Middle rounds are 4&5.  You are past the top-100 players but before the talent pool totally flattens out in rounds 6 and 7.

I have always considered any pick from the 3rd round on as a crap shoot.

You need to hit in the 1st and 2nd rounds and then hope for the best after that.

No QB at all is unconventional.  There were decades where there were no QBs, or most teams had no QBs.

You're never paying a QB $50 million a year.  You're never tied to one player so tightly.

The major downside to replaceable QB is that the media is going to endlessly bash you for not having just one QB who is a "franchise QB" whatever that means. 

Most times teams want that franchise QB.  And all of the franchise QBs cost the same, even if Mahomes is the best.  All the QBs getting resigned are expected to pay a record amount. 

If you get a QB on a rookie deal he's cheap, and if you aren't pushing him into a "be a big star" spot over and over, so that he gets there, he's not going to cost you a lot of money if you bring him back, or maybe you just replace him, it really doesn't matter.   Not saying the Eagles should do this, but they already have Tyree Jackson who could be shifted back to QB,  Greg Ward, Britain Covey (high school so probably not),  could draft Dorian D-T, Malik Cunningham.  And look at QBs who are available.  Easton Stick, Cam Newton, Mariota, whoever is cheap at the particular moment.  Lynn Bowden.   D'eriq King is a good one.  There are a lot of running QBs coming out of college and have been for years and they sometimes get to play QB, sometimes they have to change positions and sometimes don't play in the NFL. 

Brock Purdy got wins in the playoffs. 

I agree the Eagles lost in the playoffs to basically a guy who hasn't proven over the long-term that he's an elite talent.  It's hard to say whether Mahomes was worth the deal he got and he's getting less than $50 million a year.

I think that's his weight coming out of college.  Keep in mind that Seumalo lost his starting job in 2017 because he was not playing well in pass protection.  After he was benched in 2017, he bulked up:

During the offseason, Seumalo, 24, set out to improve his body. Offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland said Seumalo entered the season stronger and more powerful. My hope is that the extra year for Jurgens has helped him build strength and he will go into next season ready for the role.  He could very well be like a Evan Mathis type OG.  Mathis was taller but didn't have the reach that Jurgens does.  They are very similar from an athletic standpoint:

I know you like Jeremiah Trotter but this isn't 1999 anymore.  We need LBs that can run.  I think Dean filled in for White and Ellis played MLB when they went second team.  Dean's strenght is supposed to be his play recognition.  My hope is that he could be like a Vilma type at MLB.

I like lots of them. But I don’t go insane whenever a player becomes an Eagle. Thinking Penny is better than Saquon is the absolute height of homerism. If you can’t see that, then you’re beyond help.
