Yeah true, I think he was a world-class high jumper himself prior to the NFL.

So Eagles fans are basically people from Philly and people who became fans with Cunningham and stayed loyal all these years? I'm also in that second crew. Started with Cunningham, then the Buddy Ryan D of that era cemented it and I've never looked back.

There's probably a younger group of out-of-towners that became fans during the McNabb/Reid era, but they're probably on reddit or discord or wherever else the young whippersnappers congregate these days.

At the current price for FA WR talent, coupled with the greater frequency of drafted WR making an earlier impact I'd prefer fill the slot WR position from a 3rd/4th round draft pick.  Brown and Goedert are already somewhat expensive, and Smith will be.  Get someone younger and cheaper for some work out of the slot -- they should, by definition, be the 4th target in the Eagles offense.

I still think the Eagles are gonna be in on Kareem hunt in free agency. They were smitten with him during training camp joint practices. I think they’ll do a contract to get his cap number  low with avoidable years and less than what mile Sanders is going to get. Frankly, I think Kareem Hunt in this offense is a great fit.

I was a Cunningham guy, that's why I'm a fan. My family is all over the place with football teams. Him and Barry were my two favorite players growing up, had I not lived in NJ I may be a Lions fan lol.

Will we have our coordinators in place by then?

I know there was some back up quarterbacks talk in here a couple days ago. I don’t rule it out that the Eagles in the third round take quarterback. I think they’ll use the he is cheap for three years and then you can build him up and groom him and flip them to get the pick back if not more. Add on the fact of Jalen hurts had an ankle injury in 2021 where he missed the game and then needed off-season surgery. Then this year he miss two games with a shoulder injury. I think they were like him to miss a third just so he would’ve been fully healed. But they couldn’t do it because Minshew looked as bad as he did against the Saints and it required  winning the following week to secure the number one seed. So I can see the Eagles using a third round pick on a back up quarterback.

Bennie Logan was given one job and had a specific role in 1 base front defense. He wasn’t asked to be a NT, 4-3 DT, and 3-4 DE.

JD was a rookie. I’m expecting him to make a big jump in year 2. If he doesn’t then it makes your skepticism worthwhile.

Oh he's already earned skepticism.  He may end up being a HOF all-pro, but his rookie year earned skepticism.

Yeah interviews are Monday with D players. I  think we'll hear by end of this week. If not it's probably Wilson

They sure as hell better. Being at the combine without coordinators makes no sense.

Just scout for a schemeless D.

Lol try and post this in the Hurts thread. You’ll get shouted down that Hurts has never been injured and all other QBs are more injury prone than him.

Its why I’m most intrigued in the structure of his contract. I think the overall money isn’t all that interesting; rather, how Howie builds in outs from the contract is interesting. 3 years? 5 years? It’ll say a lot I think about how the FO views Hurts ability to stay healthy

Bennie Logan was far better as a rookie than Davis, so he's got a ways to go to be a bigger Bennie Logan.

I feel like Davis was a victim of Gannon's poor usage more than him not performing when given an opportunity. Davis gradually had more impact as the season progressed.  He was progressing prior to hurting his ankle.  He took awhile to return from an ankle injury.  He was getting more snaps than Joseph towards the end of the season.  Gannon was the real problem. He was unduly reluctant and conservative with Davis. I didn't see Davis having bad snaps.  He was stout for the most part and although he didn't get to the QB. He was often able to push o-lineman into the pocket.  Why Gannon thought he couldn't use him to spell Cox in 4 man fronts is a mystery to me.  I think Gannon was stuck to a script and couldn't think about using him outside of that script. He certainly could have provided better play than Cox often did early in the season.  Cox did get blown off the ball and pushed around when they were in 4 man fronts.  Cox's play improved when Suh limiited his snaps.  There's no reason Davis shouldn't have been in that rotation but for Gannon's rigidity.

Lol. I’m so off on my days right now. I thought today was Monday and the press conferences were in two days because I was home with a sick kid yesterday.

Howie is screwing up AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

FIRE HOWIE NOOWWWWZZZZZ!

If you can ever be certain of something this offseason, know that we won’t be signing any big name RB and may not even draft one until the 6/7th round or UDFA

It was kinda cool that one year Chip went Yolo and signed RB's to monster deals and traded premium assets for a LB. Until the games actually started.

I mean he had an ankle injury where he missed the jets game. Probably would’ve missed another if they didn’t have a bye week the following week. Then had offseason surgery due to the injury where many have talked about it effected how he played late in the year

He missed 2 games this year and was basically forced into action week 18 cause they didn’t trust minshew in week 18 to secure a first round bye and the 1 seed. I think the eagles probably realize having a better backup (who’s also cheap) might have prevented hurts from playing week 18 and helped his shoulder. Hurts looked great in the SB cause i think his shoulder was closer to 100% with the bye week and being nearly 7-8 weeks removed from the injury

so he hasn’t had a major devastating injury but he has had some minor injuries causing him to miss a game or two. I think the price of a backup Qb in FA is going to be too pricey and they’d prefer to draft and develop a kid behind hurts and then try to flip him after 3 years of cheap service for more than what they spent or at least get what they put into him back.

Ditto here, in that second group.

Not really interested in arguing semantics here. I can barely stomach the thought of just talking football as it is, after enduring that gut punch of a game, but the injury report lists players with a variety of designations. If they were "injured" according to your definition, there would be no need for multiple designations, everyone would just be listed as OUT.

I feel ya, I'm not interested in arguing with you either, I'm equally not interested in manufacturing excuses for Sanders , not that you are, I'd rather not go that route.

I fully expect them to draft a QB.  If they let Minshew walk, it would not surprise me if they went for a QB in the top 100 picks.  Conceivably, they could trade back from pick 30 to get an additional 2nd round pick and go QB in the 2nd. If a prospect like Richardson falls, then he would be worth a 2nd.  I also think Haener and Herndon are viable mid-round picks.  I like Herndon more because of his size and arm.  Herndon's problem is his age.

From what I've seen of Richardson, he isn't worth a 7th.

Yes - trading a 26 year old McCoy for a 31 year old Takeo was a bold move.  Releasing Desean Jackson was even bolder.

Lol, got the Buffalo LBs mixed up. We traded for Kiko Alonzo. Takeo we had back in 2007.
