Since it is the FA period, can we trade some current posters for some FA (previous) posters?

What do you guys think of Oladime Zaccheaus as a slot option?

My gut tells me if and once CJG is signed, they are going to be quiet on the FA market.  Not sure what their cap space is but I'd have to imagine they are close to their spending limit in order to leave some cash for the draft class and if any potential vets become avaialble (Bradberry last year).

They still have needs but I just don't know how much they have left.

Nice backup.  Could have been Wentz though!

Go away. I wanted to argue with people when I said it should be Foles. But low and behold here comes good ole RTK with an even dumber take

Mariota it is

The timing of it says to me the Eagles likely tried to retain Minshew for the backup QB role.  After Minshew signed in Indy the Eagles pivoted to Mariota.

I'm not a Mariota fan at all.  The Titans instantly got better (demonstrably) when they sat Mariota down for Tannehill ... and Tannehill is meh.  The only time Mariota has looked competent in his career was a very brief stint (I think one game?) with the Raiders when Carr got hurt.

The trouble with this signing is we've seen through experience that Hurts misses 2-3 games per season.  Is Mariota a guy who can come in and win those games?  I think there were better alternatives out there.

Bad news for HE this morning.  I do agree, another dynamic TE would be great.  My hope is they take one higher in the draft with the stacked class.  Reality is they think they UDFA class of TE will be of a higher quality because of the amount of overall talent and they go taht direction.

I don't think we will spend a draft pick. Too few to grab a luxury like that.

If Gesicki was going to be cheap or would have made sense.

Now I need Chark or even Hollins.

was just thinking he's a local kid and only 25.  Seems like a little bowling ball with explosiveness that can help in many ways (sweeps, motion, etc.)... No idea what his asking price/expected market is though.  Especially if they do trade Quez.  Also has familiarity with Mariota

Does anyone know updated cap space after Slay was extended, Greedy and Mariota were signed?

How can we afford all this?

$54m dead cap hell.  They will likely have taken more money from future years again, but not sure if the dead money/void year issue will be as a significant has it has been over the past few seasons

Howie isn’t a cap genius. He’s simply pushing money into the future, when the cap goes up and theoretically is less valuable than today’s cap space. It’s smart, but we are far from being in good cap shape.

Yep. And he will absolutely keep kicking the can down the road because at some point, it'll be someone else's problem.

It‘s part of it. But there is a lot of other little tricks and contract negotiation were he is excelling. I think we are fine and he is doing an amazing job.

I honestly believe this to be incorrect.......yes he may push some forward but if you had a choice to pay $10,000,000 and have it come off the cap today when the cap is $250,000,000 or pay $10,000,000 in 3 years when the cap is $350,000,000......which $10,000,000 has a greater impact on the cap?  And this is just a hypothetical......

Yeah - rather than an annual spending restriction, the cap now seems to be a rolling five-year plan (as that is the limit on the bonus amortization) where Howie has over $1B to play with due to the void years dynamic.

For the most part it's working to field a team with good talent.  Will be interesting to see where they are when Devonta can be extended tho

If we had the space? You take the hit now, giving yourself more flexibility in the future.

Elliott restructured opening like 2.5 mil, Slay extension freed up a good chunk, no?  Is Lane supposed to restructure also ?

Happy St Paddy’s day from Howie "Mac” Roseman !

Wherever it may be, what do you think CJGJ gets an average per year, 8-9 million?
