The best news of the day. Howie learning from 2017 to not be sentimental.

4 years is a long-term in the NFL. If we draft a WR in RD3, he can contribute. Also, Brown or Devonta could get hurt.

I think it will depend on who's available though. I think they're far more likely to draft a WR in round 1 than RB. I do think they will add some pieces on offense though. Could see a RG added if Seumalo leaves. They'll definitely draft a RB, and slot WR is definitely possible. I like Downs a lot from UNC. If Njigba is there from OSU at 30, I don't see how they could pass on him. He probably won't be there though.

If we take a WR in the first round we are not re-signing AJ Brown when his deal is done. It’s that simple.

Sounded to me like he's not bringing Sanders back

Which SBs were those?

The one we just lost, for starters

Howie is supposedly going to be on New Heights tomorrow.

Maybe it's just me, but when it comes to DC, I'm not looking for a "brilliant, genius" coach. Maybe I would be for offense. For defense, I just want a coach who puts his players in the best position possible. Do what they do best. It took Gannon at least a year to adapt to his players' strengths. I actually like simple on defense. I don't need exotic blitzes. I do like some though. Just challenge the offense. Try to take away their best player/plays and make them do what they're not as good at.

That’s what makes them a genius though. You have to be good at many schemes/concepts to pull that off. That’s why a lot of coaches only coach what they know.

I like Downs and Dell, but if they truly want a weapon in the slot, Kayshon Boutte from LSU or Jalin Hyatt are fantastic choices at 62.

Brown  Boutte/Hyatt   LT LG C RG RT Goedert     Smith

                                               Hurts

                                                  RB

Good luck, defense.

From what I’ve read, Boutte has injury and off field concerns.

Hyatt has a good chance to sneak into the first round, I don’t see any way he lasts until the 60’s.

Dell and Downs probably won’t either, but Hyatt I think there is basically zero chance. If we want him, we’d have to take him at 30 if he’s even there.

I scoffed at the notion, figuring it was more about players not taking lowball offers or saving money for Hurts. Whoever it was who brought this up months ago, good call.

It takes a lot of football knowledge for sure, but I think good offense is more innovative than good defense.

I think it was Zach Berman

Conversation I had with someone at work today...not entirely my rationale, not sure I totally agree, but interesting...

The defense is going to take a step back in the offseason.  Either through retaining guys that are aging, or losing them.  It's going to be a lot of turnover.  And the defense STILL was useless in the defining game of our season.

If that is inevitable...then why not upgrade the offense?  Teams generally win SB's with an unstoppable offense.  Draft an elite WR in round 1 to replace upgrade Watkins.  In the midrounds, find a prototypical 3rd down back that disappears behind the OL and is a hyper-agile weapon in the passing game.  Sign a veteran bigger back to pair with Gainwell and the rookie.

That's the #1 offense in the NFL.  And that's a SB competitor even with a lesser defense.

Skill players are important but KC had to revamp their entire O-line in order to win a Championship.  O-line is as important as adding skill player. I think OT is as important for the team next season.  Dillard will leave via FA.  Seumalo will leave via FA.  The Eagles need offensive line talent to avoid a drop off in play that will come from one of the starters missing time due to injury.   I think going OT at 10 should very much be considered especially if the OT has some G/OT flexibility.   I think Josh Downs would be a big upgrade in the slot over Watkins.  Downs has good speed and much better change of direction.

Anyone know what the 5 stands for on that hat Nick always wears?

I agree in terms of innovation on O, but for defense it takes exceptional teaching since your side is the one at a disadvantage and is basically reacting to what’s happening in a few seconds. It’s really hard to be a good defensive playcaller.

It’s a reminder that McNabb will always love him.

Nick when asked about who they interviewed externally for the OC job

"Nate uhhh I don't want to mispronounce his last name. The OC from Iowa State"

Ahh. There it is.

Uh oh.

Agreed. OL is absolutely in play at 10 and 30.

The more we talk about the roster and its needs, the more obvious a trade down from one or both of 10 and 30 become.

This draft is not top heavy with blue chip talent, but it’s deep with a lot of starting talent level players.

If we could trade down to around 15 and grab an extra 2nd while trading down from 30 to get an extra 3rd, it would do wonders for the talent level of this roster.

An all-time sham interview. Lol.

McNabb fan...?

With no knowledge whatsoever, I am completely fixated on drafting Devon Witherspoon at 10 and will be crushed if we don't.
