Probably won't be traded. Don't see how it'll work.

Trading Slay is dumb.

I suspect we would both be right.

We were. went through the entire league. Teams that scored 35 or more points were 52-5 this year. Which is a .912 win percentage.

I think it could be, really depends on all the ripple effects it has. If you're saving money and replacing him with Dean? I love that.

They surrounded those young guys with four or five key veterans on defense.

This.  It can be done with one big man in the middle, 1 edge superstar, one monster LB and 2 shutdown corners.  And hope they don't get injured.

I love the off season (free agency period and draft), so much fun. I'm surprised it's just for one year, thought the two years would've given the Eagles more flexibility money wise.

Awesome.  I was hoping for a 2 year deal though because I know he has said he wants to play 15 seasons here.

This is how you use culture effectively.

I’m not terribly upset about the CJGJ possible news. Howie should be building a team that will be peaking in 2024-2025 and not trying to keep the 2022 team together (I’m of the thought that 2023 is already a lost cause — this team isn’t winning a championship next year). In light of that, I’m OK with short term fixes at safety while we rebuild the rest of the defense.

Meanwhile, I hope the fanbase is prepping for what I suspect will be a difficult year. It’s just the nature of things.

As I stated above, 2023 is a wash. And I agree with what Howie is presumably thinking — our offense should (hopefully) peak in 2024-2024 and we should build the defense accordingly.

I wouldn’t have brought BG back but it sounds like the price was not prohibitive.

I think Hurts is a guy players will want to come play with. Granted, this isn't a thing in the NFL as much as it is the NBA, so I think the impact will be minor, but I think it can sway free agents in future when there's a 50/50 decision between the Eagles and another team with similar offers. ANd keeping our own.

Holy cow. That’s awesome.

The good fortune the team had with Slay’s and Bradberry’s health makes the absence of McPhearson less ominous.  Still an unknown, but not a guarantee of lost hope.

I understand that but I'd think if he could play he would be on the field at least somewhat even if the starters don't miss games.

Maybe it was a case of Gannon not wanting to use him and we will see more of him with a new DC.

Way to stay loyal BG

At some point there is going to be a team that punts at QB and has a new one every 3-4 years via draft, rinse and repeat and is successful. QB contracts are killing rosters.

Up to 6M? LET'S GO!

Odd since I kept reading from a few people in the blog during the first month of the season how Jalen is selfish and was going to turn a lot of the people in the lockerroom against him because he was scoring touchdowns himself and dancing.

Same, I love watching Howie do his thing and watching the domino's fall in the roster building process.

I wouldn’t call 2023 wash. I think they viewed it as your defense was going to regress whether or not gannon was here or not. However, with the pieces you have in place on offense, there’s a chance the offense can go to another level just based on continuity and maybe adding a piece or two. That could make up the difference in the regression of the defense.  in 2023 I think the plan is just to go young on defense to get guys significant snaps and see who can play. Then open up some better flexibility in cap space for 2024 and add pieces to where you need too based off how the defense plays in 2023. I also tend to think they believe if they play enough young players early and often by the end of the 2023 season, they will be in a better place than they are at the beginning of the season.

That could be teams that don't have a top QB. If you have a Carr or Daniel Jones type QB sure, maybe.  But Jalen is one of the best in the league, by far the best in the NFC and is only 24 years old.

When you have one of the best at the most important position then you pay them to keep them.

Can he recruit some defensive players for us? Lol

What a terrible approach to a year after we almost won a SB and still have a young QB and weapons. I do not understand this line of thinking. I doubt Howie is ready to mail it in this year. Very odd.

QB are also the most difficult position to find at least a good one that can win you games.

They really should make the QB salary separate from the rest of the roster.   It will never happen but it could make things less complicated for teams.

Well it definitely was.  But you've always been an apologist for the Jalen haters so no surprise to see this coming from you.
