I hope they can get a clearer, non-blurry picture of this monster at some point.

I don't think media can follow him into the locker room to get the picture you desire

Average age of players the Eagles lost to other teams: 27.5...The Eagles lost four of the youngest starters on defense.  CGJ was 25 while Epps, White and Edwards were all 26.  Miles Sanders will be 26 in May as will Minshew.

Average age of players the Eagles signed: 31.4. BG and Kelce are 35.  Slay is 32.  Bradberry 20.  Cox is 32.   There isn't a single position they got younger at.  Penny is 27, Morrow and Evans are about to be 28.  Mariota turns 30 early in the season.

The age only matters if they are pieces of your nucleus.  Gardner-Johnson could have been but clearly didn't wish to re-sign in PHI.

The others -- Epps, White, Edwards, Sanders, Minshew can all easily be replaced with even younger players.

So if we look at how FA has gone, the Eagles have gotten older across the board.  Not ideal IMO.  Is this a run it back mindset?  Not sure what to think when you look at FA as a whole to date.  A lot more to be done wtih the draft, trades and the 2nd wave of FA plus surrpise cuts that could come about.  Found the age stat in Reubs latest article but took it a bit further with comparisons.

The Eagles have given over $50 milion to their returning veterans for 2023 and they've locked themselves up in 2024 with a 33 year old Slay and 31 year old Bradberry.

This could either lead to a great 2023 team or blow up in Howie's face.  He was fantastic with some of his moves last year but I fear that all of the GM of the year, having fans forgive him at the game and his response to them has all gone to his head and he's reverting to some of his old tricks that aren't necessarily good.

Yup, I would have been fine letting slay and Cox walk.

Kelce was a no brainer to bring back, he's still top center in the league

BG is still productive and came relatively inexpensive.

Letting Edwards Epps white walk isn't a big deal, they're JAGs.

Gardner Johnson stings a bit but eagles made him a fair offer.

Seumalo replaced by a younger Jurgens.

Minshew being replaced by an older More experienced Mariota is a good thing.

Dean is younger than Edwards And white and will most likely start

Davis, Milton younger than Hargrave.

So it's not all retirement home players.

I get Kelce and BG and was hoping for both of them.  Cox, I don't understand one bit, especially at the price he got.  It's past time they let him walk.  Bringing back both of the CBs and having them locked in for 2 years is my biggest concern.  Those two moves alone take CB off the board.  I can't see them drafting a CB knowing he's sitting until his 3rd year.  They have Maddox locked up too so slot CB isn't exactly open.  There are exceptions, but CB is a young mans game.  The Eagles are going to be trotting out the oldest duo in the league for the next 2 years.

They were free of both of them and the window to add young talent was wide open.  Now i don't see how they can add any talent given the makeup of the roster.

I'd take Keion White over Lukas. Similar body type and can do do similar things but White is a much better pass rusher with more athleticism and still has isn't maxed out.

What killed us last year was slot WR play. Teams would repeatedly kill us inside, but it was WRs, not TEs who did the damage.

Yup losing Maddox for half the year took its toll and to be fair most teams can't cover TEs most TEs on a LB is a mismatch.

I'm not looking forward to seeing Dean in coverage, his lack of length really limits him in coverage.

Morrow could be an upgrade over white in coverage, definitely will be an upgrade over Edwards in coverage and definitely an upgrade over white in run support.

We'll see Gannon was so he'll bent on not getting beat deep that the middle of the field was often wide open.

Hopefully Desai can be a bit better

Would that bounce Sweat from the 1s and have it as Ness and Reddick?

Do we not start 2 DE’s with Reddick on the field? I thought he was more of a blitzing 5th lineman in early packages

I don’t think. VN would rotate but Reddick is technically a SLB so all 3 could start.

Milton Williams had 4 sacks in less than 400 snaps last year, following a promising rookie season. I really want to see him get big playing time in 2023. I’m excited that a rotation of Cox/Williams/Davis with 1 other high snap dude would be a proper progression from the  Hargrave era

Age curves are different for each player. Kelce was awesome last year. Might have been his best season.

We practice less, and don't hit in camp. That makes it easier for older players to produce.

If it makes you feel better, we're about to get a lot younger as of 2024.

Here we go!!

Trade 10, 30, 2024 round 2 to AZ for Budda Baker and pick 3 to take Anderson

Realistically, that would take a 2024 1st and then some.

Cox -- they don't trust Davis and Milton Williams yet to give them the DT presence they need.  They figure Cox is a better option than a full year of Suh or Joseph or other FA at the position, I guess.  $10M is more than I would have given but (apparently?) he turned down more money elsewhere to re-sign.

CB -- could still be taken at #10 if, for example, Witherspoon plays slot CB and Maddox moves to FS.  Until the Eagles bring in a true free safety I'll assume that's the plan, because I'd bet against Blankenship being gifted a starter job there, or the other guy they just signed.

I would trade draft picks for a pro bowl safety and the best pass rushing prospect since Von Miller

Haven't we been using Reddick as a DE?

Keion White is 24 and Van Ness is 21.  That's huge

Maybe this is a good sign, now that we don’t sign expensive as hell free agents? : nyjets

I'm not as high on Anderson as some, he's fast and quick but doesnt have the insane bend Von Miller does, nor is he as explosive.

I like Buddha baker but I can't see Howie giving up much for a safety nor wanting to pay him.

Having said that Pro Bowl safety in today's league isnt saying much, it's a devalued position across the league and somebody has to make the pro bowl.

We do sometimes have Reddick in with Graham and Sweat depending on matchups. We did run more 3-3-5 than any team in the league this year (Reddick as a standup DE effectively)

Anderson is pretty explosive. He's worth every penny we would spend to trade up. Best player in the draft and it's not close IMO.

That's fine, he's still much better than Van Ness is all I'm saying. Give me the better player in this specific situation.
