How much cap space we open up by keeping Ojomo over Street and Sermon over Scott?

Trading Scott leaves no deadcap. Cutting him saves $1.08M.

Cutting Street saves $780k but leaves behind $500k in dead money.

I’m on my phone and need to crash so I’m not doing this exercise (now), but if you want to get the net effect on the cap:

(Scott + Street) - (Davion Taylor + Ian Book + $500k dead)

It looks like 1 million of Boston's salary is guaranteed, so the savings is minimal moving from him.  $132k savings after $1 million dead. Because of this these moves would cause a net loss in cap to the tune of 2.5 million

Salary Net Lost
Scott $132,360
Street $780,000

Salary Gains
Davion Taylor 940,000
Ian Book $940,000
Dead cap $1,580,000

Net loss in cap ($2,547,640)

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Probably filmed sat before he was picked

but Nolan is obviously the brains

So we differ.  I read that for you, incarceration must punish, for me, the goal is deterrence and rehabilitation.  I see no value in a longer, "harsher” (your terminology) sentence.  We’lol just have to disagree on this one.

If Ruggs’ victim was your wife, sister, daughter, etc. I bet you’d have a much different outlook. 3 years is an absolute joke for the series of choices he made. People get more time for tax evasion or victimless crimes.

The chemistry is going to be off the chain.

Nolan is so f'in likeable.

Two things, you're all Eagles now. Yea, it's fun to all be teammates and Howie is picking the entire UGA defense but the last thing you want is some UGA "click" on the team. It's great they are all here but their teammates are also Slay, BG, Cox and the rest...I hope these new guys understand the values of veteran leadership, not just school alliance.

Second, and this is probably Nolan Smith being modest and maybe even a bit shy, but I hope he does call Reddick and asks him questions.  I understand the point he's trying to make by sitting in the shadows and learning by watching, but if Reddick is a good teammate and a leader, he would have no issue if Smith calls him and picks his brain as much as he can to be the best he can be. As a matter of fact, I'd love for Reddick to reach out and say Nolan, this is what you need to do.

Jalen Carter is growing on me.  I didn't want him but like I said after the draft, I'm going to be open minded and hope he can prove me wrong.  Excited to see what all of these young defenders can do together.

For as many questions Jalen Carter has character-wise, Nolan Smith has A++++ character. Got 3 guys like that in this draft: Smith, Brown, Ojomo. That's how you balance out the potential risks in Ringo and Carter.

This interview happened before the 3rd Day of the draft.

BTW... bad job by James Palmer framing Nolan Smith's reaction to his question about calling Haasan Reddick.  Smith didn't say he wouldn't "talk" to him, he said it would be "disrespectful" for him to call him up, and that he's going to do everything the "right way".  Which means, he'll let Reddick reach out first by phone... or he'll just talk to him when they are together, not that he's going to initiate.

Completely agreed. I’ve watched everything I can on these guys interview-wise the past week or so, and I’ve come away extremely impressed with Smith the most. I said yesterday I feel like he’s the future vocal leader of the defense, and he’s gonna be the funny loudmouth like BG. I think even though Carter will wind up the "best” player of this class, that Smith and Brown will be the two big fan favorites.

like can you imagine if howie somehow adds budda and simmons on this roster like my god, if everyone is healthy, they are making it to the super bowl. i still think howie can restructure some players on here to fit their salary.

that's one the reasons why howie is so good at adding star players because he restructures other players deals on here to fit them.

Over the last 10 years, a Division Champ has had to play the SB Champ on the road quite a lot:

2013: Ravens

2014: Packers

2015: Steelers

2016: Panthers

2017: Chiefs

2020: Texans

2022: Bills

All were division champs the previous year

Eagles were also conference champs.  How many conference champs had to play on the road. In my mind, either division champs or conference champs having to play on the road disrespects those teams and their season ticket holder fans.  Is it any wonder Goodell gets booed so much.  All division and conference winners should get to play that first game at home and raise that banner for the fans.

Simmons seems like another project and I can’t see us making two trades for "name” players. Baker would be enough.

Was also done before he was drafted.

Our minor league affiliate UGA has a WR named Arian Smith, entering RS junior year.  This is the guy that juked the OSU DB onto the turf en route to a 76 yd TD in the CFP.  He's probably the fastest player in college football.  6', long arms, slender, but not a rail.  He's not going to be a super high pick, but teams will notice when he coasts to a 4.2something at the combine.  That could be next year's Quez replacement if UGA can coach him up a bit.  I'm not going to pretend to have watched his low-lights.  I know nagging, minor injuries have held him back, but I assume he needs work with all of the nuances of the position.

I don't really see why it matters.  Didn't the SB champ Bucs visit the Eagles week 1 for an NFCCG rematch?

I'm one of the ones who said Reed Blankenship shouldn't be handed the job but I'm fine with the safety room as it is today, especially if it's an open competition.  I really think Evans could be a steal if he's healthy.  The guy was all over the field at A&M.

My ideal safety duo would be Evans and Brown with Blankenship playing the 3rd safety role and keeping Chachere as the 4th safety.  Chachere is a tremendous ST player and has the right attitude for that role.  I don't think Edmunds would be happy as safety 3/4 and ST player.

Of course my situation 100% relies on Evans being healthy.

Or just play at Washington. That’s a home game

Smith is built VERY similar to DeVonta Smith.  Now, that speed is something this team lacks but I'm not so sure I want to run out a team of WR where 2 of them are sticks.  I also hope the UGA draft pool is for BPA type of situations and Howie doesn't become that predictable.

As of now, the only UGA players on my radar are Brock Bowers and Javon Bullard.  Bullard would be an incredible pick up and slot CB next year.

No, it really wouldn’t change my outlook.  I would be forgiving in that instance.  If you knew my daughter, she would be too.  Tax evasion is not a victimless crime, it’s a crime against all of The People.  I don’t favor jail time at all for "victimless” crime. Legislating one’s own morality (calling them religious beliefs is hiding behind religion in my view) is wrong from my libertarian viewpoint.  But that’s not the point here.  The point is that we have a young man that made a grievous error (while impaired), but what value is it to further ruin his life too.  If you think three years in prison is a joke, really think about how that would impact you.  My guess is that three years rehabilitates him whereas more probably has a better chance of corrupting him than rehabilitating him.

Safety should be an open competition across the board.  Everyone is going to want Brown to grab a job, so any close calls may go to his benefit...but he still needs to earn it.  And the other spot should be a purely open camp competition.

Watkins is pretty much a stick as well.  Granted, one could argue that Watkins has not been an effective pairing in this offense.

I don't really worry about a pair of small receivers, especially when Brown is around.

I suspect Nolan would be receptive to Reddick reaching out to him.  Hopefully the vet leaders will reach out during offseason program.  Hoping Howie gets them signed soon so they can participate fully.

The more I watch Carter, the more reserved he seems to be.

So 3 years from now, Ruggs can be signed as a FA?  Or Raiders have his rights?  Are the controlled years of his rookie contract deferred to then?

Not saying anyone should sign him.  Just curious how it works.

Let's hope that's how they look at it.  Let the best two win.  What's nice about this group is I think it FINALLY gets Wallace off the roster.

I just don't think spending the resources to get a guy like Baker is going to be worth it.  Keep the cap space and draft picks and let these players develop.

Yea, he really does.  Maybe the guy just really doesn't know how good he can be yet?  If he can get locked in and figure it all out, his potential is through the roof.
