Please find one single comment of mine that denigrated Hurts or his performance.  Your imagination is running away with itself. The argument for trading him is purely one of dollars and cents … optimization of scarce fiscal resources.

I assume you have a personal budget, and occasionally find yourself facing a decision where a discretionary expenditure that you really want to make exceeds your liquid capital resources.  You have more than two choices you can make, but let’s keep it simple and only look at the two most obvious ones. (1) you can decide you can’t afford the item (let’s say a diamond ring, bracelet and necklace for your wife) or (2) you decide to find the money by cutting back on other core expenses (eating less, not buying clothes for your children, turning in your pet dog at the animal shelter, selling one of your two cars, etc.). That is the equivalent situation.

Hurts is the diamond ring, bracelet and necklace for your wife.

Every kiss begins with 'J'

Jalen Hurts

He just bought us at least 2-4 tickets to the dance. We gotta reimburse him with the Brinks truck.

God Speed.

It isn't.  Jalen Hurts is the your house.  You've wanted your dream home all your life and Jalen Hurts is it.  It's the best Fing house on the block.  What you are proposing is selling that house so you can get yourself an apartment and buy the newest iPhone.

You continue to play dumb like you don't want to trade Hurts yet continue to advocate for the absolutely ridiculous notion that trading Hurts is at all a good idea that only yourself big time Hurts hater ToastJenkins is in favor of.

The fact that you can't even stay consistent with your ridiculous idea and say that the Bengals should also trade Burrow instead of signing him just goes to show that you don't respect and appreciate what Hurts brings to the table.  To you the Bengals should sign Burrow but the Eagles should trade Hurts.  Both teams operate under the same salary cap.  Budget isn't different for either team.  They both have high end skill players.

Bryce Young or Richardson to Panthers?

Richardson

Yeah but Eagles went from 8 to 2, not 9 to 1.  Maybe it's not that bad of a deal for them especially since they got DJ Moore who I like.  I just wouldn't like dropping that far if I were a Bears fan unless multiple first round picks were being obtained.

I feel like the Eagles got better value in their trade with the Saints last year than the Bears just got with their trade down from #1 to the Panthers today.

If I'm the Bears I'm wanting to get out of the 1 spot unless I'm taking a QB.  The Bears got out.

Agreed I think the Bears have made a good move here. They still pick in the top 10 plus they have a lot of future picks and they just gave Fields a legit weapon.

This question is going to drive RTK crazy … does it make sense for Howie to offer the following trade to the Bears?

Bears get Hurts

============

Eagles get Fields, plus

pick #9 in the 2023 Draft, plus

pick #55 in the 2023 Draft, plus

pick #61 in the 2023 Draft, plus

2024 First Round pick, plus

2024 Second Round pick

If the Eagles were trading Hurts for another QB, I would think that would be Richardson.  Brian Johnson was his offensive coordinator and qb coach at Florida.  Was the QB on the last drive in Johnson's last game in college.  Trask and Emory Jones were ahead of him, but in the Cotton Bowl he played the last drive.  Started at their own 10,  it was run run run, 3 runs for 42 yards by Richardson, good runs by others, and 1-1 27 yards 1 td passing, passer rating over 600. And then Johnson was off to Philly.   So I can see why Johnson might want Richardson.  Having both would be great.   Probably the Eagles keep Hurts and don't get Richardson.  If you don't think about who is on the roster,  I'd really like the Eagles to get Richardson.  If you have a starting 6,  would you rather have Quez Watkins on the field, or Anthony Richardson?   brown, smith, goedert, hurts are all stars.  and 2 other guys, often watkins and a rb.  2 of the 3 rbs are likely to go.   It's not clear what Anthony Richardson would be doing on the field, but it just seems to me that the lineup is better if Anthony Richardson is there instead of Quez Watkins slot probably or maybe some RB.   He's 10 RAS as a WR.  And 244 at 4.43.  He can throw, better than Quez Watkins.   It just seems like a more potent offense if Anthony Richardson was added next to Jalen.  Unlikely to happen.

I’d be stunned if Stroud wasn’t the pick. McCown loves him (even doing a full video breakdown for the world to see), so I’m sure Frank does too.

The only curveball is whether Tepper makes the final call. He supposedly prefers Young.

If the Panthers gave up all that to draft Richardson, that entire front office deserves to be fired immediately.

Would package 250 & Quez for 114. We need a 4th rounder.

No one would trade for Quez, let’s be realistic here

If Fields is in the deal then no deal. Swap that out with another first rounder and you have something 😀

Agreed. I never understood where the "value” was coming from. I also don’t understand the Quez hate though, I think he’s fine for what he is. He just had a few negative plays that just so happened to be in big moments of a game so they were heavily magnified.

Somebody traded for Reagor - there’s a possibility, as he’s still cheap for strapped teams (NO) and other teams have lots of picks but no depth (HOU). Given that we are in the strapped category, I think Quez sticks.

Reagor was a first round pick that hadn’t shown much. Teams like to think they can unlock that potential that made a player a first round pick. Quez on the other hand, is a 6th round pick that has shown nothing. Quite different situations

My best guess regarding top 10

Car: Stroud
Hou: Young
Ari: Anderson
Indy: Richardson
Seattle: Wilson
Detroit: Gonzalez
LV: Levis
ATL: ???? Skoronski, Carter or Witherspoon
Chi: Johnson

Based on the board, we're likely getting one of Carter or Witherspoon. If not, it means Levis falls to us and there's a nice trade down possibility to a team needing a QB of the future.

Chicago was never going OT in the top 5, but at 9? The value is right for them and that's great for us.

I think I found where the "hate" comes from.  Thats kind of what he was paid for and told his role would be, and he failed in that role.

Here’s an interesting look at the value teams have gotten from drafting 2012-2021. It combines both hit rate and the actual value of each player. So a Fletcher Cox or a Lane Johnson will carry an entire draft class better than a team that hit on 3-4 mediocre players (as you would never trade a Lane Johnson for 4 Quez Watkins’s). Was made in 2022 summer though, so not much credit yet for Hurts, Dickerson, Sweat, DeVonta, Miles who all blew up in 2022:

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33297949/nfl-draft-which-teams-gotten-best-value-2012-rank-all-32

Might surprise a lot of people to see Philadelphia as the 6th best drafting team in the NFL over the last decade, but it does reflect how often NFL GM’s are recycled due to draft failures. Part that Hurts the most is 3 times since 2012 our worst player taken was in the first round.

Reagor was absolute garbage - and we all knew it.

With Thielen released, Reagor might luck into his incentives for our trade next draft cycle.

Have a feeling we’re playing the Chiefs to start the season as the first game

Who are the DB and all-22geeks?

I want to know how good CJGJ really was in coverage last year.

We do very well later in the draft and, IMO, pretty consistently get poor value and poor outcomes in round 1.

Not once he eats up the cap. He isnt a tier 1 player. He doesnt elevate the play of others. They elevate him

I think indy would take Levis there

Also with considering that teams perpetually drafting round 1 qbs will have suppressed draft outcomes.
