Why are people so against Lukas Van Ness? I like him a lot as a player. I’d prefer Gonzalez, but Van Ness is a perfectly fine consolation prize

The knock on him is that he isn't a refined pass rusher and is seen as a stiff athlete with more straight line speed vs. bend. He would be a reach at pick 10.  His numbers were very good but his vertical jump wasn't.  He also wasn't a super productive player in college.  My sense is that he would be a good pick in the bottom half of the first round.  He's a reach at 10.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Interested to see what he gets compared to Edmunds. Wasn't a big market for him.

Maybe not at 10 but do you see him as a possible replacement for Barnett?

Save the 30yds in penalties each game?? :P

If anyone wants damaged goods, Trey Lance is available for open box price

I think Lance beats Purdy out at some point next season.  If not out of training camp it'll be pretty early in the season.  Purdy's 7-game winning streak over bad teams was his 15 minutes of fame.

I don't think Purdy will be ready to even throw and practice until early in the season so Lance will have the chance to play well enough where they don't want to bench him.  Of course Lance could also lose out to Darnold and then Lurdy does come back.

I suspect they pick at #10.  The current draft board looks like this to me:

1)  CJ Stroud (Panthers)

2)  Bryce Young (Texans)

3)  Will Anderson (Cards)

4)  Will Levis (Colts)

5)  Jalen Carter (Seahawks)

6)  Tyree Wilson (Lions)

7)  Christian Gonzalez (Raiders)

#8) Myles Murphy (Falcons)

9) Paris Johnson (Bears)

That would leave the Eagles a choice between Witherspoon, Skoronski, Van Ness, Bijan Robinson .... if a couple of wildcards like Anthony Richardson and Nolan Smith (who are NOT top 10 prospects) go off the board, then the Eagles could get a very good player at #10.

I wouldn't be upset with Jones at 10. He is a better prospect than Skoronski.

I always miss the good stuff. He was finally banned

This Lamar situation will likely be very entertaining for the offseason

Ahh. I thought you meant someone else.

After watching both guys I’m not a fan of either Myles Murphy or Lukas VanNess at 10. Myles Murphy kinda reminds me of Derrick Barnett able to beat some guys around the edge but no other pass rush moves. Van Ness has a good motor but seems to get most of his work done after the play has either broken down or he’s finishing someone else’s tackles. He has good speed but offers nothing much else.

Jalen Carter is really the only DL I’d take if he’s still around. CB and OL has much better prospects at 10

Good Twitter thread on Edmunds

Taking a closer look at Van Ness, he should be more an option at #30 overall than #10.  #10 overall would be way too high for him.  He makes most of his plays through high energy and hustle, but he doesn't dominate at the line.

I'd still prefer Kancey if it's a choice.

This is probably the best course of action. Give the aggrieved parties a place to vent and keep it out of the blog.

It seems like the problem is mostly solved anyway, so now people who are still bothered by it can punch themselves out in rnr and we can all get on with our lives.

Loved Mike Tysons punch out! does this vid get me a lower seed?

Why do that?  It makes the trade much much more expensive.  By doing it that way you are giving the Titans negotiating leverage.

Seemed to work just fine with AJ last year

For a guy that used pot as part of his daily routine, he sure got volatile towards the end.

Made me wonder if he took the gateway to cocaine.

Yeah i don't like vanNess at 10 either, he's not sudden or twitchy enough.

I like his size length and motor but he's just so straight line, not a lot of bend.

If I'm drafting a guy at 10 I want him to have an elite trait or two and the only elite traits vsnNess has is he can run pretty fast in a straight line for his size. Gonna need more than that from an edge defender.

BS.  You guys have complained about the mods and decisions, continued personal drama in here for months.  Now all of a sudden you get called out and you don't want to talk publicly anymore.  Nope.  We'll have a discussion publicly.  Enough of people spreading ridiculous lies and rumors from supposed pm's.  I am thinking I will create a topic in RnR so the blog can talk football.

I am moderating.  I have gone back and forth with people via pm many times.  I have posted here publicly waaaaaaaay more than other mods to address concerns, reasoning for decisions, etc and it hasn't done any good.  People still repeat ridiculous lies and run with whatever narrative they want to make themselves look like victims and now they're doing it on YouTube and other places.  Someone who had VA's personal email address gave it out to others without his permission and shared his personal YouTube channel to harass him.  These are the type of people we're dealing with.  Grown men in their 40s doing this kind of stuff it's sad.

So no, I'm not dealing with all this drama in private messages back and forth when so many have no problem talking publicly in here endlessly for months when they want to rant about the mods... but now all of a sudden want to stick to football in here and go to pm when I call them out.

I'm not saying I will not discuss things via pm on a case by case basis.  I have been doing that already and will continue.  In this situation a lot of people want to talk about moderation and keep posting about it in the public forums and not pm's.  So I'm going to address everyone publicly since everyone wants "transparency."

But I'll start a topic in RnR and we'll address it there.

So in short, we may continue to discuss ways to moderate the Moderators' moderation, but must do so in public, as the Moderators will only use PMs in moderation.

All in all, a pretty moderate stance.

Happy Birthday to Randall Cunningham today.

He's the reason I started watching football and the eagles.

Always be one of my faves!

The Ravens are a top 10 offense with Lamar and a bottom 3 offense without Lamar, per EPA. Ravens need Lamar more than vice-versa.

Not really.  Some teams are perfectly fine sucking for a year vs overpaying the wrong guy.  I said some teams, but I really should’ve said smart teams….and the Ravens are a well run organization

The Ravens are going nowhere with Lamar…they are terrible without him, but it accelerates their rebuild rather than handcuffs it.

Agreed

I just don't get the Lamar love.  Yes, he's a former MVP, but he's got 1 career playoff win and has missed significant time due to injury the last few seasons.  His style of play does not lend itself to a long NFL career, so if you trade for him, you'll need to count on 5 good seasons.

If I'm in "win now" mode and I need a QB to complete the puzzle I would make the trade.   Jets?
