Hargrave is a perfect scheme fit in SF. But that's what happens when you're not paying the QB.

According to all the cap sites they had less cap space than us.

Edited to $84M. Give us that third round pick.

Confirms my suspicion that they do indeed like the D out in San Francisco

But they have a lot of large salaries they can restructure to easily create space. Williams, Armstead, Warner, Kittle, etc.

I loved signing Hargrave in 2020. He was fun to watch as an Eagle.

But giving 30 year old Hargrave 20M for *us* is just bad business. We're not running Schwartz's scheme anymore. Get ready for more DEs to play inside on passing downs. We couldn't do that the past 2 years.

losing demeco ryans is a bigger hit then signing hargrave

Sucks seeing Hargrave go to SF but I'd much rather have Kelce back than Hargrave so the day is a big plus overall in any case.

This was a huge lose. Massive. Hargrave was a major key to their pass rush and he just went to a top NFC team.

Yep. Good contract to not chase.

You see this is classic Tate scouting, Edwards graded out in coverage at pretty much at Fred Warner's level last year, he was massively underrated by Eagles fans who will ignore the statistics and talk about 'the eye test' which only serves to prove they don't know what they're looking at beyond aesthetically.

We've run some absolute dross out at inside linebacker the last 20 years and the couple of times we did get a decent one (Edwards, Hicks) we immediately let them go in free agency and sign bums like Eric Wilson, headless chickens like Alex Singleton or drafting projects that never pan out like Davion Taylor.

I am sure he did grade out well.  They played a lot of zone coverage. He knows where he needs to be and is good at diagnosing plays. He didn't play a whole lot of man coverage.  He's not going to cover CeeDee Lamb on a seam route in step for step coverage.  I think he probably benefits in grading because he's positionally sound but there are times when a more athletic MLB would get deeper faster in cover-2 and be able to break up more throws.  He's not great as a spy on running QBs.  He's not really able to stay with most TE's and RBs in man coverage.  He's good at being in the right place and making the play when he's in position.  He gets underrated but that doesn't mean he's not limited.  I have no problem with the Eagles moving on from him.

Yup. They have a TON of space for the taking. They could open up over $60M if they wanted to just from restructures. Could also lower Bosa cap hit by extending him.

The Eagles pass rush was always going to fall off. We had a historic year last year that was going to be nearly unrepeatable. Adjust your expectations

True but Steve Wilks is no slouch

They signed the two vets because he was injured AND because he wasn't playing that well before the injury.

The point being, a player drafted as highly as he was needs to become an impact player at some point.  Year 1, he was not.  We'll see how he does in Year 2.  But that's why he can only get an "I".  He didn't play a lot of snaps early in the year, even when he was healthy.  So, he has a long way to go to living up to his draft position.  PFF's grade is meaningless.  But, you are correct, his excuses will dry up quickly this season.  Time for him to play like the monster he was supposed to be.  He doesn't have to make a ton of plays himself and be all over the stat sheet, but his impact on the field should be a measurable one as his presence opens up options for other players to make more plays. Vince Wilfork was never a guy that made a big impact on the box score with his accumulated stats, but his presence paved the way for others.  And if Davis doesn't approach Wilfork-like impact, he will be a disappointment.

A couple of things about Davis are missing. He did seem to be creeping up in snaps when he got hurt.  Albeit, some of those were STs snaps.  When he went down, the suggestion initially was a high ankle sprain.  When he came back, there were six DTs.  Brought him along slowly.  I don’t think the lack of snaps or playing time reflect on any of the Eagles rookies or younger players.  I think the Eagles were bringing them along slowly.  Next year will be the test for him, Williams, Marlin T and quite possibly Noah Elliss.  Curious about Wilson’s status.  I think he is a FA.  I strongly suspect the starters are Davis and Williams.

That's awesome FOR US. He was rumored to CHI and may have kept them from going OL at #9.

Just realized Bears have pick 53, 61, and 64.  you taking 2 of them for pick 30?

Absolutely. This draft has a LOT of talent that can float between R1 and R2. I want more picks on day 2 than a 5th year option on someone at #30.

Niners man. Geezus. We're about to lose that grip as the best NFC team. F

Eagles D coordinator got upgraded and 9ers got downgraded. That very well can have a bigger impact than Hargrave swapping jerseys

It’s kind of funny. Every year for Xmas, I get the new Eagles calendar. And every year, it usually turns out that half the players used are no longer with the team. This month is TJ Edwards. February was Miles Sanders.

I can't believe the Browns or Bears didn't top that.

This is the last great year of the 49ers defense.

And we will see about that.  Some really good talent but a big part of that defense's success was the best DC in the league that is now the head coach in Houston.
