Btw, something I wondered about today:

The Eagles hired Brandon Hunt last year from the Steelers. The Steelers have used high picks on RBs in the past. I wonder if he’s been in Howie’s ear about drafting RBs high and if that has anything to do with them meeting with Bijan Robinson.

I doubt it, it’s probably just due diligence.

Alabama is going down

Thing is that Slay and Bradberry are a lock on the roster for this season and next.  I don't think they would draft someone at 10 just to have them sit for 2 years.  So then it become a question of can you slide him in to play nickel?  Do you move him to safety until Slay/Bradberry are gone or one of them are injured just so you get him on the field?

It's just not going to happen at 10.  They are going oline or dline.

And what happens if one of them gets injured?

From what I read of these tackles it sounds like they can slide into guard and play there until Lane is ready to hang it up.

Kirk Cousins is on a contract year and the Vikings may be good enough to keep them out of contention for one of the top QBs next year too. They’re a sleeper team to trade into top 10 if they like one of these QBs a lot. It will certainly cost more next year with the level of talent.

I haven’t heard that about Paris, just Skoronski who IMO blows. But you’re right, it will probably be one of them knowing Howie.

You don’t know if Slay and Bradberry both will be back next year and if they are they’ll be shutdown corners. What if one of them falls off. I think CB is more likely than OL. It will depend on the players available and how they’re graded, not their positions.

Their contracts make them locks to be back next year.

Slay has a $35M dead cap hit next year if they move on from him compared to a $11M cap hit if he is on the roster.  Bradberry has a $17.2M dead cap hit if they move on from him and a $4.9M cap if he is on the roster.  One of them is going to have to get arrested and do some really goofy off the field crap to not be on this team in 2024.

That's the only instance you'd you get to see a corner taken at 10 see the field in his natural position outside of garbage time.  But you look at both over their careers and both have had the fortune of good healthy and missed hardly any time at all (*knock on wood*).

Just knowing how this franchise operates I doubt that CB is in the cards at 10 especially with Slay and Bradberry locked in for the next 2 years.  If they moved on from Slay or didn't re-sign Bradberry then I would see it as a very real possibility because I think they were looking at CB in the draft they got DeVonta before Surtain and Horn went off the board.  But I just don't see it all that likely at all anymore.  I think it's about 60% DT/DE/EDGE, 30% OT and 10% wildcard something else.

so then we have Jurgens sitting for 2 years.  Either way, they would be using premium picks on guys who aren't contributing for half of their contracts.

Rather have a RB that you run in to the ground for his full contract than an OL who might play 2 and then who knows what happens.

Howie is going to trade down from #10. There isn’t a position besides S, LB, RB that would be a day 1 starter or even really an active contributor, and he’s not going to draft any of those 3 positions that high.

Dead money but not a cap hit if traded?

I really like them both.

Witherspoon physicality is impressive and Gonzalez length with his athleticism is impressive as well.

Personally I'd go Gonzalez 1 Witherspoon 2 but not by much.

Paris was the RG for OSU 2 years ago

I think it depends on who is available at that position. If Adrian Peterson is there at 10 you grab him. I don’t know if they think anyone is the Adrian Peterson of their position but I don’t think they are opposed to taking any positions if the player is special enough. If that makes any sense.

I agree though that a trade down is probable if they aren’t overly enamored with anyone. Would be great to trade down and still grab Bijan or another impact player.

The dream scenario is that QB 4 falls to 10 and someone in the 14-19 range wants him bad enough to trade a pair of #1s.

I could see Chicago making yet another awesome trade at 9 to do the same thing though.

Howie is definitely going to trade down at some point. No chance he only has 6 picks.

Whether it’s from 10 I think will depend on how much they love the players sitting there. I hope they aren’t swayed from drafting a corner, it’s a huge need.

You mean Chark or Davis? If Chark gets 5 million, I think Davis could be had for 3-4. Whether it’s him or not, I think it’s very probable they add a guy before the draft. Outside of the top 3 it’s basically special teamers.

I'm talking about period for our 3rd receiver. They barely get any targets. They shouldn't spend more than what they would for Quez on a number WR3. Preferably they bring in one that is a STs ace punt returner so we don't have to waist a roster spot on just a specialist.

No #1 seeds.  My Coogs go down bad.

It’s interesting that no one has talked about trading up given us having two 1sts.

Will Anderson Jr falls past Arizona Howie will start making calls to Seattle, etc
