Stupid statement.  This agent is a moron.   $17m guaranteed over 3 years?  $17m > $8m.  This is a hard game and guys get hurt.  Guaranteed money is better my man.  If he gets hurt this year, blows out his knee or whatever, his agent just cost him millions of dollars.

They're idiots and implying that 17M of his pay was lumped up in year 3 when in reality it would be structured as a 17M cap hit.

See: Slay's original contract/restructure

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

If the plan was for CJGJ to sign another one-year prove it deal, he could have agreed to it for a much higher amount on Day 1 or 2 when other teams still had more cap room. By the time they pivoted to that, too many teams had to say no.

If PFF grades have any validity, Blankenship was better than both CJGJ and Epps last year.  Wouldn't be surprised if he's penciled in as a starter.

Then draft a guy like Sydney Brown in the 2nd and we're good there.

They are still teams with cap space a plenty.  I think the main take away is that his value was never high. If he felt slighted and took less he'd have said it to prove a point.  The Eagles might have offered more guaranteed money but it was spread over a lower salary. I believe that.  My evidence is the contract he got that not one team beat

I think he and his agency value themselves way higher Thant he rest of the league did. Not that pff is the end all be all but they had him with a 63.9 grade. Which solak on his podcast said the interceptions are nice but they didn’t tell the whole story of his play at safety. I think eh and his representation assumed they could flaunt his 6 ints even though he missed a quarter of the season. But teams weren’t buying what they were selling. I actually think CJGJ is better as a slot corner than a safety.

Love brown. One of my favorite players in this draft.

The agent is implying it was not guaranteed and a backloaded deal.

Which is hilarious because we all know that Howie would instead not offer any contract rather than throw up something sad like that where there's a 100% chance of it being rejected. It's a bad look.

I think Howie is much more likely to bring in an experienced safety by trade at or after the draft, using 2024 draft capital.  Ideally a player under contract for two more years.  I don’t see him overpaying someone in free agency at this point.

Holding onto the dream of signing Bobby Wagner.  I know we don't value LB but maybe he doesn't break the bank.  He could put this defense over the top.

Cap space & Budgets (cash) are not the same. A lot of teams spend less in cash than they do in cap.

That would make more sense from his POV, but it sounds off to me.  That agent's gotta defend his crapy position somehow.  He did CGJ dirty.

I'd love to see what the early offers from Howie were, I know it was probably better than that.

I think the thing missing from a lot of people is he felt slighted. It’s why i said last night CJGJ is the type of guy that would hold grudges and slights to the point he’d leave to prove a point. There’s a reason the saints were willing to nnot pay him and trade him even though he was productive and 24.

Definitely makes sense.  i think we all suspected that was what was happening when we got Bradberry and Greedy.

Just wait until CGJ balls out for Detroit then signs a big deal with Dallas next year while the Eagles start K'Von Wallace!

This would require Dallas signing someone in free agency. Dallas will overpay their own guys, but they just don't sign external guys to big deals. (It's why they missed their window with Dak)

Who cares if he balls out for Detroit. He is not an Eagle any more and it was by his choice. Eff him and the organization is not a bunch of idiots. Wallace played because there are only 55 players available and into the season every team has to play its depth players because of injury. CGGJ was not the second coming of Dawk. He is a good player but can be replaced. Bringing back the corners and drafting well on D is much more important at this point.

He probably misses 5-7 games with injury so even if he does look great, i doubt he gets a big deal

When Elliss played in mop up duty last year, I thought he looked better than Bradley.  While we tend to reference traditional 4/3 terms for the Eagles LB (MIKE, WIL, SAM) the reality is the Eagles played a lot of 5/2 (with some 4i, some traditional 4/3, some 3/3/5 and even some Wide 9 mixed in) where Reddick was more of a 3/4 rush OLB than a SAM and Edwards and White played more off line ILB roles than MIKE and WIL.  When Dean and Elliss were in mop up duty, they were mainly playing ILB in a nickel package behind a 3 or four man front where Patrick Johnson wasn’t really playing a rush OLB or SAM but rather more of a traditional 4/3 DE.   It remains to be seen how the D will change under Desai.  Heck they are still shy at least one defensive coach.  One thing to note is that with the LBs they have at this time, they have some good speed.  Dean may be the slowest of the ILBs and Patrick Johnson the slowest of the OLBs.  They would be the fastest ILB or OLB on a LT of teams.  Imagine a OLB/SAM being "slow” with a 4.66 forty and 6.96 3 cone.  (Rumors were Dean ran a 4.74 forty but his sideline to sideline speed at Georgia makes me doubt he is that slow.  When I was ****ing about his STs instincts on taking himself out of the play and lane discipline earlier last season, I was noting he tended to be one of the first downfield. I would suspect Dean is a 4.5-4.6 speed guy with a sub 7 three cone.)

I do think there were similairities but Edwards was the starter on dime packages and made the defensive calls.  I also think I think the knock on Dean's athleticism isn't well founded. He  My sense is that he didn't get playing time because, much like Schwartz, Gannon preferred having veteran players on the field whenever possible and Edwards did not give Gannon any reason he shouldn't be on the field. .  He also was OK in training camp but didn't, according to the beat writers, make many splash plays.  Both he and Ellis made plays when they got the chance.  I agree that Ellis looked better than Bradley.  Bradley does not seem to get to the ball.  He's a decent ST player but is probably a back up and spot starter at ILB.

I do think the weakside WLB in a 5 man front has to cover more of the flat in certain zone coverages.  The strongside will defend the middle and the WLB will defend outside curl routes and the flat.  I don't know that Gannon had the ILB switch based on strong vs. weak side play.

Good thing we still have Zach Paschal

HAHAHA Gannon.

How’s things?

Real good, glad that you are back to posting.

Would've liked to keep Pascal, but need to see the money. Not a huge loss though at some point they'll need to add another WR.

So replacing DHop with Pascal. That'll go well.
