This may be wrong because every time I cite OTC someone tells me spotrac is better and every time I cite spotrac they say OTC is better, but OTC shows the team can save a big chunk of cap if Slay is traded post June 1st.

I would be fine with them moving on from Slay and drafting one of the remaining top CBs at 10, I really like Witherspoon’s aggressiveness. Now I’m more on board with bringing back CJG than any of the other pending FAs on this team and idk if that would allow for them to get Ramsey. If they still are, I would like a short deal with him since he’s only 28. If there isn’t the flexibility to sign Ramsey and they traded Slay, would Howie roll the dice on Witherspoon/Porter and one of the many DBs he’s collected over the years?

Going from one big FA CB to another is one of Howies specialties, so if there’s room to do it, I feel he could make it work to move from Slay to Ramsey.

I can't tell which is correct either but I read it the same way.  If that's the case, you have to move on from Slay.  Would the Rams maybe the Eagles 3rd and Slay for Ramsey allowing each new team to restructure deals to fit their cap?  Would that defeat the purpose of trading Ramsey for them?

Slay is a leader on the team, I really can not see him being traded. I'm out on Ramsey due to price and the draft picks involved going out.

If you want to spend on a CB get Jamel Dean. No picks involved and is only 26. Cam Sutton would be the next CB on the list as a FA he's 27 and won't cost what Dean would.

Bradberry just really turned my stomach in that Super Bowl. He was holding quite a bit and I saw him beat at times as well. I know they never called holding but man, you have to be smarter than that, especially on that final play. If you are that good you should not be holding there, no point to chance it. Not like he's going up against Jefferson or Adams there.  He's getting up in age and will get paid. Thanks for an overall good year but you can go now.

Slay is a great teammate for sure but his play declined in the 2nd half of the season and he costs a ton of money.  If you can move him and not kill the cap, I think it's a no brainer.  Getting out from under his contract rather than extending/restructuring is the way to go.

Anyone get the feeling the Eagles taking this long to name a DC means they aren't in love with any of the candidates?

With Ramsey you would be getting younger and possibly cheaper over the long term. It may be a wash cap wise with Slays dead cap plus what you would be paying Ramsey, but then you have a player that’s younger and about the same talent wise. What’s Slay, 32/33 and Ramsey is 28? That’s 4/5 year difference, which is quite significant in the NFL.

What are thoughts on Andre Carter?  6-7 260 OLB.  He's lean but always looks to be around the ball with his reach and also has some range.

A friend of mine is a fan of Army and thinks he's going to be really good. Wants the Eagles to draft him.

Idk if Ramsey would cost much draft pick wise since he would be a cap casualty for the Rams. Seems like the Rams need to get rid of him more than another team needs him right now.

idk the specifics of his contract, but is there a deadline for a Ramsey trade where his salary is guaranteed?

Reminds of the HC searches that led to the hiring of Doug and Nick.  I think Leonard was their target but he passed on it so now they are trying to expand to find someone else who is under radar.

I had to drive to Philly for a talk this morning.  Every 50 feet there is a law firm billboard.  Personal injury, medical malpractice, workers comp…must be over 300 total.  Does anyone in this city still work or does everyone follow the Chris Maragos inspiration and try to sue their way into a living?

Sounds like Denver...

They usually announce all hirings at the same time. They officially announced their hirings in July last year, but there wasn’t as much movement as there is this year.

Maybe they do the same thing again. You know, for competitive advantage.

A hint of a Hurts contract extension coming soon?

Or maybe they’re all out of ideas and need some help?

Hargrave’s play declined in the last half of the 2021 season too.  How did that work out in 2022?

If that is the case simply wait until the Rams cut him.  Then sign him as a FA.

Comparing apples to oranges.

Big Sixers game tonight.  At home against Boston but beyond that the Sixers are 39-19 so if they win they qualify for the famous Phil Jackson formula of a championship contending team and if they lose they don't.  Phil always felt that I'd you can get to 40 wins before you get 20 losses then you are a team that will realistically contend for the championship.

The Leonard verbiage made me think the Eagles wouldn't commit.  It's a good job I don't think he turned it down.  That said we're at the point of the hiring where I have no idea what they are doing and every theory seems plausible from it was always Wilson to 3 choices fell through.  Honestly it typically works out for them regardless so there's that

I took it the other way and it sounded like they wanted him but he turned them down.  Will never know though.

Not disagreeing with any points about the financials, I just don't think Howie would do it this year is all.

They both say basically the same thing. Post June 1st saves a good chunk of 2023 cap but you’re adding over $10M to the 2024 cap.

Overall you’d be adding money to the cap by trading Slay and getting Ramsey. There’s not going to be net savings.

Good question.  What is your answer to that question?

Why even have a Draft?

Bruh….YOU said there’s no difference between the 7th round and UDFAs.

It’s always crazy to me how one players body can break down like that. Yet someone like Frank Gore can play as physically as he did for an extended period of time.

I think so, also think they would've taken Vance but both are gone so they are a bit in limbo right now.

Is Byron Jones coming out and saying don't take any injections the NFL wants you to take any different than Cole Beasley doing the same thing?  Byron Jones is getting cheered on for his stance, Beasley got ridiculed 24/7.

Yes it is very much different

How?  Just an honest question.
