I guess the "positive" spin is that most of Penny's missed games are from a torn ACL (which he has come back from) and a leg fracture. It's not that he is constantly dealing with soft tissue injuries, missing games here and there. So, we're trying to play for the law of averages/reversion to the mean.

If you were an rb looking to prove yourself and hit a big contract next year, where better to play than here?

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

There's no way they'd do that with Rodgers being all but guaranteed. We can take Moore off their hands for cheap.

Yup.  Reasonable gamble with a huge upside for both.

I was a fan of Rashaad Penny when he was in the draft but that was 5 years ago.  A 27 year old running back who's had major and nagging injuries is not going to come in here and be the answer.  His signing shouldn't stop them from signing another RB and drafting one as well.

I'm guessing Buffalo or Carolina.

Nah.  Decimated means 10% are gone.  The defense is getting gutted, like a house remodel, rip it down to the studs, start over.   Nothing surprising in that, honestly.  We all knew this was coming.

So decimated means 1.1 starters are gone?

No one brought up that Penny was the thunder to Donnel Pumphrey's lightning in college.  Shame on all of you

If Davion Taylor ends up starting, I'm asking to be removed from any and all racist and sexist brackets.

I see him almost like DeSean Jackson.  Huge upside when he plays.  Just hope he doesn't have a season ending injury and just misses 2 or 3 games.

Howie is bargain hunting given the cap space we have.  I may be wrong, but "if healthy" is a deep hole to climb out of.

Also...Sirianni's light practice approach may unlock some more healthy play from Penny.

He's a (hopefully) cheaper vet signing than what Miles is gonna get with great vision and true home run potential. Yes, injuries are a risk but if he didn't have the injury history he wouldn't be (hopefully) cheap.

Yes, according to the definition of the word.  Which is why I said its not a decimation.  It's a gutting.  And, I don't know why anyone is surprised at all.

Penny signed for $5.75M on a one year deal last season.  He's not coming VERY cheap.

And his value should be lower than it was last year...

Except that’s at the end of DeSean’s career, Penny is 26.

Primary things I did and didn't want with FA, in no particular order:

- Don't sign Hargrave to a $20m annual deal.  Show some faith in our young draft picks at the position.

- Don't sign Sanders to a lucrative extension.  Find an appealing veteran for cheap in FA and find an elusive receiving back later in the draft.

- Find one young player in FA that is a long-term upgrade.

I don't think #3 is going to happen, but we are good to go on 1 and 2.

The CB market has  been quiet.  It's possible they sign a player like Byron Murphy or Rock Ya Sin.  I think they could potentially be longer term upgrades.

Rashad Penny will be the first RB to run for 2500 yards in a season.

Yes, in a historical context the "deci" in decimation stood for the killing of 1 in 10 in the Roman army to punish the whole. But nowadays it's more "large proportion" by definition. That's where I got kerflunked.

Yes, it has morphed into that and people use it where 'devastate' would be more accurate.

Do we make the Super Bowl otherwise? Almost all good players are overpaid. The reason Hargrave wasn’t re-signed is because Jalen is getting paid. Either way, I’m OK overpaying for a player who can generate a pass rush up the middle

But that's why we have to care what players are getting paid.

Wonder who.

He's 27, which, in RB years, is about 35.
