We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Couch Stout liked Darnell Wrights kick back drill. Heard him say good and nicely done. He wasn't that complimentary to everyone either as he was a little critical. Also said nicely done to Tyler Steen. Steen is a Bama guy who could also fit at guard. Also very complimentary of Mauch.

DJ also thinks Robinson to the Eagles at ten would be a great fit and could help put them over the top.

Would you take a zack martin at 10?

i would

I think if you project a guy to be a virtual lock as an all-pro performer, you take them even if the position value is low.

The opportunity cost is the bigger question. Between him and Jones, is he that much more of a sure thing to make you pass on Jones? Jones has much higher upside, can also play RG likely at an all-pro level, and projects as a true OT in the future.

I just don’t see it with Robinson. How does he put us over the top?

Our run game is elite based off of OL play and our running ability at QB to create misdirection and freeze defenders. How much more are we going to get from Robinson than a replacement level player?

I don’t think much. I’d much rather go for a big play guy like Grubbs or Achane later in the draft than take Robinson even at #30.

He can make a bad team competitive…probably. But thats about it

Agree. His athleticism is great and will provide a spark to a bad team.   For all the Cam Newton criticism as a pro, his completion percentage was higher at the college level.  I don't hate the kid, but there comes a point where you are what you are.

They talked to Mike Adams who was with Bears under Desai. He or Dk promotion seem likely.  Bigger issue is personnel

For DB coach, yes. But they are talking about Patricia to replace Rallis and he’s the only name linked to LB coach so far.

I don't think I'll get excited again until Game 1 of the '23 season.  And even then, I'm going in with the thought that the Eagles will be a competitive team, probably a playoff team yet realistically, this is a year to clear out dead cap space and '24 is going to be when we go after the Super Bowl again.  Too many new faces this year on the coaching staff and players.

No but I mean I usually look forward to the off season with the draft and FA. But this year I'm just not ready for it. Maybe it's still the disappointment of how the season ended but I've not felt this fatigued with football before.

Could not argue with Jones

He thinks Robinson is one of the 5 best players in the entire draft and is elite in the passing game as well.

Man I love Jamaal Williams.   Would love him on a 2-year deal.

It’s a fluid situation

The ultimate factual conversation with Richardson is this. How many QBs have prospered in the NFL after leaving the College game with a completion rate of 54% or lower?

By all means, athleticism will make him a dual threat, but even so.

Josh Allen comes immediately to mind. He was a career 56% playing against a very weak schedule.

Or they just regurgitate whatever rumors popped up today. Like Patricia as a potential LB coach.

But Richardson is the opposite of getting to the point of "you are what you are.” He’s a red shirt sophomore who only has 215 career passing attempts. That’s less than most CFB QBs have in a single season.

If Richardson was a 24 year old RS senior with 1000+ attempts in college I’d agree that he probably is what he is.

It’s not just the terrible completion percentage; the guy hardly has any college starts under his belt.  13 starts but you can pretty much throw his 2021 experience out because he ran the ball as much as he threw it.

Wait until pick #94 and see if Hendon Hooker is on the board.  That guy has actual QB talent even if he is closing in on a social security check.

So 2 questions come to mind.

Why didn't Richardson play more?  And why in those games, didn't he throw more?  And I suppose another questions arises.  Why is he 1st round talent?

No, just OJ

Robinson would be a great fit for the Eagles, but I can't see Howie taking him at #10. #30 he'd run to the podium.

They're looking at Robinson's backup, Johnson, converted QB who's big for a RB, but powerful and good in the passing game, think Keith Byars type. Type who could stone blitzing LBs, catch out of the backup and pick up tough yards, though he's a little tall for the NFL.

I'm gonna take a guess we draft Mauch. Kid presents well, in his interview said Stout was the best, seems like he's got the personality to fit with the rest of the guys on that line.

Jones and Johnson both have a good shot at going top 10, I think Skoronksi can drop, even to 30.

That puts the floor very low

To answer the last question first, because it’s easy: potential. He’s right there with Mike Vick as being the greatest athlete in the history of the sport at the position. Zero physical weaknesses. He has a cannon for an arm, elite speed, elite explosiveness, elite size. And so on. If he develops properly he’s unplayable.

As for why he didn’t play more, he red shirted his first year. Second season Emory Jones was the starter. 2022 Richardson was named the starter. Florida wasn’t very good, so he basically had to play hero ball a lot. And they had a terrible backup QB situation, so they ran the ball a lot.

Look, it’s obviously a gamble. It’s like buying the 15 year old Brazilian sensation. You do it because the upside is so incredible that teams will take the chance at greatness.

Just now, ToastJenkins said:

I’d argue his floor is actually very high due to his athleticism. At the very least you’re getting an erratic passer who nonetheless can give you the things the eagles do in the run game with Hurts and then use play action and his arm strength to bomb it out.

My view if I were a team that needed a QB is don’t trade up for him, because you don’t want to cripple the teams future, but if he drops to you and your background checks show a hard working guy, absolutely pull the trigger.

It’s kind of fashionable to try to sound smart by saying don’t get infatuated by athleticism at QB, but the fact is that pocket passers go bust just as often. Nothing is guaranteed. And the direction of the NFL clearly points to end of the age of statuesque pocket passers. Your teams offense is just so much more dynamic with an exceptional athlete behind center. Richardson is arguably the greatest athlete of them all. So, yeah, I’d roll those dice.
