Do you happen to have a screen shot of his old structure? I'm curious what they had to show $9M. Based on his last deal it should have been like $4M and now increased to $5.7M

I don’t. I thought that’s what it said the other day but I could be wrong.

I wonder if there are teams trying to sign Gardner-Johnson as a nickel. Wonder if that could be some of his holdup. Maybe he is still trying to make the safety money, and offers are coming in for the nickel role.

In the end if he doesnt get safety money, I wonder if he goes somewhere else for a nickel job.

I’d be shocked if the Eagles offer wasn’t (at least) very competitive if that were to happen.

Maybe you’re thinking of Grahams original #? That was around $9M. Cox and Graham essentially had the same structure entering FA so Cox should have the same affect as Graham did. Void years stay in place, nothing accelerates but the new signing bonus proration is added so the new # slightly goes up.

Makes sense. I thought there was no way it went down. Thanks

Virginia might have some company as a #1 seed to lose to a #16.

It's over!

WR is an under discussed need. Watkins isn’t reliable and if either AJ or Smith go down we’re screwed. We have no one behind Watkins.

Wr can be a late add that returns kicks

Just saw we signed Mariota...IDC the money, terrible signing.  Given his exit from Atl we have enough ego's to deal with in Brown and his multiple personalities to include him.  Not to mention he's a terrible QB with an ego.

Luckily Mariota isn’t in a position here to even try to voice himself. I don’t like the signing either but it is what it is. Hoping we draft a rookie day 3.

He went to Atlanta for a chance to revitalize his career and wasn't happy when he lost his job.  He isn't coming here with any delusions.  He's coming here to play behind one of the best QBs in the league.  He knows his role is the backup.  There weren't ever any reports of him being a bad ego or locker room as backup with the Raiders.

This is the one year in awhile I didn’t put money into a bracket and boy was that a great idea

CJ wanted out of New Orleans because he wanted to be paid, and to get paid he needed to move to safety. NO wasn't going to move him and pay him, and CJ probably thought they were low balling him. Eagles stepped in and allowed him to switch to safety to give him that opportunity to be paid like a top safety. CJ finished with only 66% of the snaps since he landed on IR for the 2nd time in his 4 year career.

I don't think he's a top 5 safety, and he doesn't want to play nickle. He's somewhere outside of top 10, and a team isn't going to pay him the top safety money he is looking for. He has durability concerns and I think his versatility actually hurts his value more as a starter.

If he stays healthy all year, maybe he ends up with more INTs. Definitely more tackles. Season looks much more impressive.

As it is, he has not even a full year playing safety and suffered a major injury doing it. Very incomplete grade on that. Teams should be hesitant to pay him like a top player at the position.

If Love got like 8m a year, Gardner-Johnson isnt going to get a whole lot more. He can actually do better if he goes back to playing nickel for someone.

Hes probably having an identity crisis right now. Do I want to stay at safety and try to increase value for next offseason? Or do I just take the bigger money deal right now to go be a top nickel in the game?

With the safety making more than nickel idea, I wonder how long till you see smaller CBs like Clark Phillips, or Hodges-Tomlinson notifying teams to draft them as a S or they will hold out.

I think all the Mariota stuff is overblown.

It is. Whatever happened last year happened. But I dont see how anyone can think he is coming here with that same attitude. When you sign as a backup to the runner up league MVP you know youre not starting.

I think so too! I believe the FO saw what happened with Minshew in short yardage or QB sneaks and think they have a power rush built offense. Minshew couldn't execute it properly and luckily Hurts has more than enough talent to overcome IMO mediocre RB talent for the offense the Eagles scheme.

Hurts has missed games each year. What’s reasonable is to think that your number is likely to be called and you’ll earn an opportunity the following season by looking good with very good O talent around you. Also chance for a ring

Its time for CJ to snap back to reality. Other than Atlanta overpaying for Bates on day 1 the S market hasnt materialized. When guys like Love and Thornhill are only getting 6 and 7 million thats telling. The longer this goes the more money CJ is costing himself.

Like him being a good QB?
