those a-holes.

Would Myles Jack be an option?  He was a bust last year with the Steelers but he's still just 27.  He'll never live up to where he was drafted but can he come in and produce?

Edwards was a UDFA, and White was a super cheap 1 year free agent deal.

You are full of strawmen today (and every day).

He was correct in saying we dont prioritize those positions. That doesnt mean we dont still give someone the starting job...

Letting someone walk because of their previous low acquisition cost, regardless of their performance in their role, is super solid logic.

This is why I see Adebawore at 30 because he gives you depth at DT and DE

same for tuilopu. Think hes a sneaky likely pick for the eagles at 30.

The only true loss they'll feel this year is Hargrave. Do you really think Epps to Blankenship or Edwards to Dean are some type of huge drop offs? Epps got burnt more than Silicon Valley Bank depositors.

I think they are question marks, and thus, risks. Risks we should try to avoid, given that we already know how well we performed as a unit with their predecessors in place. Losing White, and potentially CJGJ will be felt as well. Individually, they are easy to rationalize, but cumulatively might be much more difficult.

Jacksonville let him go, in an offseason where they were spending money. And he busted with the steelers.

Remember he had bad knees which caused a major draft slide for him.

I think likely despite his age, he is cooked.

their performance was pretty mediocre. Considering the talent of the DL in front of them, lots of LBs could have done the same. Tranquill is unsigned and had a better season than either of them without such a good DL in front of him.

This is a bit of a strawman. We absolutely do have some constraints related to the cap. We played very well for an entire season that ended when came up short by only 3 pts in the Super Bowl, so we should be doing our best to retain all of our best players, yet we've lost quite a few starters already. Why did we lose them, if not because we couldn't afford them?

Hargrave, Sanders, Epps, Edwards are not going to be easily replaced. Penny came on a very cheap deal, and may be decently effective as a runner, but he's not in the same conversation as Sanders. Dean might be able to fill in for Edwards, but it's not exactly a foregone conclusion based on what little we saw of him. Don't even talk to me about Davis replacing Hargrave.

Fact remains, we all knew the cap related issues would significantly hinder our ability to retain talent that was primarily responsible for how well we performed as a team last season, and so far, that's bearing out to be true.

Sanders is not in the same conversation as Penny, penny is just way more injury prone which is the problem. As a pure runner, penny is leagues better, sanders has zero vision and benefited from our line. I doubt he sniffs 1000 rushing yards in Carolina

I suspect LB will be addressed via trade or hoping a guy like Wagner will take less to play for a contender.

Who had the worst Oline last season?

CGJ would be the only loss I think they will feel in the short term other than Hargrave. Edwards/White/Epps had mediocre seasons. It's like saying Alex Singleton was a loss.

Only one way to find out.

Yeah totally, they were the same as Singleton

Good talk, guys.

Edwards and White played with a top 3 DL and a top 3 secondary and still couldn't make plays on their own. They played fine but not to the point where I'm going to lose sleep over replacing them.

Im a Hooker fan. But I dont think we are going QB that early.

Actually, now that theyve signed Mariota, a backup theyre likely comfortable with, Id even say Im sure they wont draft a QB that early.

I don't know where he will go.  I could see him dropping into the 6th just because teams that need QBs are either signing FA or drafting them in the first. He's not a great developmental prospect due to his age.  It would likely mean that they would have to keep 3 QBs on their roster heading into the season.

I think a team that needs a QB in the next year or 2 can develop him. He can be 27 when he takes over a starting role, and that is just fine.

A team like us who doesnt need a starter right away... you can take him and hope to flip him eventually. But then hes even older by the time he is just getting a new start with a different team. He has more value to other teams now, on their bench being groomed for their job with their coaches, than he would if he was on our bench for 2 or 3 years before we trade him.

I think he is too talented to let get out of the 3rd round. Should go 2nd or 3rd.

TJ Edwards

159 tackles, 99 solo, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, 7 passes defensed

Kyzir White

110 tackles, 66 solo, 1.5 sacks, 7 passes defensed

Alex Singleton

120 tackles, 75 solo, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 INT, 1 TD, 4 passes defensed

Yes, they all are very comparable.

Sure, we'll see when they both get hurt for the season who's doing better at the time.

Sanders is an effective runner.  He has been productive and Carolina was OK at running the ball last year. Foreman put up over 900 yards.  If Sanders stays healthy, my guess is his YPC and yardage will be close to what it was this past season.  Penny may be a better runner but to say he's not in the same conversation just ignores his biggest problem.  He hasn't been able to stay on the field.  There's no counting on him as a runner.  He's not likely to hold up to 250 + carries as a runner.  Sanders did and was productive in the offense.  Penny was a cheap high upside signing but there's no reason to believe he's going to have a better year than Sanders.

There's our starting S

I'm pretty sure the Eagles will draft a new lead RB.  Last season the Eagles carries from the RBBC were:

Sanders -- 259 carries for 1,269 yards

Scott -- 54 carries for 217 yards

Gainwell -- 53 carries for 240 yards

I doubt the Eagles will ramp Gainwell's carries up from 53 to over 200.  He'll have an expanded role, no doubt -- but I see him in tandem with a draft pick, each getting 100-120 carries.  I'd love to believe Rashaad Penny can contribute 150 carries, but that's wishing and hoping.
