Awful lol. But they had those 2 last year and won a playoff game. They aren't going to be serious contenders but with $25ish million in cap space after those two deals and not even making moves to free up more, they could build on 2022 if they add decent players.

I think they can be serious contenders if they make the right moves this off-season.  They have the coaching to be.

The Eagles draft best when they don't get cute. Fletcher Cox in 2012. Devonta Smith a couple years ago. I'm sure they didn't want to take another WR, but he was the best player on their board and they needed one badly due to various misses. So they moved up, grabbed the obvious player guys had been mocking to them for weeks.

CB is a huge need. Not just because Bradberry is probably gone. Slay is 32 and not just because Slay might be gone in a year or two. Who knows if Slay even plays at an all pro level in 2023? If you go into the season with Slay and not having done a ton at CB and Slay falls off, you're in serious trouble. Slay had a drop off in the 2nd half of 2022, it's definitely a concern at the very least.

This is a loaded CB draft, the Eagles will likely have their pick of the best or 2nd best CB in this class. It's such an obvious move to make unless Jalen Carter falls. I know they value OL highly, and Paris Johnson and Broderick Jones are nice prospects. But if they go OL there, it will be one of their too cute picks.

Reddick is an interesting case.  How will Desai use him?  The same as Gannon?  Out of that list, he's the oldest and the only player not home grown.  Even before 2024 they will have to make a decision with him seeing as he's due $21 million.  Can't see them paying him that.  Maybe a guy like Nolan Smith makes more sense but again, it all depends on how that position is used in the new scheme.

What? He's already underpaid as it is and are lucky he isn't holding out for a new deal. They will extend or restructure so he's not a $21M cap hit. Keep in mind he was only $3M in 2022 and $7M in 2023. It's more structure than anything but he is absolutely worth it.

Exactly right.  Less talent doesn't necessarily have to be crippling if the scheme is better.

So far the QBs next season are:

Dak (2x) -- top 12 QB

Howell(?) (2x) -- bad

Daniel Jones (2x) -- middling at best

Josh Allen -- top 5 QB

Tua/TBA -- not great

Mac Jones -- bottom half QB

Jets (???) -- who knows

Jimmy G (?? Raiders) -- who knows

Stafford -- maybe retired; not great either way

Purdy/Lance -- not great

Geno -- middling

Kyler/TBA -- not great

Mahomes -- the best

Cousins -- top 12-15 QB

Tampa Bay (???) -- who knows

Not really the Murderer's Row of QBs next season that some folks think.  Maybe add Rodgers in there if the Jets acquire him?

How do you have Tua listed as "not great"? If he's able to not have any more concussions then that offense should still be pretty good

Wasn't suggesting they move him.

I've mentioned this a few times that past week or two... I have a feeling he is going to be the pick.  He can play RG and gives us a high end swing tackle should either Mailata or Lane go down.  Maybe I'm wrong and this is an attempt by Eagles to get others to move up.  Cat and mouse.. Just a strange gut feeling though

I was thinking the same, wouldn't be my favorite pick in the draft but I could see the eagles drafting him.

They value lineman and versatility and he could play all over so...

Robert Quinn played his best football under Dessai. I bet he comes back on a 1 year deal. Yuck.

Keep in mind Barnett is coming back. So with Graham rumored to return he’d be signing to be… the 4th or 5th DE on the depth chart? Can’t see that

I’d take it

I think they could very well go DL, but I actually don't think they're going to go OL there. I'd be relatively surprised based on how many defensive players are going to leave. I think they're going to address that side of the ball heavily in the draft. Maybe add a RB or an interior OL at some point. But mostly all defense.

Defenses were already adjusting to the Dolphins offense in the last 5-6 weeks of last season.  Their offense in the second half of the year wasn't what it was in the first.

Couple that with me being a heartless ass, and I don't believe Tua will last very long next year.  If he had 3 concussions (even if only two) it takes less to bring on another one.  His have been very close together and it took many weeks for him to clear concussion protocol at the end of the year after they'd been eliminated.

My medical advice, which is completely worthless, would be for him to sit out all of 2023 if he expects to have a prolonged career.

I have a pretty bold take that don’t think people are gonna like but if they’re sitting at 10 and they move back two or three slots to pick up some extra pick, I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if paris Johnson jr is a guy they draft. I would not be shocked if they drafted him thinking he is the eventual long-term replacement for lane and he could play right guard til lane retires. I know lane said he wanted to retire in two or three more years but I wouldn’t be so shocked that kelce and lane retire at the same time assuming kelce comes back this year.

Why Will McDonald?  Seems high and dude is almost 24

If Jalen Carter falls, I think it's better chance Howie trades up for him than trading down. Howie loves DTs and his instinct is to be aggressive. He won't be able to resist.

It was him or BJ Ojulari.

If Jalen Carter falls to 10, I'll do backflips.

Not a bold take I don’t think. Probably one of Howie’s dream scenarios.

Carter would be a tough pill for me to swallow, and Id hope he would say the right things and be contrite about his situation.

I found a way to root for Vick, so Im sure if I saw him demolishing OLman then Id be won over.

I don't want to move up for him.  Its almost a guarantee that a great player falls to us at 10, just keep it simple.

Just remember, when you start to get depressed, 2 of our division rivals put the franchise tag on RBs. The first one is recovering from a serious injury, and the other has had a troubling injury history and slowed down massively by year end.

Oh, and the other team is owned by Dan Snyder.

I'm not depressed about the Eagles going forward, the NFC sucks.  And while I do not think the Eagles are going to be as good as last year, they are definitely a playoff team.  They can ride their offense and even make a playoff run.  Like others, I see them extending Hurts, letting free agents walk.  Getting 4 comp picks probably at worst 2 3rd rounders and 2 4th rounders having a total of 12 picks next year with more cap flexibility.

I AM DEPRESSED STILL OVER THE F'ING SUPER BOWL!!
