He’s never drafted a CB in the first either yet everyone has been begging for Witherspoon or Gonzalez at 10, or thinking a RB is a possibility at 30 also. So with that logic, why not a safety too?

I said if the market wasn’t there or he decided to come back for less, he could be back. It still depends on that mostly. I think it’s clear the market isn’t there for what he expected so the option is still on the table. No idea if it happens though.

Good point. I guess I feel like they value the CB position much higher than safety. More plug and play

Howie doesn’t draft RB, CB, LB, S, and G (aside from the firefighter. Was that Howie or Chip?) in the 1st. I’d like to say it’s just a coincidence and not on purpose.

If this clears up cap room then they’re no worse off cap wise than cutting him. So I don’t see why CJ wouldn’t still be in play.

And you’re probably right. It seems like they feel comfortable enough with an UDFA in his 2nd year as their new starter at safety, so doubt they’re rushing to grab one in the first. The safety from A&M is a quality talent and best safety in the class, and his range seems to be in that 30 range, so it was just an observation.
