the 2017 roster had jenkins and it didnt stop the pats from scoring 33 points, the reason why we won the sb was because we have more weapons on offense.

That didn't work this year though did it

So that Slay contract seems to make him a near lock to be on the team for the next two years. It’s hard to see us take a corner at 10 if I’m understanding the contract correctly.

I'd be shocked if Rapp, Johnson or Amos aren't signed and I think it will be Amos

Probably, he looks like he has lost a step though. I'd prefer one of the others. Safe to say we won't be getting anyone of any significance. I'll take a wild guess and say the same for LB

They could still June 1st him next year if they wanted to and make it work. I agree with your premise that they think he can play 2 more years. 2023 I feel good about, but we'll see for 2024.

I feel like not recreating the Vernon Davis Sexual Prowess thread with Jimmy G was a missed opportunity.

Midseason trade?

Both are locks for 2024 since they have guaranteed "option" bonuses. Neither should be here in 2025 since they each have a $16M non guaranteed option bonus which would be crazy to give to a 33 and 35 year old CB. On his last pod, Kapadia said there wasn't one starter in the league last year at CB that was older than 32. We are really playing with fire on these two.

That would be a terrible allocation of resources to post June 1st him one year after giving him an extension. $0 in savings. $10M in dead cap in 2024 and another $25M in dead cap in 2025. Hard to see that happening.

DC + Field Condition issue not personnel.

Hopefully official time is better

That time is on a fast track too

Idk about a lock. Having two veteran DBs coach up a talented kid for 2 seasons will give you depth and you’ll still have 3 seasons of him as a starter before needing to negotiate long term contract. Even if we didn’t have Slay and Bradbury I don’t think they’d have gone DB at 10.

I don't think either Slay or Bradberry tackle well enough to move inside to safety, either.

Bradberry is on the team in 2023 and 2024. Slay is the only question mark for 2024.

What about Hickman, Paris, and Zach Harrison?

Neither is seeing 2025. But for 2024, I'm way more worried about 31 year old Bradberry than 33 year old Slay.

There is no question mark. Eagles aren't taking $35M in dead cap for no reason. If he was a question mark, they would not have extended him. It's that simple.

Bradberry would be an easier cut next year than Slay since he would only be $17M in dead cap.

Eagles structured the contracts to be more financially tied to the hip of Slay. If the plan was to release Slay, just to extend him, just to cut him one year later in the same year they gave him a guaranteed bonus, Howie is an idiot.

Yup and having slay and bradberry didn't keep mahommes from not completing a pass in the 2nd half.

Damned if you do damned if you don't🤷‍♂️

Not sure about the reason eagles win was because they had more weapons on offense, that Superbowl set a record for most combined yards by two teams in a Superbowl and Brady went off, it didn't come down to the eagles having the ball last and scoring it camr down to BG making a defensive play.

With most recent super bowl it came down to needing to make one defensive play though I tend to give a lot of blame towards the swamp of a field they were playing in, had it been a suitable playing surface I have a hard time believing the eagles don't get more than zero sacks.

That's neither here nor there though.

If one is of the opinion that eagles need a better offense going forward to win shootouts then the logical pick in upcoming draft would be Bijan Robinson.

Slay deal is going to end up looking like that awful Alshon deal where we had to keep Alshon at the end even though he was clearly washed and also running to reporters to crap on the QB.

Just not a great off-season for Howie thus far.  Great builder but showing again like he did after 2017 that he doesn't know how to maintain and gets too attached to older players.

That would piss me off

I have no idea how we have almost 14mm in cap space...

I can see a G being take in round 1 but towards the end of it - would fit what they have done in recent years. Would I do it?  No, but the history is there.  I don't see 2 x DL in round 1 at all.

Cody Mauch in Late Round 2 images a lot of sense.  Can play all 5 O-line positions effectively.  Good option for long term RG after Jurgens moves to Center.

Yup I would have been fine with letting slay walk, he had a real tough 2nd half of the season and a mediocre Superbowl and that contract like you said will be an albatross.

I'd say the same about the Cox contract but it's only a 1 year deal and Cox is coming off his best year since 2018 so...

But yeah seems Howie is getting too attached to players , better to let a dude go a year too early than a year too late
