Like this first drill.  While respecting what Nick said about not being in football shape, note the stutter step on the turn from Allen. That loses some separation but is tight so I think he can train to turn better.  Contrast that with the turn step from Rambo. Nothing wasted.  Ngata is just slow on the turn.  No separation on that move at all.

One and a half step turn from Proehl.  Full two step turn by Haselwood.

Way too early and limited to judge at this point.  But of those turns, the hardest to mirror as a DB was Rambo.  BTW, liked the hand snatch by Allen.  Wonder if Rambo gets a contract.

I liked Rambo coming out, he has return experience, and he has a rapport with Jalen. The bottom of the WR chart competition is gonna be fun to watch.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Marcus Brady is listed as a Senior Offensive Assistant.  The Eagles have no one listed as an Assistant QB Coach behind Tanney.  I wonder if Brady, who was Reich’s Assistant QB and later QB coach when Nick was in Indy, has some role with Tanney in the QB training and room.  Wonder how his style meshes with Johnson’s, who guided Tanney’s development.  All three played QB in college.

Got to earn a contract and he did look slow at Miami.  I remember watching his quick stop getting separation at OU.  Philly might be an ideal place for him with a coach who tailors to players’ strengths rather than asking players to tailor to his design.  Like to see him added. (They are short at WR/TE versus the number of DBs on the 90 man roster so there is room for another WR.

Rambo is good. I'm pulling for him.

Ringo looks much better than I thought he would from a hip standpoint.

Ringo is going to be a stud he is very young

Just for fun, reflecting on those back to back selections on day 2. I coveted LB Drew Sanders and he went immediately after our 2nd selection. In hindsight, I would have definitely taken Sanders, then probably Jalin Hyatt. It would have also burned the Giants a bit since that is who they ended up taking a few picks later. He's going to be a steal for them. I did like Steen, thought it was a little early there but they didn't have another pick for a while thereafter, so they didn't want to risk losing Stout's guy. I think he has a very good chance to start at RG come opening day. Brown overall was ok, I think the man that he is embodies what the Eagles want in their players so I understand it. I'm not worried about him not doing everything possible to maximize his potential and will be a leader in the locker room both vocally and by example. Will also be a great person off the field as well representing the team in a very positive light.

I haven’t felt this good about a drafted safety since Dawk. Brown is going to quickly establish himself as a starter and a fan favorite. Just a gut feeling.

The kid isn't even legal drinking age. That's crazy to think about. He has a lot of maturing to do still but he has been the starter on the back to back national champions.  The upside is sky high. I think they just let him strictly learn at outside corner not rushing anything but I mentioned him as a potential safety prior to the draft. He tackles very well and has good size and the exceptional speed. He also seems to read and react well already especially with the ball in front of him. I would love to see him on the field in some packages pretty early on taking advantage of what he already does well.

This is my favorite draft as well. I was a big fan of McNabb and thought that was a good one but Barry Gardner dropped it down a bit for me. I loved the Bunkley draft which was my favorite. They ended up getting Winston Justice in round 2 and that was a guy thought to go much higher and someone we supposedly contemplated round 1. Big Max Jean in round 4, Gocong, Avant, Gaither, the skier was dumb but it was fun to think about him as a returner, that day at least. But this one surpasses that one for me. I do wish they at least got Sanders somehow and didn't take that QB in round 6 but I'm just nitpicking.

They do need to get a LB now. I have three FA's on my target list (Deion Jones, Kwon Alexander, Rashaan Evans) or possibly one via trade such as Queen. Not sure who else is available the trade route.

I like Zach Evans quite a bit as a pure runner. According to Marcus Mosher (he has some sources with Dallas and LV) and he said the Cowboys had him in on a top 30 visit that lasted rough 25 minutes and he was promptly taken off the board. Too immature.

Yikes.

In the spirit of the day with Charles and Camilla getting their crowns...

Think there's a very real chance Steen starts at RG over Jurgens

Slim and none. Jergens is full sized, has great mobility, and a year in a pro weight room and matriculated at Stoutland U.

Steen will be redshirted, get stronger, and work at LT and LG and develop guard technique.

If Jurgens is slated to be the starting RG in 2023, does Steen take over those RG duties in 2024?

Or do they go back to the well for an OL in the draft.

And they go back to the well.  For 2024 Jurgens plays C, Steen plays RG, and the Eagles still need to replenish their depth OL

I remember some time after the draft last year, Sirianni was asked about Jurgens and Dickerson in reference to their versatility to play either guard or center. I forget his exact phrasing, but he basically said they considered Dickerson to be a guard who could also play center while it was the opposite for Jurgens. They viewed him as a center who could also play guard. I think that means something. I’m okay with penciling in Jurgens at right guard for now, but I don’t view him as a sure thing. I honestly think they would prefer to keep him at center.

Jurgens long term is our center, no doubt. I am sure he may even get snaps this year at center to spell Kelce at end of games or if he's nicked up. It's a long season and he's a year older. Load management would be wise here. Jurgens can be all pro center from year 1 as starter, not so much as a guard. Do think getting him on the field next to Kelce will serve him well for the future. So they probably are hoping that he takes over right guard. He's too good of a player to keep on the bench 2 years in a row. Will best use his athleticism in their scheme this year (more screen passes PLEASE!!!)  and figure it all out later.

Pretty sure we will take at least 2 OL next draft regardless.

This year was a weak OL class.  Only took 1. Strong DL classs,  took 3.

I think next year is the year to load up on OL. Just like DL they're ageing. We have replaced the interior OL but we have to worry about replacing Lane, and the fact that our top backup OT left in free agency.

That’s my read. Jurgens has a leg up on the RG job but will be the center in 2024. Steen is the starting RG in 2023 or 2024 and we keep churning.

He already lined up at RG in rookie camp. I don’t think we should completely dismiss him being the RG this season.

I found it interesting who the Eagles invited to Rookie Camp. I suspect part of this aligns with what they did to get in shape over the last four months.  Second go around with the Eagles for Good Jones.  Actually looks like good clay.  Arms are Steen short.  Experience in college as a C and as a T.  Listed as a G, which may be the best NFL position for him but would also like to see some C snaps.  If Jurgens starts at G, the back up is Tom (yikes) right now.  They also had Jarrid Williams participate.  Know him from UH.  He is slow laterally, lunges more than I like but get his hands on the DL, and he sticks.  I am so curious what Stout can do with him.  Decent enough wingspan. UDFA last year on and off in August.  PS, but then released   List as a T.  Another second try guy. The last is Tyrese Robinson.  He is a slug.  Basically a G only although T experience in college.  UDFA by WTF.  On and off the PS for Eagles last year. (Note, he did block for Hurts at OU.).  Reid and Steen are way better athletes than these guys.

It all depends on Kelce. Jurgens moves to center when Kelce retires. Steen is here to compete for the starting RG spot and act as versatile G/T depth off the bench.

I expect the eagles to look for a Lane Johnson replacement early in the 2024 draft (we have the Saints 2nd rounder to trade up) and then maybe add a depth prospect late who can be developed as G/T depth.

I would think another tackle who could play guard if needed would be ideal.  Someone who could potentially replace Lane.
