We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

He will get cut with a post june 1st designation. They save 14M vs 6M if they do that. No team is going to trade anything more than a 7th for that contract so the compensation isn’t worth the cap space.

I’m fine if released going after him. However I’m guessing he’s gonna command more than what the eagles can either afford or want to pay at safety

All 2022 picks better step it up as well

Davis, Williams, Dean, and Jurgens need to step it up.  The problem there is that all 4 basically NEED to step up and that’s a pretty big ask for all of them to hit.

The tolerance for any injury to the secondary or OL (and both have the look of fairly injury prone units) is also going to be almost zero.

From The Inquirer article:

According to sources familiar with the team’s negotiations, the Eagles offered Gardner-Johnson a multi-year deal at the start of free agency that was worth more than what he ultimately signed for with the Lions. However, Gardner-Johnson was seeking to be paid an annual average in salary just shy of Bates. The Eagles’ initial offer wasn’t there, and he hoped ensuing offers would be as the Eagles shifted their focus elsewhere.

So they showed they value him enough to offer him more than what he got. And decided not to double back later when he could be had at a bargain comparatively to their first offer.

More to come about this. None of it is really adding up.

My take...  They focused first on CJGJ because he would have been a less expensive multi-year deal than Bradberry.  When he declined, they moved those resources to Bradberry.  There wasn't enough for both.

We only need you a couple times a year for board meetings.

thats fantastic news. I just joined a photo sharing site where I can make $.01 per click on my pics, so Im pretty interested in devoting time to building followers on there, and uploading more pics.

If it starts doing well, I might pay for a monthly plan which will enable me to make 9 cents per click instead.

At that point, I wont even need your stinkin job and those "bored" meetings. Im pretty much on the brink of big time influencer success.

Big time agree on this, particularly if he is not expensive. The thing is, he can flex all over the formation. For a moment, forget about the safety part of it. What if, say, one of your outside corners goes down?

Right now, who in the hell do we have to replace...either of them? Williams? If Mills was here, though, he'd be an NFL backup to one or both outside corners, and you can slide Maddox to safety, meaning that you just need to replace slot corner. That is a MUCH better situation going into the draft than having our two top corners and then a massive "?" behind that.

Mills can at worst back up both safety and outside corner, and for me that's worth the likely low amount of money he will command. He also adds a floor for safety, so you can take a risk on a starting safety, similar to what you're doing with Penny, rather trying to settle for something more reliable but worse.

Amos for example, he had a down year last year. With Mills around though, that raises the floor for the spot across from Ship. Johnson is out there too. I think it's a really good idea, particularly if you plan to add another player there to compete.

Yup I'm all for bringing mills back

He had his best season as an eagle at safety, plus like you say he can still play corner as well, he's a versatile player, was a good locker room guy good fit in Philly still has green hair, is familiar with Howie and Lurie and players that were here when he was, seems like a no brainer to me to bring him back, I never really liked that he left anyway.

It's not just this either, though this is pretty brutal.

I posted this before:

Top one, Mills in 2020, second, Gardner-Johnson in 2022. Matches those grades perfectly honestly.

I doubt coaches or GMs would agree.

Considering what tackling has deteriorated into from defensive secondaries, I bet they would.

The pendulum has swung towards coverage.

Welcome to a team that needs to pay a franchise qb

its really, really simple. HE moved on. HE wasnt going to accept any deal from Philly. He got insulted.

I wouldn’t argue that coverage is more important than tackling, but you can’t be an awful tackler at safety. You’re wrong there.

If that's the case then that means they preferred to give Cox that money rather than CJGJ. Which seems like an odd choice given the age and trajectories of the two players. And why they'd prioritize giving the remaining money to Cox when not too long ago CJGJ was one of their top priorities.

I hate reading McLane.

Yup, as per usual. This team needs Wagner and Byard, then Howie is absolved.

What some players fail to understand is that sometimes that price can go down. Need to show them economics in the market and what happens when there's a crash.

Would that be such a bad idea?  The Eagles have a really good track record converting untapped CBs to safety.

Williams isn’t a candidate for S.  If any CBs, I would guess Goodrich or maybe Jobe.

It’s pretty funny that CJGJ used that line a few weeks ago. Whoops.

Bringing in unhappy CJGJ also would have been tough.

So you're sure CJGJ actually came back hat in hand asking for $10M before they signed Cox?

Not sure what the Eagles are looking for at S given they don’t have a passing game coordinator/DB coach.  The Eagles do have Ss on the roster.  Some with real decent speed in Chachere and McCollum. Blakenship and Wallace do have some playing experience as does Scott.  Eagles have 8 CBs.   Not a great S draft.  We’ll see what shakes out.

Who’s McCollum?

Then I guess Greedy Williams shouldn’t play safety.
