That could be teams that don't have a top QB. If you have a Carr or Daniel Jones type QB sure, maybe.  But Jalen is one of the best in the league, by far the best in the NFC and is only 24 years old.

When you have one of the best at the most important position then you pay them to keep them.

I'm referring to teams drafting a few QBs over the course of 3-4 years and hitting on some solid ones, not having a stud like Jalen. That changes things.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Well it definitely was.  But you've always been an apologist for the Jalen haters so no surprise to see this coming from you.

It happened but a lot of us have already apologized and ate the crow

Yeah okay. I've been giving Jalen his flowers all year. You hold more grudges than a 16 year who got cheated on at prom.

What a terrible approach to a year after we almost won a SB and still have a young QB and weapons. I do not understand this line of thinking. I doubt Howie is ready to mail it in this year. Very odd.

I see why you’d feel that way but all you have to do is look at history of Super Bowl losers, the current state of the team and the level of fortune we experienced last year.

It’s hard to accept in March but I believe it’s true.

Honestly, I would rather take the hit now and get the picks in this draft if possible.  With those sweet, sweet comp picks next year, we will already have a lot of darts to throw.  Get them this year and we can focus on grabbing the players we want instead of trading down for more picks.

I like that.

Im not sure adding another 17M in dead cap has been in Howie's plans.

Getting picks this year helps if we then want to double dip early on CBs in this draft.

On the other hand, the extra cap room created may create the potential for us to extend Bradberry without adding any dead money/void years. In a way, that could cancel out the dead cap created through a slay trade.

This is how you use culture effectively.

Yes!  Retaining a leader and all time great Eagle is a good start to the offseason 🦅

That happens with teams with aging QBs ala Stafford, Brady, Ryan, Eli, etc. More often than not teams remain competitive when they have a young great QB like Mahomes, Burrow, etc now.

AWESOME news. C'mon Kelce...make the "I'm here in 2023" statement we all need.

He's not. It's a hot turd, not a hot take.

Who the F cares about all the other SB losers? Maybe you missed the part where the NFC sucks arse and will be getting worse with Rodgers going to NY. What team in this conference scares you? The Forty-Whiners? They have no QB. The Cowgirls? They just franchised a RB. The Vikings? They're our beeyotch.

Yes, the defense will probably regress a bit. But considering FA hasn't even started, I'm not throwing in the towel on the season. damn, it's people like you that perpetuate the Negadelphian stereotype.

Agreed. Eagles are likely contenders for a bit just because Hurts is the best in the NFC

Also pretty insane how stacked the AFC is

Brandon Graham is a great player and an even better person - rookies need to look at him as a model of how to do it the right way.

Since we were talking about Philly beats yesterday, there is apparently a new guy at the Inquirer that covers Eagles but more focused on college and draft coverage, if anyone is interested.

A blistering 4.65 in the 40-yard dash?

I thought I felt some shaking ... now I know it was E45 pounding the table for the Eagles to get this guy!

Graham has been a philly favorite for a while.

Getting this deal done and likely finishing his career in philly, his is for sure now one of those "legend" jerseys that will never go out of style. Along with the Dawk jersey, and Kelce jersey.

It might be underwhelming from a FA perspective but bringing Graham back for 1 year and UP TO $6M is great. He's the heart and soul of the defense, it's going to be close to minimal impact on the 2023 cap, and you aren't locked in for multiple years on a guy whose 35. If he still has the juice, he can get another 1 year deal next year.

F it double up on corners

Makes sense and exactly what I advocated before.  Trade Slay now to save $17M of comp this year and overall cap, then double dip at CB in the draft.

What's the point of highly paid CBs when we always get torched by top QBs anyway?  Save that money and use it elsewhere.

When has that ever worked, besides 2002?

not sure when else we have tried it?

But this would seem to be a good class to do it with.

Just checking in.  Is the Slay situation coming from Slay’s camp (did he request it)?

Reddick, Sweat and Graham means we no longer have to draft an EDGE in RDs 1 or 2. We can draft a developmental edge at any point in the draft, hoping they're EDGE #3 in 2024. Gives Howie more roster flexibility.

No, Howie offered it when slay wouldn’t take a pay cut

Jones and Douglas

Reportedly, no. But he wants a new contract. So Eagles are basically saying "go find it".

Don’t forget we have Barnett too. Not the greatest player, but can be a high snap guy if he’s 100% healthy

Wrong. We should've drafted Graham's replacement last year. We can't punt again this year. When he leaves, we need a DE with experience to pick up where he left off.

DIdn't he just sign that deal a few months ago?
