Not a chance he’s on the eagles board. He’ll be wearing a star on his helmet.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

I’ll state right upfront that the Eagles will give Hurts an extension at the current market rate of $47-49M.  I don’t think there’s much doubt about that.  They’re likely trying to get the contract done before Herbert gets his extension, because of the risk of Herbert setting a higher price.

The notion of roster building to keep the roster at its peak while circulating through QBs on rookie deals is logical.  Keeping a QB on a rookie deal indefinitely saves about $45M per year in the current market.  The most important question IMO is this:

How irreplaceable is Jalen Hurts?  If the Eagles roster was exactly the same in 2022, only the QB was substituted for another QB on a rookie deal, how many games does the team win?  Was the 14-3 record a product of what Jalen Hurts brings, or could the Eagles have gone 14-3 with Burrow, Herbert, Tua, or Jordan Love?  Keep in mind, the weapons are still the same — AJ Brown, Smith, Goedert, Sanders, the OL, etc.

An even better question might be if you were to bring in another QB in 2023 how steep is the drop off?

Small but we have a much tougher schedule. Will be interesting to see if Hurts can develop and beat good teams with his arm

Messing around with mock drafts there seems to be a decent amount of DL talent in the late first/early-mid 2nd round range. A trade back at 10 definitely seems ideal unless there’s a thoroughbred available.

Dodged a bullet there.

I listened to Pat Kirwan talking about his view toward free agency, saying he only looks at players 28 and under who played 80% of his team’s snaps.  Using that criteria he said the only positions with real choices this year are safety and linebacker.

But the corners go early. Need to snag one

Seems a tad constrictive but fits what we need

Maybe this sets a model around what a Slay trade could look like.

Interesting.  When I was looking at the LB list, it seemed like 90% of the LB available were 27 and above so that means they are all 27 and 28.  There are very few 25-26 year old LB in their prime out there to be had.

Panthers really ate the Colts’ lunch with that trade up to #1.

Colts are in a position where they have to draft a QB of the future after burning through Brissett, Rivers, Wentz, and Ryan in consecutive seasons.  Ballard’s job should now depend on fixing the QB position for the present and future.  I would assume the Panthers will draft Stroud, the Texans will take Bryce Young, and the Cardinals are sitting at #3.

If the Colts assume they can draft Will Levis at #4 they’re setting themselves up to get beaten to the punch again.  I would assume ARI is willing to deal the #3 overall pick for the right price.  LV is sitting there at #7 without a QB and SEA at #5 is still in a position to be in the QB market, according to Pete Carroll.  Either of those teams could trade up to #3 today.

Colts can have levis and be fine

I'm surprised by the report of teams wanting Ramsey. He seems past his prime

Not a lot, which probably speaks volumes.

I love the offseason.

I understand taking that shot if you're Miami. Your owner is 82.

Slay isn't going to get traded. Not enough cap relief to justify the very low return it'll get. They will end up restructuring at some point.

Not bad value. He's 28 so he should have a few years left at a high level. Miami is really gearing up. At a minimum their defense should be really good. Maybe among the best in the league.

I actually don't think it's going to be. It was pretty bad in 2022. They were awful at generating pressure. Acquiring older veterans for big money contracts seldomly yields results. They're a long ways away from me taking that team remotely seriously.

Eh. I’m not that worried about drafting a corner. From what I’m reading, none of the CBs are that incredibly special. Either way, it’ll need to be addressed in FA, especially if Slay is gone.

Yeah maybe I'm getting a little carried away. Fangio will probably be an upgrade over the last guy but they definitely have some issues.

If he’s still on the board.  Raiders will likely sign Jimmy G and draft a different position, but if they miss out on a FA QB then they’ll likely trade up ahead of the Colts.

I’m not sure even the Raiders or Colts are dumb enough to like the possibility of Richardson being the highest rated QB prospect on the board at their pick.

OK, so Ramsey was a name we knew was getting shopped around.  How many where did that come from trades do we think will happen?
