I don’t think he would have gotten that on the open market, tbh. At least not with both years guaranteed like in Philly.

He's a toothless hillbilly who likes to hit people. Welcome to Philly!

The best part is he wasn't even trying to get them fixed. Not sure how you enjoy eating certain foods with that grill but hey, more power to him.

Thanks NCIggles now I have arthritis from scrolling

Did it happen on the job? I might know someone that can help you with that?

Honestly, feels like Slay and Rosenahaus won that fight fairly easy. I'm sure Howie ideally wanted a simple restructure to his contract this year and move on next year but Slay/Rosenahaus were able to read the room and navigate their way into an extension because that was the only other option for immediate cap relief.

Howie isn't a fool.  They wanted to keep Slay and gain flexibility.  It's not a bad deal for each side assuming Slay stays healthy through next year.

How many WR's do the Jets plan on having??

Hardman signed with the Jets from Cleveland

I know the reports have been the Jets have no plans to trade Moore, but I don't see how they keep him at this point. They have like 8 WRs.

Howie should make the call and get us a new slot WR.

I was gonna say, is that like Cleveland from Forrest Gump?

Did they sign Tex too?

Disagree. I'm not saying he's a fool, but I am saying he was backed into a corner and likely had to do something that wasn't ideal.

And it can be a bad deal if he stays healthy but just cant keep up anymore. And when they move on after 2024, there will be $24M in dead cap.

Agreed on the Elijah Moore train too

But he wasn't on the list.

Moore has been objectively less productive than Quez, so I can't see his price being that steep.

Granted, I think him playing with awful QBs was a part of that, but Wilson played with awful QBs too and balled his rookie year, so Moore has definitely been an underachiever. But worth taking a flier on if they're realistic in their asking price to see if the Eagles can capitalize on a depreciated asset.

Staying healthy and also playing at a high level. Its a pricy gamble. Howie would rather gamble on older CBs staying healthy and playing at a high level all while paying a lot of money instead of gambling on a CB in round 1. A complete unknown with high upside but at a much cheaper deal. Its a bad blueprint to go by and he didnt learn his lesson with Alshon

Alshon wasn't playing at the level these guys were last year. Also if they don't go CB at 10 that means they are filling another position with a young player on a cheaper deal.  They didn't forfeit the pick to keep Slay & Bradberry.

At least Alshon was 27, not 32 going on 33. That's what makes this so much worse in my opinion.

Just look at where CB's fall off a cliff.

Revis by 30.

Asomugha by 30.

Talib by 30.

etc, etc.

Maybe Howie also knows he has no idea how to draft CBs.

Rodgers was last seen heading back to his Dark Room to contemplate the move.

The eagles will end up paying Slay $75 million for five years, which is $15 million a year. That seems to be a fair deal for a top cb. You can get upset about the dead cap, but the opposite side of the argument is that they received top cb play for three years that was way under market value.

If he's a post 6/1 designation it's only $9 million in dead money after 2024.

If Howie doesnt know how to evaluate CBs then he needs to find someone who does. Hes the GM and he needs to do his job. Using this excuse as a way to legitimize Howie's actions of signing and extending vets on questionable contracts is just bad business and a bad blueprint to go about building a team for the long haul.

Dead money is always going to be the same amount, just depends when you want to have it accounted for.

Corey Davis could also be an option as a cheap WR for depth. Eagles liked him in the draft and he’s played well, against them. He’s been rumored to be cut for a while

I'm not saying it's necessarily the right decision.  My point is that Howie views it in terms of keeping or not keeping Slay on the roster for next year.  He's looking down the road but they weigh the cap implications for next season with Slay on the roster vs. cutting him with a post-June 1 designation and having to find a starting CB of his caliber. They wanted to keep Slay.  I think to some extent Rosenhaus called Howie's bluff on the trade partner deal.  He knew the Eagles wanted to keep Slay rather than release him.  He didn't get what Slay initially asked for either which was 3 years of guaranteed money.  I don't think the Eagles were going to Slay with an offer of restructuring that did not include some level of a guarantee.
