the team is hurt, it's not an excuse for playing as bad as he did esipecially since he wasn't " injured" before his first horrible carry

An injury isn't a binary state of playing or not playing. Plenty of players try to play through injury at less than 100% effectiveness. By your logic, Mahomes was never injured.

Sanders had 7 carries for 16 yards in the SB

HEY!!  Don't you forget .... he was also 0.1 seconds away from fumbling away a TD.  Had to be reviewed and overturned on replay.

He was actually just still running towards the sideline and they realized he ran all the way into the locker room before staff could find him

Im in the same boat as you.  I became a fan because of Cunningham when I was 8-9 years old and stuck with the team through thick and thin since then.

He didn't show up on any injury reports so if he was it was t enough to put on a report nor was it enough of injury to put on injury report leading up to super bowl.

Suggesting he played poorly in the super bowl because he had an injury that didn't show up on any Injury report a month prior to the Superbowl is a bit of a stretch.

If thats the case the whole team was ' Injured" as that late in the season everyone is " injured"

A simple google search will inform you

I think 35 years of being a fan and you can lose any bandwagon label

Bennie Logan was far better as a rookie than Davis, so he's got a ways to go to be a bigger Bennie Logan.

Bennie Logan was given one job and had a specific role in 1 base front defense. He wasn’t asked to be a NT, 4-3 DT, and 3-4 DE.

JD was a rookie. I’m expecting him to make a big jump in year 2. If he doesn’t then it makes your skepticism worthwhile.

Mahhomes wasn't injured, he was hurt, an injury would have been a broken leg, one can't play on a broken leg or rip off a 40 yard run in the 4th qtr.

Sanders wasnt Injured he was like pretty much everybody else on the field hurt.

If he was hurt to the point he couldn't play any longer they wouldnt have given his helmet back.

If he was hurt to the point where he couldn't be effective then the coaches should have sat him down and given his carries to gainwell and Scott both who did a little more with their carries

I'm not buying that Sanders crap performance in the Superbowl was because he was playing Injured, if he was playing hurt then fight through the pain and perform like Lane and mahhomes.

And even if he was injured/hurt Sanders certainly hasn't used it as an excuse so why should we?

That’s a different situation I think, but I agree if he didn’t get extended he’d have a worse market than even Carr.

but seriously, let’s start listing guys. I bet we could name 15 without even getting to Carr

1. Mahomes

2. Burrow

3. Hurts

4. Allen

5. Herbert

6. Rodgers

7. Stafford

8. Jackson

9. Lawrence

10. Tua

11. Goff

12. Prescott

13. Cousins

14. Smith

15. Wilson

16. Murray

17. Watson

Only after those guys would I consider Carr the best option. He’s in the grouping of Garropolo/Purdy/Tannehill/Fields/DJones/MJones/Ryan. Is he even the best QB in that group? If the New York Jets traded for Deandre Hopkins and were absolutely loaded for a run in 2023… would you be able to convince them Carr would make it further than Garoppolo?

I’d have Lawrence higher than you have him but understand why. His last 12 games of the year was pretty remarkable. He had 22 tds to 4 ints and completed 68% of his passes. I tend to think Stafford for his career is obviously better but he also is coming off multiple injuries and older now. I think Lawrence was better and likely is now until Stafford shows me he is healthy and not gonna get destroyed behind that bad oline

Lamar i can see the case as he’s super talented too and won a macho. but he is also coming off back to back injury seasons where he missed at least a quarter of the season if he is healthy i think he’s better but hasn’t stayed healthy in two years. I’d probably prefer Lawrence just cause i think Lamar’s health scares me and i think both are super talented.

that said I’d take carr over murray. Murray’s injury could hurt a ton of what makes murray potentially special. And i don’t think teammates truly love murray. Carr i don’t think is great but i don’t question that his teammates play for him and isn’t nearly as much of a diva as murray. Frankly I’ve thought murray was overrated for a really long time so i might be bias.

Me too, became a fan in 89 mainly because of Cunningham.

I remember in the early days of the EMB other posters would question others and my fandom and insinuate our posts were wrong because we weren't born in Philly or born eagles fans.

Many of those posters are no longer around because they were banned or probably became giants fans...😒

I never had a strong take on Sanders besides not to pay him big money. But after that SB showing, I am leaning more towards moving on despite the price.

It’s like that one commercial where it’s like "i love you but I’m not IN love with you”

I wouldn't sign Sanders to anything more than a couple million for 1 year. He's not a winning RB to me.

I just don’t want to pay a running back a lot of money when it’s a good running back class. Plus sanders the previous two years has missed at least a quarter of the season with an injury. He avoided it this year but I’m always weary in a contract year when that happens.

this is less about his talent and more i rather use the money spent on him at more vital positions and go a cheaper route on rb via draft. As long as they don’t pumphrey it in the draft.

Sirianni said that about the defense but their actions are saying a different story. It would make no sense to hire someone like Joseph to call the D in the Gannon style. We'll see what happens here.

It's a positive that Sirianni changed things about himself for sure. I'm still a bit concerned he might be too loyal to his coaches. Michael Clay should be fired but Sirianni put an immediate squash to that and acted as if it wasn't even a thought in his mind. Moorehead deserves to be fired, but seems like he's coming back. He can't even go one PC without talking about Frank Reich or his Mount Union coach. This is more of a long term concern of mine as mostly everything is currently working. When more thing's aren't, I'd be interested in his response to handling it.

Joseph feels like an "overcorrection” (use that term loosely) to what they previously had in Gannon

Joseph has a good rep. It's possible he reinvents a little with new personnel.  Coaches do evolve and improve. Sans Fangio I don't see any slam dunk hires. All of them have reasons they could succeed or fail

Yeah Lamar and Stafford ranking are assuming they’ll be fine next year. With Murray vs Carr I see Carr’s ceiling being way lower, as well as his floor. Murray’s floor is only based on if he’s available or not. When he’s been in, he’s been really good every year.
