Back in the fifties most workers did not have a pension, no one had a 401k and many workers did not have a substantial portion of the benefits that may be offered today. The house was on a thirty year mortgage and there was one car in most families, if one at all. Most households did not have a single TV and avoided calling long distance.  Party lines still abounded. The "good old days” really weren’t.  The cultural and economic comparisons with today really aren’t accurate.

I remember my grandma's first microwave.

It was that weird green color that was so prevalent in the 70s and  it had a  time dial on it with 3 push buttons below it a red one for stop, a green one for start and a white one for who knows what.🤷‍♂️

It was a lot louder than today's  microwaves but did about the same as today's, I have no idea how much she paid for it but she loved that microwave.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Sure would be nice if they were showing interest in Rashaan Evans. Unfortunately they are dumpster diving at LB and it appears even worse off than they were last year since at least they were willing to get a guy like White and pay him 3 million.

I think he can grow if thrown into the fire. But there's certainly no guarantee of that.  Safety and LB both need work still and both seem unlikely to benefit from a top 50 pick in the draft as the Eagles will probably not choose to address those positions early

It would be nice if Howie would attempt to address those positions for once but I don't see it.

Have to hope they get lucky and find a safety and LB in the later rounds or UDFA like they did with Edwards and some other guys, I can't imagine Howie is going to allocate any serious resources towards those two positions

I'm not a believer in expecting starters from the draft in year 1.  Some guys pop but it's impossible to predict which pick at which position.  I do think if it all looks terrible then Howie will trade a pick from next year early in camp for a decent player

They should sign Deion Jones

I'm holding out hope they trade for one. They did try to pay Williams and then Reid after losing out. They eventually traded for CJ.

Maybe just maybe they trade for another. If the Bucs can't afford Winfield Jr it's possible they want to get some compensation for him now.

I think the Slay & Bradberry contracts will make them very unlikely to trade for a high cost safety at this point.

Sure. They won't though because he will probably cost 3-4 million.

Kind of like he did with CJGJ last year, I could see that, Howie will shake the trees and see what comes loose.

What about Darnell Savage?  Seems like 10 for 15, Savage and maybe mid round pick might do it

Lol the circle jerk had nothing to do with Carson strong.

I didn't melt down nor did I report anything to the mods, called out your little circle jerk for pming each other to organize a trolling scheme against one poster, because as you and others said you were bored and it was fun...

I get it though, your circle shrunk and now you gotta go through a whole pack of saltines by yourself...how sad...☹️

Dont fret though Its recently been revealed 4for4 started his own circle jerk...better hurry up space is limited and saltines are going quick.👍

Saltines?

If the Eagles are smart they'll still get a jump on new wrinkles for the formation. I'd actually invert the idea of the short yardage back with a guy who's insanely fast or insanely productive per carry. The reason is basically that if you did that, and made the entire defense key on the sneak, you'll have free yardage around the edge, especially if you can get the defense in a weird anti-run package and just hurry up after to prevent them from subbing.

You can basically have a toss-sneak disguise on every single QB sneak and make every person on defense hate life.

If you did this, it wouldn't matter if they banned tush push in 2024. They're just screwed either way.

Damn, I turned off the UCLA-Gonzaga game with a few minutes left and went to bed. Looks like I missed a classic.

I don’t watch every team’s games and haven’t watched Morrow play to say he’s great or he’s awful.

But knowing this:

1. 6’ 220lb LB starting next to an already pretty tiny Dean.

2. After watching Morrow start for a year, a professional team felt it worthwhile to invest $20m in upgrading the position with TJ Edwards.

3.  Prior to TJ Edwards (not making him out to be prime Ray Lewis), the Eagles’ scouting and results with the interchangeable parts scrap heap philosophy at lb has almost exclusively unearthed really bad players.

All the evidence really points to Morrow as the brand new whipping boy for the defense above anything else.

I agree with your premise: we should draft another big DT in the first 2 rounds to keep our LBs clean.

Ok Boomer...😒

The top tax rate in 1930 was much higher, anything past 400,000k was taxed at 97% now that should be adjusted for inflation but failed Reaganomics cut that down to 30 something % and republicans keep slashing it further telling us that giving tax breaks to the rich trickles down, 40 years of failed trickle down have shown otherwise, the rich don't create jobs or share the wealth they hoard it.

In the last few years the top 10% have captured 80%  of created wealth, inequality is higher than it was before the depression.

2 people in the US control more wealth than the bottom half of the rest of the US population.

80% of the worlds resources are controlled by the top ten% of the population.

That means if there were ten people sharing 10 dollars 1 dude would get 8 dollars and the other 9 people would split the remaining 2 dollars, would you work for that?

Real wages are way down, Inflation is up and every time capitalism in this country fails we bail it out, socialism bails it out, banks, stock market, housing market etc..., I'm still waiting for my refund...😒

The ave. Earner pays about 30-50 dollars a year in taxes towards welfare like SNAP, that same ave. earner pays between 400-700 dollars in corporate subsidies yet I don't hear you calling them lazy moochers who don't want to work...

That's our current situation, it didn't get that way because people are lazy and don't want to work it got that way because a  select few are greedy.

Tax the rich increase social safety nets that keep people out of poverty and allow them to live decent lives and people will be more willing to work when they're  Not  working just to merely survive another day in the rat trap.

People want to work, they don't want to be exploited. There's gotta be a better way than the current path we are on as a country.

Tl;dr your clown show if you think i am a boomer. Im 48 and have lived and worked in lots of different settings

The wealth gap has been increasing consistently and drastically in this country for a very long time. I'm not 100% certain when it started but it was likely when Reagan introduced his "trickle down economics" scam. Anyway, the middle class is getting smaller and smaller of the time. As you mentioned, a one income family with a modest job in the 50's was able to own a house, two cars, and live a comfortable life.  That is a distant memory now.

Mostly because we bombed the crap out of other major economies

Ika from baylor is a dude i like. He and Davis would be nuts

I've been going back and forth on something.

Last year with 3 first round picks, Howie pushed one to this year to spread out that draft capital and give us flexibility (speculated contingent on how Hurts performed).  Well, Hurts performed and we have two picks.  Furthermore, we have quite a few picks next year, so there is less motivation to stock up there.  Finally, we have quite a few holes to fill this year given the current state of the roster and cap.

With 10, I feel like we need to fire that bullet somehow.  Trade up, down, etc.  But use that pick to eventually get a player.

But what about #30.  If someone comes and offers a future first and another pick (lets say 3rd), do you take it?
