That was a chip Kelly draft too

I always considered the first two 50/50 and then 2015 was "the” Chip draft when he stuffed Howie in a broom closet.

Toronto’s statement took the NFL-wide premise of the article and made it Eagles-specific.  Poyer can not be counted as a selected player that was a failure.  By being a good player for the Browns and Bills he played out his first contract and signed a second contract for more money.  That makes him an example of a successful NFL pick.  The graph provided by the article segregates successful players that sign with the same team from successful players that sign with a different team.  I suspect, but do not know, that TorontoEagle would also call any Eagles draft pick who signs a second contract with a different team, a "wasted” pick. His default perspective is Eagles-only, which makes reading an article like the one I linked difficult for him.  That is how he rolls.

Poyer was a wasted draft pick for the Eagles, he didn't contribute to the team in any meaningful way. Poyer is a hit in the NFL. Both can be true. I would say it makes him an example of a successful NFL player, a team is not looking to replicate that scenario with a draft pick. Would Poyer have found better success earlier in his career if he was a UDFA rather than a 7th round draft pick?

Ummmm...why is DeVonta in a walking boot?

Agreed. The subject of the discussion was at the NFL level, and Toronto said Poyer was a "wasted” pick.  Bottom-line, as he often does, Toronto didn’t read the discussion material and went off topic to grind his biased axe.

Also think he hurt it again in the Super Bowl. I remember a reporter touching on it after one of his catches in that game

there was a time or 2 I thought he might have gotten hurt in the post season, but he always got up and looked ok. i guess one if them actually was an injury and he played through.

I thought he hurt the foot/ankle in the Super Bowl. A reporter tweeted out that he left the locker room in a boot. Don’t remember anything about it after the NFCCG.

Look into the xfl. No, it’s not the same level as the NFL, but the different rules make it pretty interesting and I would love for a football minor league to take off. There’s a handful of recognizable ex-nfl players in the league. Usfl starts up in April too, so you basically can have football all off-season until training camp starts.

If these leagues can sustain for a few years, I think the product would get much better since the players would be in the same similar systems.

Yep, the XFL is putting on a decent product and I love the innovative rules they use.  The NFL could do themselves a favor adopting some of them such as the transparent reviews that seem to go very quick and I love the kickoff and how it brings it back as a play rather than a near automatic touchback.

I would love to see both leagues have success and merge to become an NFL development league.  For the life of me I don't know why the NFL doesn't look in to it.  It's also the perfect proving ground for minority coaches to show that they can be a HC.  Love seeing the ex-players as HC.  I was a huge Terrell Buckley fan when he was playing so it's neat to see him as a coach.  Anthony Becht is looking more and more like an Italian grandfather at this point but again, it's great to see them get the chance.

The NFL insists on silly rules, creating some reward system that just makes minorities pawns in the grand scheme of things when they could have a spring league giving them legit opportunities.

Pretty sure he first hurt it at the end of the first half against the 49ers. I could be misremembering though.

I think you’re right, but couldn’t say what he hurt exactly. I guess I mean that whatever it was, it wasn’t significant enough to be in a boot like after the SB.

So we know the Eagles don’t announce coaching staffs until everything is filled. Typically there are leaks, especially if it’s an outside hire.

It makes me wonder if Johnson and Wilson are the guys, but they are waiting to announce it.

I really like the xfls kickoff rules, not sure why NFL hasn't adopted it yet as the NFL kickoff is just a total waste.

If the NFL isn't going to change it's kickoff then they should just get rid of kickoff and the team that wins the coin toss gets the ball at the 25.

Flyers were robbed tonight.  Clear hold on that TD pass

Bezos owned Washington Post has been behind a lot of negative reporting on all the off the field behind the scenes reporting on Dan Snyders and that organization.  Also not out of question to think that Bezos and his political influence (money and Post) might have had a thing or two to do with Congress doing that completely wasteful investigation into the Redskins.

Guess that makes sense, as would seem to be a conflicting interest

I remember Smith with a significant limp off the field during the SB, only to return like everything’s normal. It was around when everything was going wrong, but haven’t watched it a second time yet so unsure exactly when.

I think it was the drive after the fumble TD.

I really liked the transparency with the reviews. You see exactly what they are looking at and they are walking you through the process of how they are seeing it. "Former" Eagles Cre'Von LeBlanc, De'Vante Bausby, Reid Sinnett, Shareef Miller, and Deontay Burnett are some of the names I've recognized in the XFL.

Also interesting to see a player like Vic Beasley in the XFL. Was an all-pro in 2016 and then never did much, now he's in the XFL.

I hope it sticks and then there is some merge with the XFL and USFL to help consolidate the talent.

Anyone think Zay Flowers may be a Sirianna wet dream? I can see him being explosive in the WR screen package Siri loves so much. And would think he can help our return game too.

The two leagues can become like an AFC/NFC. USFL champion plays XFL champion in the whatever bowl.

I’ve seen him comped to TY Hilton so it would make sense he’d love him. But to use a late 1 or 2 on him seems like a bad idea considering the state of the defense.
