It's really, really hard to know all 32 teams at a high level. You have to be watching film 30 hours a week to do that. Media members also have to be on their own podcasts, guest podcasts, radio hits, TV hits, write articles, be in meetings, etc. So their analysis is either team-specific (only watches one team) or superficial (knows the league enough to discuss intelligently, but never the back-end of the roster).

I haven’t bemoaned losing CJGJ much at all…but signing about 8 crap players on $1m contracts could have been a decent one at $8m.

He played 25 percent of their ST snaps last year. Core special teamer appears to be an exaggeration, but he did play some.

I know I'm an old school dinosaur, but I view Edmunds as a SS -- effective as a Malcolm Jenkins-type role, close to the LOS.  Competition for Blankenship's spot. 

The Eagles still need a FS to cover real estate; hopefully a better one than Epps.  Still not convinced we won't see Edmunds-Maddox at safety.

Can't stand Solak.  It sucks because I like Shiel but Solak and their producer on the The Ringers Philly Special podcast are so bad.

I think our safety play was overrated last year so there's that. They were solid but on a play by play basis not really in the good category.  That said I think we're slighlty below that stiil

BLG and Kempski touched on this in their latest podcast.  All this fan talk about moving Maddox to safety makes no sense.  He's a good nickel corner and if you move him then you have a need at nickel corner.

I think Edmunds was probably drafted too high... There was a mini-run of Safeties picked in the first round of 2018 draft: Minkah Fitzpatrick #11, Derwin James #17, then Edmunds at #28.

Tbh I’d be pretty content if we sign Johnson to go with edmunds as the starters with  Blankenship And Evans as the backups. Johnson and edmunds actually fit together well. Edmunds is more of a box safety and Johnson is better in coverage. It’s a good fit. It’s not a top 5 tandem but id bet it’s better than half of the league. Add on if the eagles can add some more push rushing to the DL then i think it’ll help them look even better

Maybe we should just scrap the Safety position and just put all CBs in the secondary. 

Kinda like the NBA where they don't really have positions anymore.

I got to imagine it’s just a move and the move hasn’t come. Cause Blankenship and edmunds as starters is gonna be an issue. Teams will attack the middle of the field all day. We thought that was an issue last year when CJGJ was out. It’s gonna be worse if they are the starters. plus lack of nfl experience with Dean is gonna take him some time to adjust
