I think Wagner gets more than Edwards per year average. Meaning a lot of the LBs got about 6 per year.  I'd imagine Wagner gets at least that on a one year deal. Not a ton more but not less either. More than CJGJ himself which he should because he's a better player

I know Jalen Mills isn’t an exciting option, but if disguising coverage, switching on releases and being interchangeable are that important to Desai, then Mills is a fantastic fit as a cheap bandaid.

Wouldn't be my first choice but better than what we currently have. Question is band aid for what.  There isn't anything else coming that I can see.

I don’t want him to be our top add at safety. I’m still holding out hope for John Johnson. I’d take Mills as our second safety and keep Blankenship as safety 3. Hopefully we get a decent prospect in the draft to groom.

A Mills/Blankenship combo is going to be bombs away downfield.  That's 2 guys that would struggle to turn and run with a TE.

John Clark is reporting now that what CJGJ's agent put out is misleading and the Eagles made CJGJ an offer, when he declined, they pivoted to Bradberry and Slay and used up almost all their allotted cap space for DBs so no longer could afford CJGJ. <--- which I find hard to believe. You telling me if Derwin James was cut today and went to the Eagles and said "I love the Eagles, it's my lifelong dream to play there, I'll come to you on a one year 8 million deal" Howie would go "Sorry, we used up all our allotted space for DBs"? No chance.

ANyway, there is an ongoing battle of narratives being leaked to reporters right now. You can tell the difference. The local reporters are putting out one side and the national guys are putting out another.

Agree with this. Eagles are going public I think because they are aware of how much the fans wanted him back.

But clearly the Eagles did NOT want him back. The so-called pre-FA offer, using Slay/Bradberry as an excuse and this grandstanding is all pretext. It is what it is.

Im not so worried about the team right now because I know Howie is going to keep adding guys even well after the draft, however we usually dont go into the draft with these many holes and lack of depth...and I put emphasis on depth.

We need 2-3 safeties

1 slot CB

At least 2 LBers

A DT and DE

A G and T

2 WRs with one of those probably being your new 3rd

RB #1

And most important position of all a Punter

 

The Eagles would have taken CJGJ back on their terms.  From the sound of it, regardless of exactly what "their terms" were, they didn't want him back that badly.  CJGJ took it personally to the point that he didn't want to come back and probably would not have come here for the same deal he took with the Lions.

I'm essentially 100% sure of the above and the rest is noise and misdirection from both sides.

It’s probably similar to when the Eagles checked in on Robby Anderson when he was a FA but the price was too high so they moved on. Later on he took a cheap deal with Carolina. Howie even referenced that when taking about how FA changes but the prices change too late sometimes.

Mills as a S in Desai's scheme could actually work out very well. He has versatility as a backup across multiple positions. I'd rather John Johnson if an either/or scenario, but would be thrilled if both could be landed.
