PFF loved McKee - had him as the 81th ranked player:

I don't mind an accurate quick decision-maker as a backup QB.

Very good prospect. Fell because he's still inexperienced, in part because he got cancer as a teenager.

I don't understand the dislike for the pick.

I think the Ravens had it all wrong.  When you have a qb like that, you don’t want a backup in the same mold.  Any backup with that athleticism who comes cheap can’t pass.  So you’re running the same offense the opposing defense game planned for, except your qb can’t pass.

Better to have someone that just drops back and dishes it.  I think McKee projects as an ideal backup and is the kind of guy that, if we get lucky, just might extract a pick from a team 2 years from now.

do i get a point in the draft contact for picking the correct punter with a pick we held? lol

He's a QB who is nothing like our current QBs. If he becomes the backup at any point and has to play, what playbook are they using?

I just don't want to miss out on Witt for M'Fin McKee.

It’s an interesting philosophy. I can dig it.

McKee is an interesting choice. A sixth round gamble.  Most sixth rounders are gambles.  Really only has two years experience.  If we believe in Stout for OL, why not Johnson/Tanney.  Let’s not forget but this time last year there were proponents of starting Minshew over Hurts. Kid has the tools, just bad techniques and habits.  He’s basically Levis, strong arm, accuracy issues.

Howie just needs to do something at LB

The same one. They just won't call QB running plays. You can still run RPOs, which he did a lot of at Stanford.

Missed out on the goggle punter by trading our pick just ahead of Bill B… Siposs dodges another bullet.

Speaking of the Ravens, they have had an unusually quiet draft.

I think slot & LB will be training camp moves. That's ok.  He's covered a lot of ground so far

Maybe coach Johnson put in a request … maybe

I really don’t mind them taking a quarterback in the sixth round. If you can just develop him to be a competent backup quarterback then we don’t have to sign guys like Marcus Mariota in free agency and save some money. You would hope to have him be competent for three years. That’s a win for a six round pick.

The defense is going to ask the same question.

If you adjust for inflation from the time of the comment, a backup qb is worth about $15m per year.

Back to the QB factory. Build him up and then trade!

Lol

Get Jake Witt

UDFAs to get?

Ben VanSumeren LB
Ryan Swoboda OT
Trevor Reid OT/OG
Ameer Speed (ex Bulldog) CB/S
Starling Thomas CB
jason taylor II S
Nico Bolden  S

Have feeling we trade back into 7th for our next years 6th rounder.  The 5th we received should be top 5 in 5th round while ours should be one of last picks in round 6.  Plus we still have Titans 6th rounder which should also be high
