We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

It does sound like Dennard Wilson is gone. He's popular with the DBs. Wonder if that will cause a rift with the DBs.

I doubt it. Players supported Duce too. They move on unless you make a bad hire

Let's hope it's pure smokescreens

There are a TON of good RBs in this class. You can probably get a starting caliber RB as late as the 5th round.

RB is the least of my concerns. You can get them anywhere. We really need to get younger at CB and work on the D-line, assuming we resign CJGJ but Hargrave walks.

The fact that the CFL is at not-insane odds is hilarious.

With no knowledge whatsoever, I am completely fixated on drafting Devon Witherspoon at 10 and will be crushed if we don't.

If we draft him and he sucks will that make you feel better?

Wentz looks good in 2 garbage starts and the Panthers trade a 2nd round pick for him.

I mentioned KC yesterday for Wentz to go as a backup, but I think if Andy spoke with Doug he likely wouldn't recommend it.

Most of those other teams are a mess at the QB position; would Wentz go someplace knowing his role would be to backup a 1st round pick?

Bills would be interesting, but I think Keenum likely re-signs there.

Not a big fan of Wentz but after getting his brain destroyed by clowney he hasnt be handed a decent setup.

Divided is good news. A house divided cannot stand....

Really like how he talked about Hurts contract but that statement about concern is bothering me a bit.

They either are stupid to think that way or it‘s just a lie.

I dont know who the Giants backup is but Wentz and Daboll would be interesting

Has anyone here actually gotten the Shrimp Cocktail at St Elmos Steak House?

They still have Tyrod Taylor.

How is it that the teams don't care?  They are abiding to a stupid rule.  NFL teams are going to interview and hire the best coach that they feel will lead their team.  The rule is the sham.  The interviews are just the result of it.

It‘s a total sham.

But honestly still feels better than nothing.

The Colts and Redskins were both good enough to get into the playoffs but he blew both of those chances. Outside of getting on a team that already has a franchise QB, I don't know how much better he could get roster wise.

The solution would be better candidates.

Anyone who "knows my interview is a sham as soon as I walk into the room" isn't a worthwhile candidate.  The NFL is an extremely small talent pool where job vacancies open with regularity.  Go in and wow the interviewer -- you may not get the job this time, but they will remember the next time an opening comes up.  Also, word gets around.  If you show up for these interviews energetic and prepared, more interest will follow from other teams.

I could see where extending Epps, Hargrave, Bradberry or CJGJ could be a distraction.  Also the players may not have wanted to talk about an extension until after the season.

That’s what happens with forced interviews. When people know who they want to hire there will be sham interviews for all races, but especially Rooney rule candidates.

How so?  Iowa State went 4-8 and averages 20.2 points per game.  Clearly they had serious interest 🙂

To be fair, they ran off Nick’s buddy Tom Manning this year in order to promote Scheelhaase.

The endgame of the equity crowd will always be ethnic mandates, as that’s the only way you can achieve equal diversity, because any institution that hires the best person for the job will never have truly equal percentages of candidates. It’s always going to vary from job to job and be dependent upon a variety of factors such as merit, number of applicants, and data shows certain demographics prefer certain employment. For example, men are more likely to be in construction, things like that.

So the endgame for those who obsess over diversity is always forced mandates(which always lower the quality of candidates).

Diversity is fine, but it should never supersede merit. The problem with the NFL is merit is more subjective than other jobs. Guys with lengthy résumé’s have been terrible in the NFL getting head coaching jobs. So you basically have to put your trust that those making the hires will be picking the person they think is best and not discriminating. This opens the door for bad faith actors to push their agendas.

All he had to do with the Colts was not completely collapse like a dying star, but he somehow did.

With Washington it was like he was actively trying to live up to hos own stereotype

I'm not defending the NFL but your premise assumes that the world operates on an objectively sound merit basis. It does not and therefore there needs to be guardrails against nepotism, biases, corruption, etc. Again, not taking the position that anyplace does this correctly, just that the idea that we live in a meritocracy is ill-posed. Coaches often hire their friends. That is not merit-based, it is relational-based and as fans we experience this dysfunction in terms of bad coaching all the time. Organizations do it as well with their heroes. Bobby Clark was a great player, hero of the organization but a highly flawed GM. He got the position and held on to it because of relational entitlements, not performance based merit, IMO. So, there are bad faith actors on all sides of our highly flawed "meritocracy"

PS. no intention that this is interpreted as political. It is organizational dysfunction.

Teams care about winning, all this other stuff is corporate garbage.  I hate the entire notion of forcing candidates on teams.

If they want to be racist or sexist or whatever, and hire worse candidates because of their biases, then let them have inferior coaching staffs.
