You need a pipeline when you hire young, bright coaches.  For Steichen and Gannon the pipeline was Brian Johnson and Dennard Wilson, apparently.  That’s not to say Wilson will get the DC job; it’s a bit unnerving to think of two rookie coordinators running the offense and defense.  There would be an advantage to bringing in an experienced DC who Sirianni wouldn’t need to ‘babysit’, so to speak.

Just not Vance Joseph, please.  His coaching record inspires zero confidence.  Almost every stop he’s made, the defenses have gotten worse.  The names I mentioned for DC before were Mike Zimmer and Kris Richard.  Jim Leonhard would be my choice for DB coach if Wilson is promoted to DC.

Zimmer would have won them the SB with the talent they had last year

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

And if those two are gone in a year or two who are the coaches likely to be next up?

Worry about that when you get there.

There is no way to stop it, that's why they are making it illegal.

There is a way to stop it. Don’t allow yourself to get in 4th and half a yard to go

To me the league will be making a mistake in outlawing it. The play goes back to the roots of the sport. There is plenty of wide open athleticism on display already. This one play of pure power and aggression is an item that is disappearing from the sport little by little. Here is one place the old school value can be kept while still having a modern approach to minimizing injuries.

This is just sour grapes. If its legal, every team can do it. If every other team tries it and is not as successful as us, we are just better at it. That doesnt mean its unfair, and shouldnt mean it needs to be outlawed.

Just because Philly is better at something I guess the league has to take it away. Philly can never be good at something. If it benefits Philly, we cant have that in pro sports.

I posted about this last night but it just pisses me off beyond belief.  This quote especially.

"It amounts to a rugby scrum. The NFL wants to showcase the athleticism and skill of our athletes. This is just not a skillful play. This is just a tactic that is not an aesthetically pleasing play, and I think the competition committee is going to take a look at it.’’

If the NFL wants to ban a play because it isn't a skillful play then they should ban the QB kneel down.  The Super Bowl, the biggest game of the year with billions of dollars invested, ended on 3 straight plays where the QB kneeled and then stood around.  By the NFL standards, how does that showcase any skill and athleticism?

Why isn't the bold feature working?

Yeah, it's dumb logic.  The Eagles used it 2.5x a game.  Take the pushing away and maybe they use it once a game.  We are talking about 1 to 2 plays a game that feature power and old school aggression based on a play that goes to the very heart of the sport.

If they want to help the D they should get rid of the DL flinch false start - I don’t find the playacting and pointing entertaining.

And yet... it is a skillful play.

Riiight.

We’ll definitely be drafting a guy in the top half of the draft. Hargrave is going to be the most difficult decision because he’s going to command big money and is also our most important pass rusher.

Correct, resigning Hargrave or replacing his production is more important than what Fletch provided (as Milton is in the wings). Which flavor of DT draftee to choose is also an interesting decision - seems to be very few 3T prospects with pass rushing bonafides (Kancey) , and a few versatile guys that would fit in well along the 5DL front but are a work in process in terms of pass rush (Benton).

I’m fine with them taking away the rugby scrum. Hurts is picking up the first down on basic sneaks anyway.

Jalen Reagor is so bad, he can't hit basic benchmarks.

With the departure of 2 coordinators, will they bring some of assistant coaches with them?  Also players?  There would be many changes in this off-season.

AR when he was with the team lost some of his assistants and did not refill with similar or better quality.  Siri seems to favor promoting in-house for the coaching staff.  Maintaining a strong staff should be in order.

No Rallis yet for Gannon.

If the NFL want to remove the scrum becoz it's not showing athleticism, etc, then they need to outlaw the piles after initial contact has been made.  They are one and the same things, and in reality, more dangerous with players joining at full speed, so the play should be blown dead once forward progress has been stopped. They really are such idiots.

Just found out that Michael Clay is returning as ST coordinator. Not surprising, and somewhat disappointing.

One of the most atheltic plays I saw was Chris Jones, 6-6 310 lbs jumping over the entire Eagles OL resulting in a direct hit of Jalen Hurts...but Hurts was strong enough to brush it off and keep moving forward.

but this is atheltic

I know.  It reeks of a prominent owner unhappy their OL can't do it, pestering Goodell, Vincent etc to stop it from being done

That would be my assumption. "If we don't create it, then we ain't allowin it."

Why would he make a lateral move and go to a dumpster fire franchise?

He’ll call the plays and basically be the HC of the offense.
