Agree.ย  I think a 4th in return would probably be the absolute best you could get for him.

Maybe Gannon will take him in Arizona ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

Not saying right or wrong but i totally see the eagles getting only a 6-7th rounder. And theyโ€™d rather just restructure his contract and have him for a year then that value of the trade.ย

Thatโ€™s basically what Berman and Bo wulf discussed on their podcast right before/during the combine about some things they were hearing. I wouldnโ€™t be shocked if they view it as just make an offense imthat goes to even a higher level and hope your defense week to week is good enough.ย

41 points a game worked well for us. ย That would set a new NFL record if achieved, but the vibe would be awesome โ€ฆ especially if BG threw in a few strip sacks during the season.

I mean 41 points works well for most any team. The issue is itโ€™s a lot of pressure on your offense to always score 40+ points and the eagles also avoided a major injury on offense all year. Not sure you can always count on that.ย

let me say Iโ€™m not completely against doing it. However, thereโ€™s a lot of pitfalls in it. Plus if youโ€™re gonna model yourself after the Chiefs being prolific on offfense and then going Young on defense the chief still spent draft picks and some high draft picks on defense. you still have to do it. They surrounded those young guys with four or five key veterans on defense.

They will get a younger cheaper option at CB in free agency or maybe a trade.ย  Then I'm sure CB will be taken in the first 2 rounds.

Also I'm kinda losing hope for McPhearson at this point.ย  I'd figure if he could play he would have been on the field at least somewhat by now.ย  Jobe is someone I think could be a sleeper and get lots more playing time this yearย

The good fortune the team had with Slayโ€™s and Bradberryโ€™s health makes the absence of McPhearson less ominous. ย Still an unknown, but not a guarantee of lost hope.

Teams that may sense to trade for Slay - Wants to win now, has cap space, has picks to trade, has CB needs

There are some wildcards like Washington, KC, Jacksonville. Doug coached Slay in 2020, and Baalke likes trading picks, so that would work.

ย

Browns? They have a bunch of mid round picks and need to win now to not make the Watson trade look like a disaster. Schwartz was the HC when they drafted Slay and was here in 2020 obviously. CB isn't a huge need for them but maybe they want to upgrade on Newsome?

I'm thinking a 4th maybe even a 5th this year then a conditional pick next year.ย

I think a lot of what weโ€™re seeing now is an over-correction by Howie based on how he handled the post 2018 Super Bowl team, and I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s necessarily a bad thing. He wants to be reliant on the draft and some mid-level FA signings to fill the gaps. The importance on offensive/defensive line will always be there, but outside of the deal theyโ€™re going to give Hurts theyโ€™re not going to splurge elsewhere.ย

If it is "not necessarily a bad thingโ€ then it is a correction rather than an over-correction.

Is there anyway for Slay to restructure with us and then get traded?ย  Guessing probably not

They need to invest in defense somewhat. I don't think anybody would be on board with being like the Lions were this past season, they had a top 5 offense and a bottom 5 defense. If the Eagles can maintain a top 5 offense and maybe a top 15 defense, they should have a pretty good chance.

You do understand why I chose 41 donโ€™t you.

Bears have Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon.

Browns don't have a ton of picks + their DB depth is actually good (Ward, Emerson, Newsome, Williams).

I do. We scored 41 and won a SB.

However we scored 35 points and lost a SB. thin margin for error when having to score 41 to win a SB and scoring 35 and losing a SB

Since we were talking about Philly beats yesterday, there is apparently a new guy at the Inquirer that covers Eagles but more focused on college and draft coverage, if anyone is interested.ย

Ok, so...

-Slay gets traded to dumbarse Gannon for a 3 and 4 this year and conditional 5th next year. Gotta love the Cardinals.

-We add Downs, Charbonnet, and Bobo (just cause I want the jersey) to the offense.

-On defense we get Gonzalez to fill 1 CB spot and sign Jamel Dean to the other. Hodges-Tomlinson becomes the slot CB allowing for Maddox to move to S and replace CGJ. Smith competes for the other S spot (and probably wins it).

-We get the most freakish athlete in the draft at 62, continuing our string of extremely hard to pronounce names on the 53. Roy joins the DT rotation with Davis, Milton, and Marlon.

-We get a steal in Voorhees due to his unfortunate combine injury. He's there in the wings to play RG in 2024 when Jurgens moves back to C.

-I love Diabate and think he's a steal in the 7th.

They definitely have enough picks to get it done.

Depth is the one thing that may not make it a fit though.ย

Thatโ€™s a TD and a failed conversion. ย I bet 50% of all NFL games change winners and losers if one teamโ€™s score changes by 6 points. ย Parity.

Iโ€™d bet more than 50% of teams scoring 35 points in a game win the game.ย

I suspect we would both be right.

Pick #83 please.

Seattle would make sense, but he's not really a traditional Seahawks CB.

My ideal trade with Seattle is Slay + 30 for #20.ย

I can't see see that. We traded for Slay in 2020 and gave up a 3rd and 5th. He's older and more expensive now. I can't see a third unless it's a 2024 conditional pick that is elevated. I'd expect a 4th or even a 5th this year then a conditional pick next year.ย

I like that. Not sure if Slay alone gets that done though.ย

With that cap hit at 32 years old? Maybe a 6th conditional 5th if we are lucky.ย

Yea I know, but I want to pressure his friend into making a bad decision.
