We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Did anyone land a Slay jersey from fanatics for super cheap when he announced his release?

Well damn. So he got the 3 years from Howie after all

Darius Slay's contract for 2023 was 17M. So he's basically only getting 6M more over a 2 year period. His AYP is 14M.

That is not a bad contract.

It's probably structured at reasonable base for first 2 years around what Bradberry got.  The third year probably doesn't have guaranteed money so I wouldn't read too much into that

Smith is eligible after this year, but they have his rights through 2025. Dickerson is through 2024 and eligible after this year.

Does Fletcher Cox move cement Howie Roseman's status as top dog? Assessing Eagles GM's cap magic so far

Slay clearly took less to stay. He definitely clears more than 23M guaranteed on the open market.

So both need to be paid, along with Hurts this upcoming off season.

Some of you sweat these contracts too much in my humble opinion.  It matters but not nearly to the degree that you are projecting.

Highly doubt he clears more than that. Stephon Gilmore got $14M last year guaranteed and was a year younger than Slay is now.

Ok, that Slay contract was dumb unless there’s some funny business involved.

Didnt we plan on re-structuring anyway? Yes I believe so.

Funny how everyone goes from "just play out Slay his last year and let him walk, don’t extend or restructure him” to "it’s a good idea to release him. Cut ties one year sooner rather than later” to now "great extension. Steal.”

I've been critical of Slay in the past, I was fine with letting him walk, not a fan of the new contract but we'll see how it goes ...🤷‍♂️

Nice to not gut the defense on Dessai in his first year here.

Gilmore was rough in 2021 though (in fairness, playing in Carolina under Rhule will do that to someone). Slay was a top 10 CB this year.

This contract is designed to give cap relief in the short-term and spread out the cap hits. Slay is likely not playing on the team in 2024.

If we get 1st half the season Slay back then great. If we get 2nd half of the season Slay back then crap

Right I could care less as long as it got done he is def still a top corner and a leader here. Just a good dude for morale period

If we get CJGJ back because of this deal, everyone will live with the deal one way or another. If not, opinions will probably change.

Ugh, they actually gave him 3 year extension?

I thought they said no new money

I suspect the Slay contract will end up being that he gets a little bit of money next year as a parting gift when he becomes a June 1 cut.

We’ll see how it shakes out when the real details come out, but I was hoping for more of a pay cut vs restructure.
