Noticed that Gainwell is trending on twitter and the amount of people who think Gainwell can be the lead back is a lot more than I thought.  I like Gainwell as a change of pace, passing game option but no way is he a lead back.

I don’t like a situation where there is a lead back at all. Bring in a north/south bruiser and pair him with Gainwell/Scott

I could see him as a lead back, he's not a guy that's going to push a pile but neither was Sanders.

He's one of  a handful of  eagles to have 100+ rushing yards in a playoff game but Health Sherman was one of those too so🤷‍♂️

Point being he's a guy that can be effective though I don't see him as a 20+ carries a game guy but again Sanders wasn't either and most teams use RB committees these days anyway very few " Lead Backs" in a hyper passing league. I'm fine with 3 guys sharing the load with gainwell being one even if he got the majority of carries in that committee.

I don't think Miles Sanders is going to get a lot of money. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he sits out on the FA market for quite a while with underwhelming offers. The league has caught up to not paying RBs big money(well, everyone except Dallas) and on top of that with a deep RB market, he's like the 4th or 5th best guy in the list. So when people say "The Eagles can't afford him" I wouldn't be shocked if he gets like 6 mil per season. The Eagles can afford that. I think the Eagles move on because they think they can get someone just as good, if not better than him. I never got the sense the Eagles thought highly of Sanders as a player. And with his opportunities as a receiver dropping significantly, I think the Eagles want a primary back who can catch passes, which Sanders doesn't really do much anymore.

Overall I think the Eagles will run less next year.  There are so many free agent RBs that one decent vet will be around at the end for low $

I have "Cocaine Bear" and "Mad Dog" trending for me.

Guys like Edwards, White, Epps, and possibly even Sanders due to the quality of the FA class, and RB drat class, are probably pretty likely to stay here on team friendly deals after they dont find a lot of money elsewhere.

A pretty cool peak behind the curtain.

I wonder if he filmed any of the team speeches the day before the SB

Yeah Lamar and Stafford ranking are assuming they’ll be fine next year. With Murray vs Carr I see Carr’s ceiling being way lower, as well as his floor. Murray’s floor is only based on if he’s available or not. When he’s been in, he’s been really good every year.

Eh murray has started off really good or playing better to start every year. Then he gets banged up and finishes season with a drop off besides this yesr where he only played 2 games and 3 plays after the midway point. I think murray has more talent and likely higher floor but i think carr has much better intangibles like leadership whereas murray has a crap work ethic and i know there’s guys in that locker room that aren’t very found of him

Rookie year: first 9 games he had 9 tds and 4 ints and 65% completion (89 Qb rating). Last 7 games 64%, 11 tds and 8 ints (85 Qb rating)

2020: first 8 games he had 16 tds, 8 rushing tds, 7 ints, 99 Qb ratings and 68% completion. Last 8 games 10 tds, 3 rushing tds, 5 ints, 89 Qb rating and 66%.

2021: first 8 games had 17tds, 3 rushing, 7 ints, 110 Qb rating and 72%. Last 9 games missed 3 games had 7tds, 2 rushing tds, 3 ints, 89 Qb rating and 65%

2022 (only played 11): so his first 8 games 10 tds, 2 rushing, 6 ints, 85 Qb rating and 66%. Last 2 and 3 plays he got banged up then hurt for the year but had 4 tds, 1 rushing, 1 int, 97 Qb rating and 67%.

the last year was an outlier but really 2 games after the 8 game mark then he got hurt came back and had the acl. I tend to think he’s overrated also find this hilarious

I don’t want either cause both get you stuck in purgatory

Joseph has a good rep. It's possible he reinvents a little with new personnel.  Coaches do evolve and improve. Sans Fangio I don't see any slam dunk hires. All of them have reasons they could succeed or fail

I’ve said this for a while Cardinals completely shafted the eagles of their plan A. If the cardinals interviewed Gannon before the divisional round and the eagles knew he was a more likely leaving or high consideration for that job i think fangio and the eagles would’ve likely talked more about him staying, being the DC and I’m guessing fangio would held off a little longer before committing to Miami. Once it became obvious demeco was becoming the Texans coach it was assumed Gannon was coming back as no one else had interest.

Howie needs to bring him back

I actually like Clark Phillips a lot especially if we keep pick 30 or more slightly back to get more picks. That said at the moment i think he’s likely 2nd rounder and likely closer to the start of the second round

If woods is cheap i actually think it’s a decent pick up kind of like Jarvis Landry coming cheap too

Yeah saying Hurts getting $4M a year would be the only good contract for him isn't a clown take.  I take it back!

It isn’t a "take.”  It is a contractual reality.

Bennie Logan was given one job and had a specific role in 1 base front defense. He wasn’t asked to be a NT, 4-3 DT, and 3-4 DE.

JD was a rookie. I’m expecting him to make a big jump in year 2. If he doesn’t then it makes your skepticism worthwhile.

Davis did not have a good season as a rookie.  He was big and physical in college and won most of his battles relatively easily.  At NFL, everybody at the LOS is big and physical, you need skills and techniques to win.  He needs to get stronger and learn some skills in the off-season.  Take the initiatives and work with some coach/guru to sharpen his techniques.  Let's see if he could elevate his game then.

Mahhomes wasn't injured, he was hurt, an injury would have been a broken leg, one can't play on a broken leg or rip off a 40 yard run in the 4th qtr.

Sanders wasnt Injured he was like pretty much everybody else on the field hurt.

If he was hurt to the point he couldn't play any longer they wouldnt have given his helmet back.

If he was hurt to the point where he couldn't be effective then the coaches should have sat him down and given his carries to gainwell and Scott both who did a little more with their carries

I'm not buying that Sanders crap performance in the Superbowl was because he was playing Injured, if he was playing hurt then fight through the pain and perform like Lane and mahhomes.

And even if he was injured/hurt Sanders certainly hasn't used it as an excuse so why should we?

Not really interested in arguing semantics here. I can barely stomach the thought of just talking football as it is, after enduring that gut punch of a game, but the injury report lists players with a variety of designations. If they were "injured" according to your definition, there would be no need for multiple designations, everyone would just be listed as OUT.

Thought about him, but I think this team needs a true slot WR. I know Woods has played there a little bit but I'd try to get someone better for that role.

Even though Watkins is meh I really liked that the #3 WR was a quality deep threat with top end speed.

I hope Jalen hurts continues to play the way he did in 2022. If he does whatever you pay him is worth it. let's hope that’s what happens.

But there’s a chance he does with Josh Allen did. in 2020 Josh Allen was MVP like. And then 2021 and 2022 he was still really good but didn’t play play at the level he did in 2020. And then they started paying them at that point. Which makes it harder to have a team built up like the Eagles just had to get them to the Super Bowl. So howie is gonna have to be good at drafting, finding some diamonds in the rough in free agency to make up for the cap you don’t have with the contract at Qb.

imo josh Allen has to play like an MVP to overcome all the Qb obstacles in the AFC and it’s gonna be with a roster that’s limited in what they can do in FA.

It is not a given that the Eagles get back to the Super Bowl. Now they have a better shot because of Jalen hurts and his work ethic and drive. Also it’s nice being in the NFC where i think the eagles road isn’t as daunting considering the QBs you have to face along the way. However, the Eagles are going to have to be good at drafting and smart with their money in free agency to get themselves back there and be able to win the Super Bowl. Hurts contract is worth it if he continues on this trajectory and this level or close to this level of play but it does make it harder to build the team through free agency and trades. Need to be good in all aspects to maximize the window

I actually like landry better. I think he’s a more ideal slot receiver and he’s likely much cheaper considering the injuries he had this year and production.

Im in the same boat as you.  I became a fan because of Cunningham when I was 8-9 years old and stuck with the team through thick and thin since then.

Same here. As a birthday present, my wife paid for a Cameo video from him. Was pretty cool / surreal to hear him wish me a happy birthday and talk about his old playing days, then ending it by thanking me for being an out-of-town fan. Though one of the weird things about it, was that during him reminiscing about his playing days, he said he can only throw a football about 30 meters now, not like 70 meters back when we was younger. No clue why he said "meters" instead of "yards", but still an awesome gift none the less.

Maybe a by product of his track and field daughter?  He coaches her.  Just thinking that their parlance is all in meters.

So Eagles fans are basically people from Philly and people who became fans with Cunningham and stayed loyal all these years? I'm also in that second crew. Started with Cunningham, then the Buddy Ryan D of that era cemented it and I've never looked back.
