I think he's going to retire. He gets $12M to do nothing.

At this point Ian Book can lose games for us for cheaper

Never heard of him

but

Yes.

Freakbeast + positional versatility.

Blocking TE, Red Zone threat.

2021: His longest reception and reception yards per game were 44 yards against Davenport. He made one solo tackle against Davenport. Appeared in 10 games.

Before NMU: Transfer from Michigan Tech where he was a member of the men's basketball team. Two-time All-State First Team and two-time U.P. Dream Team. Holds four MHSAA State Records. U.P.'s all-time leader in rebounds. All-State in basketball three times. Three-time conference player of the year. UP Shot Put Champion and Conference Discus Record Holder.

Ras compare - Blake Freeland v Witt

Very similar.  9.88 Ras v 9.92 Ras.  Both 6'7+ both 302 pounds

https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=23020&p2=23813&pos=OT

At 282 he has very little chance. He would be a two-year project and add at least 25 pounds and also learn the position, which he has barely played. Maybe Day 3 or udfa if Stoutland likes him. Herremans came in raw but he was very strong and bigger.

We'll probably end up with Teddy 2 Gloves

Forgot about him. That would be fine.

Foles!

Foles is the logical choice if he wants to keep playing.  He has no market to be a starter and a minimal market even as backup.  I think he's still a very solid QB for a backup role.

Don't get cute.  CB should still be the pick at 10.

Bradberry is up there and Slay is ancient.  May still one

Only be here 1 more year.

Draft a youngn and proceed to complain that howies first round picks don't contribute right away.

Out of the top 6 CBs only Gonzalez is better than the rest.  You can throw a blanket over the other 5 with Ringo being a notch below the other 4.  So unless Gonzalez is on the Board you can’t get any one of the 5 blanket CBs in the 17 to 23 range.  That isn’t cute that is practical.

Why do you feel that everyone needs to be some kind of multi-positional player? If you were GM, your team would be nothing but 53 clones of Kordell Stewart, Taysom Hill, Refrigerator Perry, and Cordarelle Patterson.

Yes.  Mostly true.

Is anyone here actually a GM?

maybe, because I tend to think that sometimes a GM might read boards like this.  But generally not.

I do my thing.  And my thing is positional versatility and freakbeast athlete.

I think Anthony Richardson goes at 1.  Because freakbeast + QB.   Yes,  I was jumping up and down about Taysom Hill when the Packers cut him.  So, yes, if I was GM, I would have had Taysom Hill.  Those other players are all much older and I wasn't paying close attention then.  I wasn't typing on message boards when they were playing.  I didn't generally geek about them.

Terrelle Pryor is the primary player we're talking about.  Still has the longest QB run in NFL history.  Got screwed because he's a running QB,  switched to WR and became a 1000 yard receiver.  I'd have him on my roster right now.  He gets hurt.

But yeah,  when I want a BIG back,  I'd don't want BIG to = 215 pounds.  60 years ago the backs were bigger,  Jim Brown was 230.

But not all of my picks would be those players of my type.  Total freakbeast DE who was great in college.  I'd take him.  Myles Garrett.  I've been paying close attention to the Eagles since Jalen started getting starts,  but not much before then.  I don't go to teams without running QBs and tell them to get running QBs.    Been typing the players I like for about 10 years, and I know what my long term track record is, and it's good.  Freakbeast + positional versatility is what I like.  When you can't draft a 230 pound running back,  I'd say look at linebackers who are lacking in some linebacker trait,  like diagnosing plays, who are bigger and faster than running backs that you can draft.

Here's one, from Tennessee,  Jeremy Banks.  Ras compare Banks to Chubb.  There are a lot of LBs who are heavier than the big backs available this year, and run in the 4.4s or 4.5s.  Banks isn't the best of them.  But, he was a Running Back in College.

Higher RAS at running back than Chubb.   I'm looking for day 3 type players.

Most people are generally only talking about first round draft picks,  and they're getting their opinions from TV.  I study data.  There are people here (and all the other message boards) who pretend that they're experts at determining who is best from watching youtube.  I try not to do that.  I can compare objective data though.

https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=23088&p2=16770&pos=RB

Looking at mock draft database.  Overall rank 323.  projected UDFA.  I'd like the Eagles to get a bunch of 7ths and take players like this.
https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/players/2023/jeremy-banks

I'll take 232 pound, 6'1 RB who runs 4.53 40.  Linebackers get paid more than RBs so, in college, they aren't converting from LB to RB, they are converting from RB to LB,  so in the NFL, there aren't big backs the way you'd like.

 https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/jeremy-banks-2.html
They call him RB/LB on that page.  52 carries,  3 TDs as a Freshman, then, he became a LB.  I look for players like that.  I'm not saying this guy should be a first round draft pick.  I'm looking at mock draft database, and a 232 pound RB, 4.53, who played RB in college in the SEC at Tennessee, could be an option late day 3.  Sometimes I jump up and down for a player in the first round,  but finding versatile freakbeasts in the late rounds, especially when they do something rare,  like being like a FB 50 years ago when FBs did the big ball carrying,  that's what I look for.   One of these days I'll check out all the LBs who are 225+, with sub 4.60 40s, and see what the positional versatility is.  Maybe I'll find a running QB.   I liked Troy Andersen last year.  All conference in college at Linebacker, QB and RB.  Top Ras.  240+ and 4.4.

The player I like the most, not the best player, but the one I like, is Roschon Johnson, formerly great HS running QB, now solid RB, "big" by today's standards, where running backs get smaller every year, who can do all the things, who is a near physical match with Jalen Hurts.  He's now 4th round,  111.

Check out hand size… 8.2 vs 9.25.

That’s significant IMO, because the role I want them to play is Marshall Faulk… lining them up in the slot and running WR routes.

Achane isn't as good in the passing game as Gibbs. I don't even want Achane honestly, we already have two smaller lighter backs. Gibbs to me has elite potential in certain areas so he's the exception. Otherwise get me one of Israel, Bigsby, Charbonnet, Johnson, Evans, Miller, McBride, Johnson... A few of these guys should be there to choose from in round 3. Have your scouts dissect their game to figure out which ones fit best here and grab one.

It would be nice to be able to continue to run with the quarterback if Hurts goes down. Foles obviously is not that guy.

He is a Penn Charter School graduate… would be coming home.

I wonder if we can get Jeffery Simmons for say pick 30 and maybe a 2024 2nd. Trade back from 10 get some more ammo and throw them another pick this year too, F it.

Backup QB options include

Tom Brady

Carson Wentz

Matt Ryan

Marcus Mariota

Chase Daniel

The most likely option who I have mentioned previously- Nate Sudfeld.

I thought the list of expiring rookie contract CBs was pretty enticing for Howie to take a look at.

Innovative implies that some of your ideas are implementable. They’re not. They’re Bigfoot. The Loch Ness Monster. The G spot. Just myths.

Bring in Foles, unlike Wentz, Hurts won’t meltdown psychologically because if it.
