I had to drive to Philly for a talk this morning.  Every 50 feet there is a law firm billboard.  Personal injury, medical malpractice, workers comp…must be over 300 total.  Does anyone in this city still work or does everyone follow the Chris Maragos inspiration and try to sue their way into a living?

I just spent the last week and a half driving through the south to Texas and through the middle and eastern part of Texas.  I don’t know how the billboard companies stayed in business before injury attorneys could advertise.  Violent group. They all want to fight. I know a thousands of claim professionals for insurers, independent claim groups and self insured corporations and none want to fight with attorneys.

The bragging in TX is something else.  One attorney talks about a large settlement on his billboards.  In finer print he states the client got 54% of the settlement.  (On a local radio ad in the country, the attorney states, if your attorney is getting more than you, fire him - a direct slam to the attorney with the billboard). In fine print he states this is a brain injury case.  Absent some punitive damage aspect (actually hard to get in Texas), I can tell you that the valuation suggests a younger client that is probably reduced to a child level.  Bad enough to significantly impair.  Probably a permanent eight year old that previously was making a good income with a wife and children.

I10 is unbelievable for the fight for the most billboards per firm. But Birmingham on I59/I20 the ratio of lawyer billboards to all others is close to 8 to 1.  It’s like kids in the schoolyard begging to be picked for a team.

Don’t get me wrong.  I like personal injury attorneys.  Some really care about their clients.  Without them, I am not sure there would be an extensive market for liability insurance, which fed my family, put my kids through college and paid me a good wage.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

A hint of a Hurts contract extension coming soon?

Or maybe they’re all out of ideas and need some help?

Hire offensive and defensive coordinators comes to mind.

Watched some Gonzalez and Witherspoon tonight…

Holy cow, you read about Witherspoon being physical, but I figured it meant "for a corner.” That dude plays like he’s the baddest man on the field. Our defense could use that. I’d be cool with him at 10. He either was exceptionally coached or ridiculously instinctive. Maybe both. While watching him, I thought instantly how he’d fit on a defense like SF.

Gonzalez looks like he has more upside because he’s a smoother athlete. He’ll hit a bit, but that’s not his game. He looked good in man and made some nice plays either peeling off his guy in man or reading the quarterback in zone. I’d be good with him at 10 too.

Sorry. You only get to pick ONE.

We have time to overanalyze and I'm thinking if they were going with an external hire that would have leaked out already. Once we get past tomorrow I can't imagine it's not Wilson

Rams releasing Bobby Wagner.

Not sure how much he'll demand on open market?

But he's still got gas in the tank...

G-d bless Dan Snyder

Guess that makes sense, as would seem to be a conflicting interest

I don't think he was denied based on conflicting interested but moreso denied as a giant FU.

There are a few physical CBs in the draft , Ringo and Banks are 2

I have Banks as my favorite CB

I doubt the NFL gives a flying F about who Snyder will accept as a buyer/owner. If the other 31 owners want Bezos, they have plenty of ammo to force Snyder to accept.

Yes! Please yes, F yes!

What's the word on Lukas Van Ness? You couldn't pay me to watch an Iowa game so I have very little knowledge about him.

PFF has his rated as the 3rd best DE. Has prototype size and good production.

He’s a monster ….. The Luk Ness Monster

Wrong. That’s two moves.

Anyone think Zay Flowers may be a Sirianna wet dream? I can see him being explosive in the WR screen package Siri loves so much. And would think he can help our return game too.

Flowers or Josh Downs, yes

Agreed but I still feel like he’s option B if not C. Feels like they would be settling which concerns me.

Detroit is the only team I see going corner in round 1 before us, so we should get one of the top two guys. There seems to be a growing consensus that they are Gonzalez and Witherspoon, but the combine could shake things up.

Witherspoon is pro-ready and will be a very good corner in the NFL. Gonzalez is the prototype with the higher upside.

The 40 is very likely to be the determinant factor as to who will be CB1.

He's an explosive player.  Any other year, he would be at the top of my list.  They need help on defense so bad however.

Is it better to draft BPA or is it better to draft for need?

I'd throw Kayshon Boutte into this mix too. He's another higher profile slot type player that has return ability.

Boutte has diva written all over him.  There's no way he'd be happy as a #3 WR getting less than 40 targets a year.  He was a major let down this past year too.

A lot of people are sleeping on Jaxon Smith-Njigba.  He had an injury so he only played parts of 3 games this year, something like 80 snaps but if he's the guy we saw in the Rose Bowl, look out.

It definitely feels that way. To be fair most Eagles coaching searches feel that way at the end and most have worked out anyway

I didn't realize he had diva tendencies... Jaxon is awesome as well, I would expect him to be gone by 30. I'm really starting to warm up on Gibbs. Adding Gibbs and say Flowers to this offense, wow. Two new unique elements to an already great group.

Agreed. He was amazing as a freshman, got hurt, had two surgeries on his foot (or ankle, I can’t remember) and his production and effort level tanked. It sure sounds like LSU told him to move on after he initially said he was returning to school.

I don’t see the Eagles having any interest in him.

What are the league's options here - dropping WAS seems nuclear, but what's the subtle approach?
